Fishing as a career?
I'm glad this thread exists. I'm a manufacturer sales rep for a good company and I'm hoping to one day land a rep position at a tackle manufacturer. It's great hearing all the opinions on a little different topic.

BB1 vs Tournement MB
Duel brakes bs centrifugal brakes aren't going to make or break it for you. Buy whichever feels better in your hand and learn to use it to its full potential. That said, I own five MB's...

Good lures for Grass and Sand lakes
Clear water: topwaters, swimbaits, swimjig, 1/4oz Texas rigged Ocho. stained water: chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, 1/4oz creature, buzzbaits. I live in the Philly area, so I'm MORE THAN HAPPY to help you figure it out!

How long have you been bass fishing?
I've been obsessed with bass fishing since I was six years old. I'll be 30 next month.

Jerkbaits in toothy critter water
Thanks! Maybe 5-5.5lbs. There are some trophies up here for sure.

Jerkbaits in toothy critter water
I fish lakes with a lot of chain Pickerel in them. Losing baits is part of the game. I lost a 110 two winters ago and haven't thrown them in those waters since. I save my high dollar baits for tournaments. If I'm fun fishing, I'll choose a Strike King KVD J300. They work very in my waters. We've got some whopper Pickerel up here in PA too, so no matter what I'm throwing, I'm always a little nervous.

So who likes precision rifles?
I had a Savage 10FP .308 bedded into a B&C Medalist stock with a Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 that was a 1/2moa at 100 yards. Not many places to test it further where I live, so I sold the rifle to invest in more fishing gear. I do miss that rifle. I bought it with the intention of hunting deer at long range, but at 16lbs with the average shot well under 100 yards, it just wasn't practical. I now have a Savage 111 .270 that'll shoot 1moa all day long with factory HSM 130gr. I'm slowly getting out of hunting so who knows if I'll keep these around.

Change bait or location.
Follow your gut and never second guess yourself. After about 30 minutes of not catching anything, I start to ask myself that question. Sometimes I think a bait change is best, sometimes I feel a change in location is warranted. Whatever you FEEL is right, do that, and know that whatever the outcome was the best it was gonna be for you.

Lake Norman over New Years
This is great info, thanks! can you elaborate on what exactly their "Winter thing" is? Where will they be schooled up?

Lake Norman over New Years
heading out after them. I'm heading down to spend New Years with my cousins in North Carolina. I've never caught a Spotted Bass before and my cousin and I are heading out after them. What should I be throwing, and where should begin my search for my first spot???

What lures to use in the winter with 45 degree water....
I wish my lakes were 45* and not frozen solid in winter! that said, don't count out a Red Eye Shad. Chrome or Panfish patterns fished over whatever grass is left. Sounds counter-intuitive, I know, but it works up here in NJ/PA when the lakes are still half frozen.

Small Club Politics
My old club had a similar issue. We wound up cancelling four out of six tournaments one season. The next year, we made a rule: The schedule is posted in January. That's it. No changes, unless weather is a factor. If you don't fish the club events, you don't get points which might mean not qualifying for the State Championship. A few members said that the club events payout/entree fees werent enough to choose it over another event (mostly BFL's). So, we voted on and passed a second rule: all members pay a lower entry fee per event, but EVERY MEMBER pays all entree fees at the beginning of the year. That way, everyone has a reason to show up, it cost them less to fish, and they're fishing for more money. ive left the club since, but members tell me that turnout tripled and no one complains. Hope this helps.

Aerator for Jon Boat livewell
Sounds like I want a reciculator. I have a bulge pump that runs off a small 12v battery. I use it on rainy days to pump water out of my boat, but maybe I can use it as a recirculator as well.

Aerator for Jon Boat livewell
I have an Alumacraft 1670LW. The live well has no aerator and I want to fish some winter tournaments out of it. What do you all use to keep your fish alive?

Denali vs duckett
If you can wait another few weeks, Duckett has a new series called the Triad coming out. They offer a 7' and a 7'3" MH options, which are perfect for your applications. Retail is around $129, but if you ship around, I'm sure eBay and amazon will have them for around $100

Need some or a lot of input.
I'm 5'6" and use a 6'6" M Duckett Terex. I have on it a Duckett 300 in 7.1:1, and it's a solid combo. Any rod between 6'3"-6'10", Medium Power, with a Fast or XF action would be a great jerkbait rod. Fast action to get your bait to react to your twitches, Medium power as to not tear the hooks out under a fight. When the water warms up and the jerkbait bite slows, spool up with mono or 40lb braid and turn your new combo into your topwater set-up. Any good jerkbait rod also excels at throwing most topwaters up to about a super spook. Reel wise, You want something that'll pick-up slack quickly, as both jerkbaiting and topwaters leave slack in your line. For this reason, you'll want as fast a gear ratio you can get. Anything between 7.1-8.3:1 will do wonders for both techniques. brand doesn't matter too much. I'm a fan of Duckett Rods and Lews Reels. That's just my preference. Hope this helps.

Anyone here a Bagley collector?
There is a remote tackle shop I was in a few days ago and they had some very old, still in the package Bagley Killer B2's, some flat sided baits, and I believe some bang-o-lures. Price tag was around $6 each. Just wanted to know from an expert if it'd be worth reselling or just holding onto them. I'm not sure what they're worth, of anything, or if I should just fish with them. Any experts here?

KVD Popping Perch
I have a few. Action is awesome and it works as advertised. Walks very easily. I made a few mods to mine: 1) I trim the legs so they're 1.5-2" long and into the shape of a fish tail (>). 2) The ones I got from walmart didn't have a drain hole, so I put one on the back, but higher than it is on other frogs. More towards the top than the bottom, so the hole is out of the water. hope that helps!

Ideal punching/frogging rod under $130
There isn't much available. I have a 2017 Duckett Catalog and they have details in there. I'll try to post a photo.
