  1. Read first pinned post on this subforum.http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12403-jig-fishing-questions/
  2. The 300e and 50e are special reels in my book. 200e was ok in my opinion.
  3. I'll still call Yellows tuna, so not to confuse the east coast yellows. I was just saying 30# to sound believable...lol Your one lucky man to have spent that many day's at the island. Okuma is getting really high praise for the Makiera series reel here in SoCal. It seems it was just a couple years ago they started from scratch, now they cant keep up with demand.Their service department has also listened to the anglers, and uses TSI products on their reels.
  4. Cedros is an Island in Mexican waters which is the "Baccarac" for inshore fishing. The rods have to be a little versatile to fish the Island. On one cast you can catch a 1-8# bass or a 30# homeguard yellowtail (tuna). Hope that explains why the rod is built that way. I've never used this rod before, but have heard good things about it.
  5. I have the bought three Okuma baitcasters within the last 6 months. Komodo ,Helios, and Helios air. Great product to price. If you don't know how to clean your own reels ,I wouldn't recommend them. Okuma's are way over greased. You can find these baitcasters for 30-40% off TW'S price if your patient, and shop around.
  6. I have two MH compre's, fast\extra fast. They both are out of the rotation now ,didn't care for them.
  7. Yes, the Woo Daves rods had Fuji guides that are good to go. I still have a Woo Daves MF crankbait rod. I don't use it much any longer, but it is was an awesome trap rod. loved the action of that rod. It's rated more like a MH.
  8. Now just tie it to a tree and take out about a casts worth and wet the line with water as you spool on under tention. Super Slick does spool up different till its wore in a little IMO.
  9. Just got my first Hawgtech handle and cork knobs for my 50e yesterday. Really nice, great packaging, a free sticker and button!! lol
  10. Yep, Starting to move up here in Ca.
  11. Love the Big Hammers, even for calico bass.

I guess I didn't think it through. I could of Palomar'd the main line , then improved cinched the weight line? All the swivel wanted to do is spin against my knot.
  13. Why didn't anybody warn me what a pain these are to tie?
  14. If your talking baitcaster, I have the Komodo and the Helios Air. I love the small frames and Aluminum side plates on the Okuma's. The regular Helios and Komodo are really close in build. I give my Komodo about a 7/10 all around and the Helios Air a 9/10. Okuma's do have a little back play in their Anti reverse Bearing. They also are over greased in the wrong places. My Komodo was not fish able out of the box cause of grease all over the cent. brakes and brake race. I would not pay over 140 for the Helios or Komodo. You can get the rebate on the Helios.
  15. Mold is no joke..I had a 8' * 6' section of mold in my bedroom closet that cost me 5k to get demo'd when I sold my house here in Ca. The final air test is what is spendy.
  16. I traded for a Bantam 100BK, and after tearing it apart I think the bevell washers, bushing are wrong from top of main gear up. drag stack is ok. they had it... another little felt washer on top of main gear (top alum. washer), bevel washer, plastic bushing, brass washer, then star drag. When I changed the felt washer on top of main gear for another bevel washer and put it as any other baitcast reel, it would rub the inside of side plate. I now have it like this and its fine.. bevell washer (up),bushing, brass washer, bevel washer (down), then star drag. I have free spool and smooth retrieve now. Will it be ok like this? I did trade a felt washer for a second bevel washer. Don't know if the old reel had two or not. Found Answer on Google
  17. I just use a uni to uni in this case, not an Alberto.
  18. I know offshore and inshore, Shimano has done studies that Red PP gets bit more than any other color. Bantam1 even backs this study up. Not sure about freshwater, but seems it would be the same. Fishing mystery I guess.
  19. I used Cals for everything too till this year.I cleaned 2 reels that sat (no use) for 3 years with cals. What a PITA it was to get the grease out of bearings and the grease on the frame was dried up.
  20. There are some guy's throwing the big freshwater swimbaits on the SXJ Mc, even tho it has no line guide. I've thrown up to 3oz iron on mine in salt.
  21. Sorry, My Avets are made in a factory in Chatsworth, California. Accurate reels are made in a factory in Corona, California. I guess the Bearings, springs and washers could be imported?
  22. Penn is under 100 (or could be 120 dollars msrp now), made in China. Pure fishing. I Love my Avets, quality at a great price! Release reels in Virginia is another reel talked about at a good price.
  23. What about Okuma? I've heard they only make their own, and parts for others?
