Grannys Packing Heat
That would have been my second choice for her. That is nice little revolver as well. Quite a few women I know carry them when they are shy about a larger caliber.

Grannys Packing Heat
She ought to take a good look at a solid 38 revolver. Nice large round without all the wrist pain. Revolver so there is no problem or complication like most people see with a semi auto. Just my 2 cents and I am glad she wants to take her safety seriously.

Thanks To Everyone
Sorry to hear about your wife. May God get your both through the troubled times ahead. Your ability to identify and act upon what is most critical in your family life is spectacular. Many men cannot identify let alone act upon such important things. Keep your thoughts positive and your life in perspective. Best of luck to you and your family!

.40 Caliber Question
40 caliber is the preferred size here in my area for Law Enforcement and other similar agencies. 40 Caliber has also become a popular round for many with a CPL or CCW for concealed carry or home defense. Even if the state did pull all the permits and registrations for a 40 it would take years to find the gun if they even could. This is just a terrible tragedy and unfortunately someone who owns a gun does not respect the proper usage and discharge of the weapon. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the young boy.

Sirsnookalot- Found Your New Gun
That is very sharp. One of the best engravings that I have seen done. Not overkill, but done very tastefully.

Verizon Contract Renewal
They did away with the unlimited data plans back the end of June 2012. The Galaxy S3 was the last new phone they offered where you could keep it, but only if you preordered. After that they renew your contract into a shared data plan. Figure out your monthly data usage and buy accordingly. My daughter goes over hers all the time and it is $10/ GB so really isn't too steep if you get crazy that month.

Numbing My Gum
Eugenol or Clove oil is the best thing that you can apply over the counter, unless you have an infection brewing back there and then most likely nothing will touch it other than an antibiotic. If you get that infection it is call Pericoronitis. You really have two choices to solve the problem. If it is a wisdom tooth- lose it. If it is just your second molar, then a triangle wedge taken out of the tissue will fix it in no time and only maybe be tender for a day or two. Usually it is a surgeon who does it. if you dentist is a little into the hi-tech side of things they may have a soft tissue laser and that can be done in less than 5 minutes with minimal discomfort and about a day of healing time. NEVER....NEVER....NEVER.....crush and aspirin and place it in the area. That is the quickest way to get a chemical burn and create necrotic tissue and a much larger problem......DID I MENTION NEVER! If you insist on taking a pain medication, Motrin/ Advil/ Ibuprofen are the best for dental pain. They are anti-inflammatory and swelling is your main problem with what you have going on. Best of Luck!

That is a nice little grab Raider. That is on my Bucket list of guns to purchase.

Denied
I hear ya, my wife is an excellent shot as well. Both with a rifle and her 9mm. When we took our CCW class, the officer who was teaching told me to be worried with how well she shot. Then I shot and he said, you got nothing to worry about. He asked if I ever considered getting into law enforcement. I just smiled and said no.

Denied
Raider.....you got yourself a good woman there. My wife gave me a lot of grief because she would not shoot my Colt M4. She said it was too loud. So back in December we had a bunch of friends over and we were all shooting, my 6 year old daughter comes up with the largest smile a man can ask for and asks to shoot it. I explained it too her and showed her the proper way to shoot. She hit paper 5 out of 6 shots at 100 yds. My wife's jaw about dropped. Now I have to buy another one so her and kids can shoot. Never too young at that age as long as they are taught to respect the gun and the damage it can do.

Denied
She may have won the battle, but not the war. Any right man would go buy that rifle, out a scope on it and make it a proper Christmas gift in December. That would be close enough to 2014 and he will be a year older or close enough.

I Was Right
There are plenty of guys who did triple their money. Those who got out a month ago with product did good. Those to got our since then can do good, but no triple their $$. Same with ammo and guns. I got plenty of everything by October and sat on it. I did not intend to sell, but wanted it for protection and for sport. Worked out well for me. I had plenty of offers to buy, just didn't do it.

