  1. I am finding myself traveling more and more for work and thought of a nifty idea. Why not buy a telescopic rod to carry with me on these trips in case I find a body of water I am able to fish. So I started to google the telescopic rod and found a number of places that sells them, BPS being one of them. I am seeing a lot on Amazon as well as Ebay. Now, I wouldn't fork out a crap ton of money for one of these set ups, mainly for the fact I wouldn't use it a lot. I am seeing them on ebay, as well as Amazon for about $10-15. which aint bad at all. I realize a lot of them are coming from China or Hong Kong..............but it is something to get by with. question is this....has anyone ever bought a telescopic rod for this same reason? Have you bought the 10-20 dollar set ups?? How did they hold up? worth the purchase? (i would use it for bass fishing, artificial lures)
  2. I think I was hoping for something a lot cheaper than that. But I'm not sure. That is definitely what I was looking for though. Perfect.........I shall think about that one. thank you for the link!
  3. For all of you canoe-ers out there. Is there an easy solution for adding a third seat to a canoe, in the middle? I have a 16ft Old Town Canoe and would like to add a seat in the middle for when I am flying solo.
  4. Hello all I was looking on iboats website and i saw a seat pedestal package for a decent price. http://www.iboats.com/Lock-N-Pin-3-4-Pedestal-Package-with-11-Post-and-7x7-Base-Swivl-Eze/dm/cart_id.774707858--session_id.507715229--view_id.69845 I have never bought seat hardware before and am looking to modify my existing flat bottom jon boat. can anyone shed some light on this package? Is it a good deal? quality? Does one pedestal seat package differ from another? any advice would be appreciated. thank you
  5. Yes I do have the self etching primer. As for that website, that's where I read about all the more expensive paint as well as zinc oxide paint... Still unclesr exactly what to buy.
  6. Hey all I have a 14' flat bottom aluminum jon boat. It is currently a nasty dark green color. I am in the process of prepping the inner/outer surfaces so I can paint it a different color. I have searched on a bunch of sites and all of the paint that is recommended is very expensive. Or at least, more than I want to spend. I dont wanna rob the bank in order to get this boat painted. As long as the paint holds up and it looks good, is all im concerned with. I won't have the boat forever but would like to have it look good for the time i own it. I have heard some people say marine grade paint but for the price.....I'd like to pass. I hear Rustoleum is decent for it, but can't seem to find a site that spells out which product to use. I hear of urethane based enamel but when I do a google search for it, I can't find anything that a local HD or Lowes would carry. Has anyone ever painted an aluminum boat? Can you recommend any cheap/good aluminum paint? spray or roll on, either one. I have never painted a boat no have I ever applied a clear coat. id like to do both.
  7. ooh la la, thank you!!!! thats pretty sweet
  8. hmmm, I stopped in at the registering place yesterday but they were closed and only open Mon-Fri. So I will double check again about having to register it. This was going to be nothing but a paddling canoe....no motor
  9. Hello all Recently I was given a 16ft, Old Town Guide Canoe from a friend that was moving out of state. He didn't wanna haul it with him so it was passed on to me. I was doing some research online and found that in order for me to get this canoe registered, I need to have a bill of sail OR an old registration. As much as I'd hate to say it, none of these items exist. I talked to my friend yesterday and he said they no longer have the bill of sale and never got a registration for it. There are no boat registration decals anywhere on the canoe. Does anyone know a workaround for this? I will do what I have to, but I have no documentation anywhere for it. Anyone have any advice they can offer? (Again, I am located in Ohio)
  10. thanks for the feedback everyone!! Now, if you were to remove that center piece, would that cause damage to the frame of the canoe? Has anyone ever sat a cooler/chair in the middle of a canoe? If so, how does it hold up? Id rather sit in the center of the canoe rather than in the front/rear of it.
  11. I was recently given a 16' Old Town Guide canoe that is in perfect condition. It has a seat at the front of the canoe, as well as the rear. In the center, ttere is this flimsy piece of wood. see attached What the heck is that wooden piece for? What purpose does it serve? Doesn't seem sturdy enough to sit on it. (I am not talking about the paddle)!! Do they sell seats that can be placed in the center of the canoe that mount like the front/back seats?
  12. I think he may mean outdoors for a well ventilated area since you are using a paint stripper. (maybe)
  13. thanks for the tip!!! For right now, I am taking my boat that has a trailer over to his house, and throw it in there. I guess I did have a trailer but it couldn't carry the canoe alone. So the boat will act as a piggy back ride for the canoe I will definitely go the route of making a rack so I can easily transport it to the water.
  14. A friend of mine gave me a 16ft Old Town Guide canoe. I am trying to figure out a way to transport it from his house to mine. Even when i get the canoe home, I'm gonna need help transporting it to the water. I have a chevy s10 that has a 6ft bed. Obviously its 10ft to short. I don't have a trailer or anything of that sort. Does anyone have any cheap, perfect ideas to transport this canoe?
  15. makes two of us........I am not sure what I was hoping for. Possibly more items on sale, and better sales at that.
  16. I am thinking about heading down to Alabama next year for the 2014 Bassmaster. For someone that has NEVER been to one, can anyone offer some insight on what to expect? Is there a lot of things going on to get involved in? Can one go to a Bassmaster classic and seriously be occupied for all three days of the event? Can you become bored just after a few hours? Anyone shed some light on this occassion?
  17. If someone were to go to the Classic, What exactly would they have to pay for? Is all admission free? I have never been to one and was thinking of 2014 in Alabama. I realize you have to pay for food/lodging, etc but for actual Bassmaster Classic events, is there anything that is NOT free?
  18. Meijer is like a Super Walmart or Kroger market place. It's a big department store that has a grocery store/department store all in one.
  19. Not sure if it's too late or not but if you haven't checked your local Meijer fishing section, you may want to do so. Although a lot of the lures/terminal tackle was picked over, I was able to land these: (3) Strike King, Red Eye Special Spinner Baits (1) Booyah Spinner Bait (2) Bomber Model 4A (1) Rapala X-Rap XR10 (1) Rapala X-Rap XR6 (2) Rapala X-Rap XR8 All this for $20 I was pleased!
  20. would anyone mind posting pictures of their "jig & pig" set ups?
  21. ok, i will give this a shot this weekend and see what happens...... thank you all
  22. so what would happen if you put the thick mixture on the chicken and let it cook the whole time? rather than only doing it close\ to it being finished?
  23. mmmmmmmm, ok i will give that a shot......
  24. does the cornstarch add flavor or just texture?
  25. I have been on the hunt for some type of BBQ sauce that I can put on chicken that leaves the THICK and STICKY type sauce when chicken is done cooking. i have tried sauces and brown sugar in hopes of a thick/sticky texture but i am failing. The flavor is there and the sauce remains but its not to the right texture I am hoping for. Does anyone have a recipe they can pass on or maybe some advice to help me get the REAL "BBQ" flavor/texture
