  1. Thanks for this, I have a few IMX pros, both casting and actually am looking to sell them for a shorter model. I've never fished with a GLX but I prefer a split grip over the full handle of the IMX pros. I guess I'll have to spend some time with one to see how the reel seat feels. I do have smaller hands.
  2. I've got several K's and a few SLX's. I'm afraid to try an MGL because I feel I'll do the same thing as OP, sell everything and start buying only MGL reels. It truly is an expensive, slippery slope. ?
  3. I've only recently started to experiment with bladed jig fishing and have only used the Jackhammer so far. I've caught a few but nothing to write home about. I was using my Dobyns Sierra 735c and it did fine. I thought about trying to use my St. Croix 610 Legend Glass as I see lots of you throwing them on a glass rod.
  4. What brand? Baby 1- doesn't really help, lol.
  5. I've bought used rods/reels on here, craigslist, and locally at the bait/tackle store in town. I've always had great luck and have gotten some real deals on some higher end stuff. I've not tried Ebay yet on used stuff but you should be protected by ebay/paypal.
  6. I've got a few SLX reels and have owned some Fuego CT's before as well. For $100 or less you can't go wrong with the SLX.
  7. Why not Shimano? In your price range I'd get a Shimano Sahara and not look back.
  8. Bump, anyone have one yet? I see they have a LH retrieve in stock 6:3 at TW. I'm considering pulling the trigger but really want a higher ratio as I have a few low ratio reels already that I use for crankbaits.
  9. Just me but I prefer a sit on top over a sit inside (Bonafide EX123). On paddle/pedal I've had two kayaks, Feel Free Lure 10 and currently a NuCanoe Flint. I fish lots of shallow creeks/rivers and the Flint is perfect for those applications. But, for lakes and bigger ponds I wish I had a pedal drive. So, that said if you can afford a pedal drive yak I'd go with that and not look back.
  10. I've never fished a GLX but own several IMX pros and I really love the reel seat, my hands are small too.
  11. I've never tried the Fury or Champion line but own a few Sierras and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. They're not as sensitive as some other rods in my arsenal but for what I use them for they work well. I think you'll be happy.
  12. I've only ever used the 3.8
  13. This is what I do, they're awesome as they fit directly under my seat of the yak.
  14. I'm a Shimano fanboy but have always steered away from the rods because of their warranty. I'll take Loomis over them any day.
  15. It's rare that I ever use a Fluke but would like to up my game and use one more often. I've got a spare rod laying around that never gets used and from reading here I think it'll work fine. It was my specific jerkbait rod but I never really use a jerkbait. It's a St. Croix AVC 68 MF. What line do you suggest? Just a preface, I don't like Fluoro or leaders.
  16. Thanks, and yes I do realize it will be a bit larger than my standard SLX reels. My hands are smaller and even though I have no problem with the comfort level of my Curado K's I much prefer the smaller frame on the SLX.
  17. I own 4 Curado K's now and much prefer the smaller frame size of the SLX, hence the reason I want to try a DC version.
  18. I own a few of the regular SLX reels and am looking forward to trying one of the new DC SLX reels as soon as the LH retrieves are released. I've watched a few youtube vids but seeing if anyone here has one and what your thoughts are?
  19. I bought a St. Croix Legend Glass because it was a hell of a deal. It's my only glass rod but has quickly become one of my favorite rods I own and has made me want to fish a CB more often.
  20. I prefer smaller 1000 or 2000 reel for my finesse presentations.
  21. Thanks for this, if I can find those hooks I'll be giving this a shot.
