If as @BassNJake mentioned above the line was “snagged” and hour after the anglers line was broken, then yeah, the TD made the right call in my opinion. If the line was retrieved immediately after the breakage as it was floating next to the boat, it could be argued as a countable fish as it occurred on the same cast. If the angler just released the fish and was happy to get the lure back, he was probably golden. The slippery slope would be if indeed an hour after the original line breakage was the angler fishing for other fish or hoping to snag the broken line and retrieve line, fish, and lure or both. What if this angler snags another line with a fish lost by another angler, would that have counted if it wasn’t hooked inside the mouth. I think the TD may have looked at this similar in principle to snagging bed fish....

So very true Tom... Tules- pronounced (too Lee’s) known everywhere else as a cattails or reeds. And tule-dippin became what we know as flipping rat- a small, undersized black bass Delta rat- someone who primarily fishes Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta

Looks like a spot @FrankN209. Check for teeth on the tongue, it’s somewhat surprising. After all, if a lake has bass and drains into the Delta, those bass are there...

I know if you give Ranger the boat serial number, they can make and send you new OME covers. Then either have an upholstery shop fit the covers, or you can do it yourself.

Nice healthy bass Clayton, congrats on putting four in the boat before “leaving fish to go find fish”! We all want to be on fish like the ones you’re posting, especially this time of year. Unfortunately the fish and weather related circumstances can make it difficult to say the least, so I say it’s great you’re able to do it. Continued good fishing and be safe.

I might suggest Peet’s ?. @clemsondds, a 6” or 7” GYCB senko seems to work

@slonezp, just an option- they do shrink wrap cars now. I fished with a guy who did it for boats and trucks and did more cars. He said it was cheaper than a new paint job and protects the original paint

I agree with everyone on the Alberto knot @ATA, even though the FG knot is probably better it’s a bear to learn. I’ve just been shaking my head at this for a while. I have to guess you don’t think you really get used to it, just a matter of dealing with it. I know the rest of the year it’s worth it. I mean I’ve seen how good the fishing is from watching MLF tourneys and videos from Lake Menderchuck. It’s been 40° to start the morning here, topping out around 70° in the afternoon which isn’t really normal. Spring Training has started and hopefully with it the promise of better fishing. ALL the plastics that I got for/with my Color-C-Lector ?. I keep all that stuff around to remind me some things are just to catch fishermen, not fish. And I’m glad I didn’t go hook, line, and sinker for the helicopter lure lol...

I was able to get out for a few hours the past two days and do a little fishing. Weather was sunny, air temps around 70°, water temps around 53° and pretty much dead calm both days. I didn’t get numbers by any stretch, but I’m happy with the ones I did get. Tuesday’s chatterbait fish was 3.81lbs and today’s was 5.86lbs on the same bait. It’s getting close and the prospect of another drought maybe helping the prespawn bite at this point here on the delta.

Per @Tizi ‘s request for a report in R2S crankbaits, here are my thoughts. Water temp was 49 degrees and I was chucking them on a 7’3” MH rod with a Curado 7.2:1 reel with 20lb test braid main line and 12lb test fluoro leader. Things cast like a rocket, and had no problem getting down to 18-20 feet and went through sparse grass (hydrilla) without collecting on the lure which seemed to run true. I would have like to had the opportunity to post a pic with the bait in a fish’s mouth, but that didn’t didn’t happen during my day on the delta. I look forward to throwing them in the future and hearing others opinions as well. Currently, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Just for the sake of this conversation, motor over 150hp don’t have the “upper” trim tab as they aren’t needed and serve no purpose as the bigger motors produce more torque as I understand it. The “plate” serves as another anode a @J Francho mentioned. In my opinion, the shop screwed up and should fix the skeg.