I Was Right
Back in January the prices around here spiked, but most of it was at the dealer level due to demand. Most couldn't get the guns, and when they did they inflated the prices cause some nut would pay it. At the shows the prices went up about 15-20%, they are coming back down now. The only place I still seen big inflation were for the SKS.....you could get those guns for $200-300 and now they are $500 or more all day. Everyone that grabbed those 22lr bricks quickly put them back and then said some choice words to those selling them. It was ridiculous. Now we wait for the supply to resume. I haven't seen a 17 round in short supply here. The prices have actually dropped here lower than before this all started for that round.

I Was Right
I was just at a gun show yesterday and ammo prices have come down just a touch, but nothing that the day of the week wouldn't reflect normally. 9mm and 22lr are still through the roof, but can be found. I did manage to find boxes of 50 rounds reloaded 9mm for $16 and 50 rounds of 22lr were going for $10 for a box of thunderbolts. Cheapest brick I found was $95. The prices will drop, just not all the way back down. Couple of the larger vendors were saying that the primers and powder were still limited so reloaders were struggling too. It is all supply and demand. If the MFG's can keep the balance we will never see "cheap" ammo again. It will have an inflated premium. You could find rifles there too and the prices had dropped considerably. The prices on accessories has increased though. All those people who bought guns are trying to trick them out now.

Purchasing Ar-15
Took me some time, but I will finally chime in here. You have two different things to consider. The first is the rifle itself and the second is accessories. When considering my first rifle I had a couple of things I looked at. 1. Price 2. Availability 3. Dependability 4. Style 5. Other people's recommendations. You already know #1, you can easily find out #2 by looking in your local area or contacting FFL dealers. #3 is a little more research on your part. Try to narrow #2 and then research those. #4 is just a personal preference and #5 is very open ended. When I was researching I found a lot of good and bad on multiple brands. In the end I went with an old industry standard as it also fit my other 4 criteria. As for accessories, the sky is the limit. Find a shop that sells them or a gun show. You don't have to buy, but you can get an idea of what you like and where to find it. If you are gonna spend the money do the work. My father in law has wanted one for a while, the gun nightmare started and he was scrambling to get one. Now he has a $1700 Bushmaster that is not what he wanted. Just last week a local gun dealer here had a huge sale and an inventory of around 100 rifles. They had the exact rifle he wanted for $1200. Keep your eyes open and don't overpay because of impulse.

I Was Right
I agree with you Raider about things returning to normal. It will take a little time, but it will get there. The only issue will be that normal will probably cost a little more than it used to back in November. The dealers and manufacturers know they can increase their prices a little and improve their bottom line, customers will continue to buy.

Keeping Your Sanity
My advice, 1) enjoy the boys.....you will never get that back! 2) keep the girlfriend thing low key and make sure you are able to give your sons the attention they need 3) make time yourself (and the GF if you desire).......that couple of minutes or hours a week helps 4) be glad that your ex seems to be disappearing from the picture. You may get the opportunity of a lifetime by her not being around to either mess it up or ruin the relationship between you and your sons. If that means you need to financially tighten the belt then so be it, I would love to have my wife's ex gone from our lives. He doesn't support them, but sure makes himself a huge pain.

Root Canal
Yeah, that was probably your problem. Pen VK is the basic first round of antibiotics and with a tooth having secondary trouble you need to start with something a little stronger. As for pain meds, I have ever prescribed anything stronger than Vicodin, but in a heavy inflammation reaction I often prescribe Vicoprofen. Would have worked well for you I am betting. It has the same narcotic, but is based used Ibuprofen rather than Tylenol. Is usually more expensive, but does well. For most dental pain Vicodin or Tylenol 3 are the go to drugs. Sounds like they were in the ball.park, but not using the right pitcher. Happens often. Each patient is also different. Sorry you had to experience such terrible pain. Hope it all works well for you, keep an eye on that tooth.
-
Root Canal
I was asking about antibiotics from the initial pain standpoint. All dental infections cause pain through inflammation. I have never had a dental infection I have not been able to get under control within 72 hours and only because I was limited on the type of antibiotics I could use due to allergies. As far as treating the abscess permanently, nope gonna need that Apico to fix that. Glad to hear you are fixed and on the mend.

Root Canal
Didn't they put you on an antibiotic? A good strong antibiotic can nip this in the butt within 24-36 hours. You should be fine after a couple of days. May get a little bruising, but all should be good. Keep an eye on the tooth, I have seen this too many times.
