mountain bike?
Not true. There are plenty of full-suspension out there that are lighter than hardtail bike. You don't need to buy a full-suspension for type of riding you have described, plus full-suspension are expensive. whats not true? that a full suspension trail bike is heavier than a cross country build? trail bikes have stronger components, and bigger shocks while not being an all out downhill bike. yes, full suspension trail bikes are heavier than cross-country hard tails. of course one could build a super-light dual suspension cross-country that can be 8lbs lighter than a walmart hardtail bike. is that your point? edit: what im saying, you take a hardtail frame and a dual suspension frame. lets say they both weigh 3.5lbs. then you add the same drive train, seat post, pedals etc. even if you did not add disc brakes to the full sus bike, the only difference on the bike would be the rear shock. the rear shock does not float on air. i have a 22lb cross country hardtail for single track, fire roads and hard gravel/dirt. when i bought my full suspension, i wanted a totally different feel for totally different trails. so i went with a few more adjustable centimeters of front and rear travel, disc brakes, and stronger rims. i estimate it at 26-27 lbs. thats what i was recommending in a full suspension trail bike. no, i do not recommend a full suspension as a first bike unless you already love to ride, are willing to spend a few thousand, and your trails have roots and rock gardens in your path.

Is everyone on this board a senko freak?
casting and working lures is half the fun of fishing for me. when the fish arent falling for my other plastics and jigs and its time for a fight, i'll wacky rig one on an extra-fast spinning rod and shake it every few feet as it falls. far from my favorite technique but i dont hate it. dead-sticking a senko is a little too boring for me.

used is actually a good idea. find out what size top tube is good for you at a store first. im 5'10" with normal size legs and 18" is right for me. definately check out the bike before you buy it and do alot of research. find one with a good 3 or 4lb frame and look up reviews on it here: mtbr.com edit: unless youre looking to do big jumps/drops, you probably want a 'cross country' frame/bike. if you end up going full suspension, get a 'trail' type frame. theyre a little heavier but they usually have bigger and adjustable shocks and the forks are disc brake ready.

Need Advice on Rod/Reel Combo for Plastics
personal preference. i like soft plastics on a spinning rod until im using a weight heavier than 1/4oz (lead not lead and plastic) and always for weightless plastics. curado E7 is great for bottom baits because of the fast retrieve!

has anyone ever
nudity is a natural thing. unfortunately, not always pleasant. as long as theres no sex going on i would have zero problems with it. its funny how some parents are so concerned about their kids seeing a pair of boobs but dont care if the kids watch people's heads being blown off on tv or if they play video games where you chop people up with chainsaws. i guess i dont get it.

if youre not planning on spending over 1k or so DO NOT get a dual suspension. cheaper ones are heavy and not nessecary. id spend at least $400 if you can. more if possible. "good value" brands: jamis giant specialized trek look for shimano parts and a total weight below 26 lbs. i like shimano xt and xtr on my drivetrain. PM me if you buy a frame and do a custom build.

Credit Cards...
get a credit card. you will need a good credit score eventually (you will save money on future loans with a lower interest). make sure the card you get does not have a yearly fee! use it for gas, food etc. use only half of your limit. pay it off in full every month.

What is Happening?
id go with a longer rod and a bigger hook like mentioned above. spinning or casting doesnt matter as long as the specs are right. my favorite t-rig rod is a medium power spinning rod. i have no problem setting the hook on my t-rigs with normal gauge worm hooks.

Yesterday I was called a wuss ,wimp bass fisherman-
trolling for tuna and bass fishing are very different. one you sit back and wait for a huge fish, the other you play around with toys (baits) and trick the fish into thinking its food. totally different game as i see it.

Jig vs. Plastic
ive been doing alot of fishing using craw plastics on jigheads (no skirt). 1/4oz and 3/8oz arkie jigheads mostly. they seem to work some of the time when the skirted jig bite is off but i havent done enough experimenting to be sure...

New Spinning reel opinions!
welcome to the forum. ive had many symetres and i think theyre a great reel. haven't tried the others. i'd skip the saros (though theyre nice too) and go for a stradic if youre willing to spend a little more. ($120 shipped online) if the 3000 size symetres are like the stradic 3000s, the only difference between a 3000 and 2500 is a larger spool on the 3000. i like the larger spool to tie on 8lb flouro (with mono backing) on my light jig/t-rig spinning rods. i think 2500 size is perfect for an all around bass spinning rod.

G.LOOMIS XPEDITOR SERVICE
well now it makes more sense. but then your edit confused me. sorry if i missed this: can you xpedite a NRX that has already been 'wild carded'? that might get one, maybe two, NRXs in my hand but im pro'lly done with GLX and down...
-
G.LOOMIS XPEDITOR SERVICE
no offense, but that makes no sense. you rather pay full price for another rod than get a 300 plus dollar rod for $100? i just used the xpeditor service on my broken loomis that ive been putting off. the guy on the phone confirmed that the new policy is for all loomis rods. im sure you already knew that, but i was hoping it was for NRX only. i asked him how they would know if we were returning the same rod over and over and he said there is a 3 letter code on all of their rods. i see a two letter code on mine under the model name... my highschool math skills tell me there cant be too many two (even three) letter combos, right? obviously its not a unique serial number so if you break a rod twice, your grandmother will have to return it for you. edit: unless they have the same letter codes on all 'xpedited' rods. d**n it, man!

G.LOOMIS XPEDITOR SERVICE
the reason i bought all of my glx rods (other than the fact that i love the feel of my Loomis rods) is because of the Expeditor service. i cant justify spending so much on a rod unless i have the lifetime guarantee (with $50 in hand) against my mistakes. i was ok with the new $100 fee but only being able to use the service once per rod is going to make me spend my money elsewhere. if buying about 10 great rods because of the Expeditor service and being upset that i will no longer have these rods for life is whining, let me get a slice of the Manchego.
-
G.LOOMIS XPEDITOR SERVICE
But if you break that replacement $500 rod because of your fault, you are out. They only offer the Xpeditor Service towards one replacement for one model owned by you. that's what blows me. they could at least offer lifetime replacements at cost, right? i hear dobyns are nice.
-
G.LOOMIS XPEDITOR SERVICE
i can understand the $100 bucks for NRX but is this the new policy for all Loomis rods? Xpedite Service is a onetime (per rod) offer that may only be applied to the original purchase item looks like im over the NRX rods.

Keeping her interested
i think its alot easier to get them into fishing if they already enjoy the outdoors. if you mention camping to a girl you just started dating and she says she hates it because of the insects, run away!
