i like XF for dedicated bottom bait rods. F is a great all-around action: bottom baits, spinnerbaits, smaller cranks. i can usually cast further on a F action rod.

i usually trim the skirt near the hook bend to show off a little more of plastic and keep the claws moving freely. i almost always trim the guard parallel to the hook shank, 1/8 of an inch or so above the barb. i cut a few of the strands off of the guard when fishing in sparse cover. if the cover is thick or im getting snagged alot, ill fan out the guard.

the bsr852 glx is my favorite soft plastic/small jig rod.

i was somewhat successfull in straightening out some plastic swimbait tails by dipping the tail in boiling water for about 15 secs and letting them hang straight down for a while, gravity keeping it straight. the tails straightened out significantly but seemed to be a little softer than they were pre-boil...

IMO, if the kid doesnt want to do it, fine. have him sit quietly and wait. move on, get the lessons started and stop worrying about religion/patriotism. forcing beliefs on people seems more N. yeah, theyre def not pretty! the black ones are almost presentable. you can find them for about 50 bucks online. when its cold out, put some wool socks on. they will dry faster and maintain more warmth when wet than cotton.

hello kids, i have a broken legend elite 6'8" m/xf spinning rod that i want to send in before the new yr. im trying to decide if i should go with the extreme version. has anyone fished both? does the extreme version balance well with a light reel (stradic CI4 2500)? i have an avid that i dont use much and im thinking of trading it in for a LTB big cranker. i use a mbr782 for small cranks, would this be a good choice for my medium size/depth cranks? id need to find a good lefty reel for it but ill worry about that later. any input is appreciated. thanks in advance -z

for a full sandal (not flip flop) id look at Keen Newports if you can find them on sale. they have rubber over the toes that will protect against rocks and they are built to last. ive used mine alot in the past two yrs and theyre doing great.

i pitch jigs all the time in my kayak. pretty easy with spinning gear. for starting off i recommend a small jig (1/4oz bitsy bug) with a small 3" craw trailer (baby rage craw, 3" craw papi, 3" paca craw) until you feel comfortable pitching from a sitting position, do short, low trajectory casts as to not cause too big of a slash and you will catch fish. it doesnt have to enter the water like an olympic dive. a little commotion might actually attract fish. you will soon have a new favorite bait!
