Pmag Availability?
You can have all mags you want, but if you don't have the ammo to put in them they are useless. My area is drier than a popcorn fart. Guess it is time to break out the old press and start reloading.

Nicoles New Carry
Ah, I see now. I misunderatood what you were asking. I don't have any recommendations, but check out Cheaper Than Dirt. You might see some goos reviews for one that fits your weapon. Just my 2 cents. BTW.....let me know how that thing shoots after it is broken in. I am in thr market for a .380 for an ankle holster.

Nicoles New Carry
Did you ask the place you bought it from? They would probably be very happy to sell you an uograded grip that is exactly what you are looking for. Unfortunately you are gonna get a million opinoins for a million great products that may not be exactly what you are looking for. This is the same way with holsters. Heck, they might even be able to order a replacement set of grips that are exactly what you are looking for.

Pmag Availability?
Good find. I have not been looking, but have heard many people cannot find them in my area. I personally am not a fan of them after I had one split on me, but good find none the less.

I Feel Like Branching Out
I would wait a bit and see how the laws end up changing. There is a ton of concern about what is being sold and how it is being sold and whom it is being sold to. I would hate to see anyone get into the start up costs for a business only to have the main products they sell be taken off the market or such tight restrictions placed that they cannot make a profit. I do believe that it would be a great idea, we have a friend here who has his Class 3 FFL and he basically sells out of his house by order only. You want it, you pay for it, he gets it. Plain and simple way to get a clientele established before going all in and keeping inventory on a shelf somewhere. Good luck in whatever you decide! Just my 2 cents.

Hi Point 9Mm
Let's look at this from a different perspective. Not everyone on here is in the financial situation to afford a $1000 gun and the difference of a few hundred dollars may be a lot. If the Hi-Point is what you can afford now and you have been saving to get such a weapon at that price point for quite a while, then why not. If you think that adding a couple of hundred dollars to that purchase price may put you out another year or two from purchasing then it might be a great investment at this time. Who knows, your financial situation could change tomorrow and you may be able to add another weapon of even nicer quality. I do however want you to consider the cost of purchasing practice rounds and a small supply of defense rounds. For practice rounds you can get the cheap stuff if you can find it and if your gun will shoot it. You should put a 1000 rounds each through that gun between your wife and you as a minimum. You need to understand how that feels and how you react to it. You need to find the limit for your wife and yourself and get very comfortable with it. Between the courses you should take, the rounds you will need and the weapon itself you can easily rack up a $500-$750 bill. Right now is an expensive time to purchase, demand is high and supply is dwindling. Just another perspective.

How Did Everyone Do In The Deer Season?
I got that 8 point that I shot the opening day of Muzzleloader season (picture from your other thread) and then I followed up with a large doe the last day of muzzleloader season. We have been eating it like no mans business. This was my first time back in the woods in 19 years so I am happy with that.

Hi Point 9Mm
Just a suggestion, ask around.....you may find a friend or family member who is willing to part ways with a pistol that would do you just fine for less money. A used gun is no less for defense than a new gun. Just ask questions about it before you buy it. They should be honest about how well it shoots.

Home Defense And Collateral Damage
Glenn makes a great statement here. If you are concerned about collateral damage you can always look into a round that is frangible. They are designed not to over penetrate and are thus and ideal round for this situation. From my point of view a training course is great. I took one right after I got my CPL and am glad that I did. My wife and I also have had scenario training for our children, ages 6, 8, 14, 19. We have walked them through what to do if the house alarm goes off, what to do if the smoke detector goes off, where to hunker down and how to react. Yes, maybe I am a little extreme, we have trained them in the middle of the night while they are sleeping to see if they actually do what they are told. Training in this situation is always your best defense. I am going to assume that you have looked into some form of gun safe for that pistol you are considering...... More kids die from getting their hands on a gun while not being trained what to do with it than from getting caught in a home invasion cross fire. I have both a pistol for defense in the house and a shotgun with a strobe flashlight mounted at the barrel. I can see what I am aiming at and they are disoriented by the strobe while I am aiming. Both are locked in different safes within my house while not on my person.

