Boaters, what kind of fisherman are you?
Same here. The thing about high % areas though is sometimes, you never leave the first spot

Why was my post locked so quickly.
Jim, that was me and it wasn't by any means a personal thing towards you or your opinion. That was just a thread that made the antenna stick up...DANGER!!! lol I felt that you were entitled to state your opinion so I didn't remove it but I felt it needed to be locked before it went awry. Nipped it in the bud.

ab-DUCK-ted
We got out this morning about 2am. The bite was extremely slow, 1 fish in the boat, was caught on first cast of the night and 1.5 hrs have now passed without so much as a swipe at a topwater. As we moved into an area that has been very productive at night, a very cool chain of events happened. First, reeling in the j-bug, not a hit in 1.5 hrs and then right at the boat, a monster swung at it, and almost sent Eric and I in the water out of pure surprise. We were like "Whooooa". 2 casts later, another miss. I leave the bug right where it is and follow with a trick stick. WHAM!! BUT IT'S ON THE BUG!! NOT THE ROD IN MY HAND!!! So after that cool catch, I release her as Eric is trying to make something out in the dark. He says "what the hell is that?" I release her and look and say, "Ducks. 4 babies and a momma" No sooner were the words out when WHOOOSH 3 babies and a momma!! We actually saw a bass (no pike here) take a duck off the surface!!!!! SO COOL!! I've seen this before but it was a pike (original intro for In-Fisherman tv show) So, from a total "ho-hum" night, in 5 minutes, we had a trip we will both remember forever. Gotta love fishing!! This was the one from the j-bug

Night fishing and things that go bump in the night
Cart, they WILL hit you, their sonar either isn't as great as it's made out to be or some of them get a little aggressive chasing the bugs, lol. Eric was hit in the head once (luckily he has very short hair) and our rods have been hit numerous times. Ok, here it is, LBH is crazy, whatever. In 1994, my buddy Vinny (member of a very prominent motorcycle group- support 81 for those of you who know what that means) well, we were on the lake around 1am and we saw a UFO. It was a light on the horizon that I pointed out to Vin and as he was saying, "that's weird",and then it suddenly shot straight up at an unknown speed, very high in the sky, and then it shot to the right like lightning and was gone. Vin looked in my direction and simply said "Get me off the water, we have a better chance on land" (as if that were true) but I didn't second guess him, my hand was already on the throttle. Say what you will, I saw what I saw. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another one, just the other night, I was fishing near shore, employing that "flipping a pattern" I wrote about a few weeks ago and something on land, nearby, let out a screech and scared the poop out of me. As I settled down, trying to figure out what the heck it was, it barked. Now, the first sound can only describe as a terradactyl sound. What the heck makes that sound and also a barking sound, I was freaked out. I rolled film,...here is the audio, anyone help? Now, I assumed from noise #1 that this thing was in a tree because it sounded high but I also heard leaves being stepped on coming from that area and thought an animal was near a birds nest and it was warding it off. Erics dad insists it was a fox, anyone back him up or have another suggestion?? LISTEN HERE

The staff have been discussing this as well. The time of year will be March. The lake, well, we aren't sure yet but are looking strongly at Amistad. Biggest road block so far is boat rentals. We were told there are plenty of boats to rent but all I can find on-line are house boat rentals and a few marinas with a few "fishing boats" most likely not bass boats. Still investigating.

Popping a wacky rigged Senko Style bait
yup, works with jigs, senkos, worms, lizards, anything you put on the bottom. I'm convinced it is because a fish sees it settle, goes over to investigate and is nose down investigating this odd thing in it's territory,....and then it pops up out of the grass. You are essentially triggering a reaction bite. You really feel like you have put something together when you start putting them in the boat like this. Great job!
