Minn Kota Maximizer
The MK Max Pro will be a good upgrade. The Maximizer feature greatly reduces the drain on your batteries. I'd get the 80# unit. Good luck with your 191. It's a great boat.

Using the cheap craft paint in an airbrush
You can certainly go the rattle can route for basic patterns. Details such as eyes and gill flares can be added by various methods - including a finish nail and/or a Sharpie. They will catch fish. That said, I'm really envious of the folks here that produce these works of air brush art that happen to be fishing lures.

Using the cheap craft paint in an airbrush
I've used the acrylic craft paints from Wally, Micheals, etc. It is water based paint and I use water for thinner. For me, it covers as well as Createx. The stores around here have a lot better color selection in the generic craft paints. I say go for it!! Good luck!

optima batteries
Agree with the above. Check and compare the CCA/MCA/Reserve numbers.

Johnson Engine Problems
I would start with new plugs. You should also look into running a cleaner/fuel stabilizer additive regularly. Seafoam, Startron, Marine Stabil are all good options. Your compression numbers sound good. JMHO.

Primer?
I've been using Kilz in the spray can. Covers well and seems to take paint well.

Gander Mountain rods?
I have 3 of their "Pro Select" series rods. They have all worked fine for me. Great bang for the buck, IMO.

Huge Grubs
The Zoom "G-tail" worm is similar. It appears to be a knock off of the old Ditto "Gator Tail" worm.

Jigging spoons
In addition to those mentioned above, I have good success with the Cordelle CC spoon. I swap the saltwater hooks for #4 Gammy's and add some flashabou. They are a great tool!

Best for the money
I'm currently using a Gander MTN Pro Select for plastics. It is a 7' MH, model GMPS-701MHC-SP. It has worked very well for me. I believe the Pro Selects run about $60.

Gander Mountain Baitcaster
I actually looked at their house reels earlier this year when I needed to quickly/cheaply retire a couple of OLD Quantums. For about $10 more each I chose the Diawa Excelor. The Excelor does have an aluminum frame and 8 bearings. So far both have done well. FWIW, I have had very good luck with Gander's house rods. Good luck!

Spro Little John Crankbait
It's a great bait anytime fish are shallow. Cell Mate is the color if you're only going to have one. I have also done well on Citrus and the "ghost" looking ones. I don't get too carried away with the cold/hot water theory for choosing bait styles. If one isn't producing, try something else. JMO.

Livewell in my 08' Triton X2
If you're running a Mercury Tempest or Trophy prop with the PVS plugs try removing one of the plugs at a time and see if your loaded hole shot doesn't improve. If taking them all out doesn't do the trick, you may have to consider going down in pitch. Your dealer should be willing to swap if you haven't damaged yours. Good luck!

Daiwa Exceller Reveiw
I have 2 of these and have been very pleased. I think it is a great reel, especially at that price point.

08' Marine Master trailer..light problem?
The trailer is under warranty. Take it back to the dealer and get a replacement.

whats a good charger?
Your best solution, IMO, would be to install a multi-bank onboard charger in your boat. Each "bank" in the unit is actually an individual "charger". Get one that has a "bank" for ALL the batteries you have in your boat - including your starting battery. That way you can easily charge all your batteries with a single AC connection. Dual Pro (http://www.dualpro.com/) makes a good one.

Wire for Jig Tying
You could purchase a 25' phone cord and strip the 4 wire strands. That would give you 100' pretty cheaply. Same goes for CAT5 data cable. You would get 8 strands from that.

DD22's
I agree wholeheartedly with both posters above. Matched with the 5:1 ratio reel of your choice flip sticks are great for the big crankbaits. They also make great C-rig and football jig rods.

Trailer problem.......Sort of!!!!!!
If the winch capstan is bolted to the trailor frame, you should be able to move it forward a couple of inches. This will increase your tounge weight and allow you to winch the boat up to the bow eye. Good luck!

Need Help Please?!?!?
Could be Producto's. I believe Producto is out of Florida as well. As far as I know, they are still in business.

Fish Hedz
They work well. Get the one with the openings in the gasket. Nice to have when running in rain too.

Guide series rods
I've been using a Guide Series 6'6" MH spinning rod since early this year for skipping tubes and shakey worms. It has performed very well for me. Great bang for the buck IMO.

first boat
Don't know where you're located, but, I wouldn't consider buying any rig without running it on the water AND having the engine checked by a qualified mechanic. The owner should be willing to take you to the lake and demonstrate the functionality of the rig and all accessories - switches, lights, electronics, pumps, etc. During the demo you should, hopefully, get an idea how to properly launch and load the rig as well as how the owner treats his equipment. With the boat off the trailer, carefully inspect the trailer. You're looking for rust on the frame, excessivly worn tires and grease on the inside of the wheels which indicates a failed seal. Make sure the lights work and the trailer brakes are operational if so equiped. You should be able to get some information on the value of any rig at nada.com or through the loan department of your bank or credit union. I recommend that you get with your local Coast Guard Auxillary and see about any "safe boating" courses they may offer. In the meantime, try to "get acquainted" with your equipment when the lake and ramp are not crowded. Take your time, wear your PFD and use the kill switch. Good luck with your search.

Breech stop & turn
Yep, that used to be part of the Champ demo ride. The rep that took me out back in '89 ran through the "normal" stuff, then told me where to grab and said "hold on". That 184 from Mt. Home was one of the best boats I've owned.

anyone use a gel battery? dont fail me cart
Have been using Dual Pro AGM's for 3+ years and haven't touched them. They are dual purpose (deep cycle/starting) and have at least 300 trips on them now. I run a TR20 w/ 225 Merc Opti and MK Max 74. I am using 2 LS3100's for trolling and a LS2700 for cranking and accessories/pumps. You can check their specs at http://www.dualpro.com/lightningseries.htm. FYI, they match up fine with the Dual Pro charger that came in my Triton. I believe any charger that will put out 10-15 amps will charge them fine. If you have questions regarding charging you should be able to contact them via their web site. Very good product IMO.