45 Caliber Too Much
Speaking from a guy who likes to wear shorts, likes to not have to wear a jacket all the time and does occasionally tuck in his shirt I prefer the smaller of the bunch and go with a 9mm. I have found that a .45 is too large of a frame for me to CC and be comfortable. I also carried a .40 and decided that while nice, it is much more expensive to shoot at targets with than a 9mm. I opted for the my 9mm for 3 reasons: 1) comfort 2) cost to purchase and shoot 3) protection. With some high quality defense rounds you don't have to worry about knock down power if you turn their insides to mush. The rounds I purchased are police rounds used by our local sheriff's dept. Had my buddy pick them up at the Police Equipment for me. I have no fear that I will not be able to stop a threat. If you are considering a new gun, find place you can rent them or find a friend who has what you are considering. Go shoot it, you might be surprised at the outcome. I thought for sure my 9mm would be uncomfortable for my wife, she absolutely loves it and carries the same gun, only in Stainless Steel to make it "pretty".

Hi Point 9Mm
If you are looking for home defense there are more reliable guns on the market. You could look at a kel-tec if you still want cheap and a little more reliable. I would probably spend the extra $100-200 and upgrade to something a whole lot more reliable. I love my Ruger SR9c. Both the wife and I each carry one. I also am a fan of the LC9, though it kicks a little harder. If you are looking for a home defense and are open, look at a wheel gun, plenty on the market and very reliable. On a side note, I know people who have had problems with Hi-Point, Taurus, and Kel-tec when getting factory service done. I had an issue with a cam block pin for my SR9c.7 days including shipping and it was as good as new. Ruger paid for everything and an American answered the phone at 8pm.

Electricians Help
Back when I lived in an apartment for college I mentioned to the maintenance man that I never used my disposal. He said if you are not going to use it, then run some ice cubes through it once a month to keep it moving and keep it from seizing up. Might be worth a try. He mentioned someone cleaning a fish tank out in one too. Said it doesn't take much to get them grinding. He said he just broke it loose, ran some ice through it. Might be worth a try.

No Black Eyed Peas. Just Deer Chili!
We had deer tacos yesterday. None of my kids suspect any different than regular beef tacos. We bought a quarter cow from a friend and it is delicious. My wife wished we had more ground into burger, got two deer and now we have plenty of burger. Also ground some venison into breakfast sausage by mixing it with salt pork and breakfast sausage seasoning package. It is delicious.

A Southern Blizzard
I gotta admit, this kind of made my day. My father-in-law owns a time share that my wife and I often use. Last year we left Christmas night and spent 5 days in Nashville, TN. After seeing us have a great time, my FIL insisted that we all go again this year. He was on my wife for two weeks to get the reservations made and was relentless. A week after making the reservation he decided that him and his girlfriend were just gonna go alone and basically told us we were not welcome. Two weeks ago it slipped that some of her family were the going with them. They were looking forward to warm weather and no snow! It is the little things to be thankful for.

Are You A Sheep Or Sheepdog?
Thank you for posting this. This is a great read and one most people will not listen to, even given the scope and intelligence from which he can speak from. That book is also a great read and one that most men under the age of 40 should read. With the increase in single parent households, most of which are being raised by women, any man can benefit from seeing HIS role in society.

Would Love To Hunt
Do you have property to hunt already? That is the big issue. From there I recommend spending a lot of time on the property to get to know how the deer are traveling. As far as what to use... Bow, Crossbow, Shotgun, Rifle or Muzzleloader. It is all up to you and how your state regulates. I got back into hunting this year after almost 20 years off. I had no special clothing, no special equipment. Just chatted with friends for ideas, practiced with my guns, and watched a few hunting shows. Most people will be glad to help. Not sure a forum is the best place to learn as locations vary greatly.

My First Deer
Same to you. That first one was pure excitement. I couldn't sleep that night! Heck, the only reason I am hunting for the first time in almost 20 years is cause my youngest son asked me to take him out. He decided to stay inside and eat popcorn the night I shot that buck.

Questions From My 4Yr Old.
I remember those days from just a few years ago. Be glad your child wants to know more. There will be plenty of time for them to be influenced by those who just want them to do it their way without any questions. The best part of the why stage is when you finally see that light bulb go on in their head and it clicks. To see their face when they finally get it is priceless.

My First Deer
Got my first deer last night. I missed one during shotgun season and went out last night for the first time ever with my new TC Impact Muzzleloader. I was watching three doe as they were walking away from me (100 yds) out. I started to pack my gear up when this one and a smaller buck came out 20 yds from behind me. I was pumped. Wife and kids helped me track it. I know it isn't a wall mount, but it is still my first!
