  1. good to know, thank you. i travel every now and then for work and know at some point i will be near some type of a body of water that i could mess around in after work. this would be perfect to take with me!
  2. hm, nifty. are all telescopic rods this same style or do some come with reels? is there an advantage of having a reel opposed to not having one on a telescopic rod?
  3. I saw this telescopic rod on bass pro's website and was wondering if this comes with a reel? If not, what type of reel works best on it? This would be great for traveling.........hear a lot of good things about these bream poles http://www.basspro.com/B-n-M-Original-BreamBuster-Pole-10/product/10212813/
  4. So can this worm work just as well if there is no surface cover like pads? Im in complete open water.......
  5. OK, I have had the 12" jelly worm for a while and have tried it a time or two at most. It's just really large and can't imagine the couple pound bass in my area would even chase it. I was at BPS the other day and asked one of the emplyees if they ever used it with any success. He gave me the same reply. used it once maybe twice with no luck so that leads me to this........has anyone used this worm? any luck? If you have had success, how have you rigged it? Good ol' t-rig?
  6. im really gonna hear it for this but here are my rules when I take anyone fishing..... 1. no beer allowed on the boat 2. i dont wanna hear any music while fishing. if you wanna listen to it, bring headphones 3. no whining when its hot and the fish arnt biting
  7. Strike King's Itsy Bitsy Pond Minnow for me
  8. Does anyone know if Strike King makes a shallow running crankbait? I am looking for one in the 0-1' range. I have been searching at BPS, as well as Cabelas, with no success. I have used the BPS "The Egg", and the Bandit version, but was hoping for a SK version.
  9. I will second the strike king red eye shad lipless cranks that perform well. I always have success with them. not to mention, the SK's are cheaper than the rapalas!! well it sounds like they dont perform from a number of members..... thanks for the input guys........
  10. change? i dont change at all. i buy numerous cranks all the time to just try them. but the rippin rap is just one i never have success with. just checking to see if its just me or if others have the same results. how can you NOT like Rapala? besides the price. I am liking strike king more and more as time goes on.........but its mainly cause of price.
  11. does anyone have any luck with the Rapala Rippin' Rap? I throw lipless cranks quite a bit, mainly the strike king lures, with great success. but when it comes to the rapala ones.......not so much
  12. here is a photo of the new
  13. Here is my new modified ride. I am attaching photos of the before and the NOW. Huge difference but totally modified!!! I have the original motor paint colors that Evinrude calls out, so I will be painting the motor shortly. I was going to paint it gray/red to match boat but i think id like it to be the original manufacturer coloring.
  14. Everywhere I have looked, I am seeing the battery I need for $80 or so bucks. Looks like it is what it is
  15. WRB, do things change from what you stated if I fish from a boat? Or does the same principals apply no matter where I fish?
  16. ya, thats one of the locations I go to
  17. currently I fish the Little Miami River of East Fork on the east side of Cincinnati, Ohio. The main lake I fish is East Fork Lake, again, east side Cincinnati, ohio
  18. I was talking to a few local guys as well, they mentioned the same thing. I have heard of trolling motor batteries.......... When you mention "cheap", what price range would I be looking at? closer to $50, or closer to $100+?
  19. I'm liking this idea better!!! Love the price That would be enough to carry the lights/depth finder for a few hours?
  20. hey all, I currently have a battery that is designated to the trolling motor. I would like to pick up an additional battery to run only the boat lights and the depth finder. The lights will very seldom be used but still would like a battery to carry the load. The depth finder will run the whole time out...... I am not familiar how much juice the lights/depthfinder would require, but can someone give me some advice on what size battery I'd need?
  21. very good.........thank you for the input!! I will definitely take a mental note of this and see what I can muster up next time out...... I will keep you posted. thank you again Crankbait09
  22. Hi all, I am still trying to fish plastics from time to time. I just want them to work for me like they do everyone else (or at least it seems) So I am throwing them more and more as of the last couple weeks. Yesterday, I was fishing a senko, wack rigged. I felt a few tubs/nibbles. Not sure what it was so I jerked to the left like I do with all my crankbaits and I ended up pulling a blue gill out of the water. The thing is, I pulled him out only for the fact that he was holding on to the rubber worm. no where near the hook. Once he figured out that he was out of the water, he released his death grip and back in to the water he fell. so he was never hook set. So if this were a bass that was trying to take this soft plastic. how do you set the hook so that the hook sets? How do you know when to set the hook? I don't understand that. Also, when you are t-rigging a plastic bait, whether it be a worm, creature bait, fluke, etc.........most of the time i try it t-rigged. Again, same thing. How do you know when to set the hook???? I can't grasp soft plastic fishing strategies but for some reason, I keep buying them (i don't understand that one, they dont even work!!) can anyone shed some light on this? (sorry if wordy)
  23. I use this lure ALL THE TIME. Although the hooks do get caught on each other from time to time, I have never put much thought in to switching them out to avoid it. It doesnt happen that often to me, so no worries THAT is an awesome crankbait. that is my go to crank in wading waters!!!!
  24. Thank you for the advice. Most of my travel so far is by car. So a two piece combo would probably work....I'll keep looking
