  1. I guess you're kind of like me. I prefer everything brand new and I don't understand how people get boat rash on something they took out for a hand full of outings. My rods and reels are in excellent condition. I do purchase used reels because you can save a great deal on them. I've bought a few on this forums and they look and feel brand new and you save some good money. For rods, I prefer to buy them new. Period. But I will consider for used high end rods that are in great conditions.
  2. I fish with a D all day and the weight and size does not bother me AT ALL. I like it much better than the E because of the size actually. It fits better in my hands. Size might be a problem for some, but I've never cared about weights when it comes to fishing. A few grams is nothing.
  3. I rarely ever get upset about losing fish. Whether it was a PB or not. I think I will be disappoint like anyone else, but it happens. I will never throw my gear. Sure, I'll be talking about the fish that could of been, but that's how it goes. Fishing is something that is relaxing for me and if I ever get POed about it, the fun is taken away.
  4. Is the Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap Hook = an octopus hook? I've been setting the hook with these when I wacky rig with them. Should I just apply pressure?
  5. The Baby Brush Hog is great. I like to fish it weightless. Cast it out and give it some time to sink to the bottom. Give it a few twitches or drag it along the bottom. The key is to fish it SLOW. Fish will pick it up or eat it. If you feel something other than weeds or wood (eg. like a small thump feeling), set the hook! Even the GF caught fish on it. Doesn't take much to get them to hit it. She outfished me that outting when she used the brush hog.

That's my gf of 2 years. She would come along and read. Sit there and get herself a tan. Last couple of outings I gave her a rod and reel and made her fish with me. She caught a couple of fish and now he wants to fish with me. I do expect her to put the rod down if she doesn't get any action for an hour or so.
  7. I think the Roboworm Straight Tail is suppose to float after it loses the salt. I'm not really sure though because I've only used it once and didn't pay attention. You can check out their website. http://www.roboworm.com/saltrelease.htm
  8. I started to put MegaStrike on my Yamamoto and Zoom baits this year. I'm not sure if it has helped, but it can't do no harm either. Helps cover up unwanted odours. I wish *** came out with scent as well. They are awesome IMO.
  9. 1) 4-5" Senko - Blacke/Blue or Green Pumpkin T-Rigged 2) Baby Brush Bug - Green Pumpkin T-Rigged Weightless 3) Zoom Finesse Worm - Green Pumpkin Wacky Rigged Yeah, Green Pumpkin rules here.
  10. Yes it is. It's bad to throw anything into the lake for that matter. Use a grocery bag and toss all the garbage into that. When your done fishing is done, you can throw it out. No need to litter anything.
  11. Hahah... this is the first time I've seen them and I like it. They are pretty funny indeed. ;D
  12. I will take your word for it and not consider these brands when I purchase my bought next summer when I settle into my new home. Which brand would you recommended looking at? I'll put it another way. Direct experience with friends who have owned products made by Tracker marine (a Nitro Bass boat and a Tahoe deck boat) have made me realize that when you buy one of those brands you don't know what you're going to get. There are many happy Nitro and tracker owners, unfortunately there are also many unhappy ones as well. In fact, Tracker boats is the only manufacturer I know of that had a website devoted to customers unhappy with their tracker, Nitro, tahoe, etc boat. It would seem like some days the boats go down the assembly line and everything is OK. Other days and the end result is a night mare. To make matters worse, lots of boat companies have boats that have issues and problems that happen during assembly. Those boats are normally caught by QC and then sold as blems through their dealerships at greatly reduced prices, some are destroyed because the defects are such that their is safety issues. Tracker marine is the only boat manufacturer that I know of that will let a poor product not only go off the assembly line and onto the transport truck, but will also turn that poorly built boat over to the buyer as a new boat, without repairing even obvious defects let alone hidden ones. If you're looking for a fiberglass or aluminum rig, most any of the name brands right now are well built. Ride and decide which is best for you. BTW, if your heart is still set on a bass tracker boat or a Nitro I can't emphasis this more. Buy from an authorized Tracker/Nitro dealer NOT from BPS direct. BPS has no service department other than in Springfield Missouri. Anyplace else and you'll be stuck having to use 3rd party service. Those guys operate on their schedule, not yours or BPS's. When you buy from a authorized Nitro/Tracker dealer those guys have their own service and will handle your problems a whole lot faster than using BPS direct. Very well explained and helpful indeed. I realized I made a typo when I said bought instead of boat. I plan on buying a boat within the next 2 summers, but I have absolutely no experience nor do I have friends who own a boat. With that being said, any information I can gather is going to be taken into consideration. This will be my first boat and I hope I don't fall under that category of "happiest time is buying and selling a boat". I doubt I am going to buy a bass boat for my first. I need to learn the simple things because I have no knowledge what so ever at the moment.

  15. Lots of interesting stories... Thanks for sharing.
  16. When you guys flip, you you use the Denny Brauer weights or just stick with the bullet weights? Are there any advantages to using them?
  17. I was just wonder for all those who fish golf courses. How did you find out that the pond has bass in them. I don't plan on fishing any golf courses, but I've always wondered on how you found the place. Don't they kick you out if you aren't there to play golf?
  18. Do painted or unpainted bullet weights make a difference? I've been using black metal weights right now and the paint chips away after a while. I was thinking about getting some tungsten bullet weights, but I'm not sure if I should get black or unpainted. Which do you prefer? If you prefer the colour ones, do the paint job chip easy?
  19. I don't know what happened to this thread, but it was suppose to be start-up musts. Lol... what RoadWarrior said was perfect.
  20. Poor guy, if shipping didn't cost me $10, I would give him a spool of line.
