  1. even when using spinning gear , you will have to pick up slack line that can cause wind knots. also , using your thumb for tension can make the line spool on one side of the spool more than the other. best thing to do imo , is when the line is loose on the spool is to make a long cast and reel it in with the line between your fingers in front of the reel. also what sam suggested.
  2. i would have to agree. i dont see 7" tequila sunrise ribbon tail worms swimming around my lakes (it would be pretty cool though lol), but the bass eat them when i cast em out. i cant tell you how many bass ive caught on unnatural colors vs. natural colors , but both do catch fish.
  3. You shouldn't. Yes you will catch fish on those patterns even if they are not present but from everything i've learned MATCH THE HATCH. thats what i was getting at. its not the shad youre wanting to imitate , but whatever the bass feed on in that particular lake.
  4. niiice fish.
  5. wellllll....afaik , not every lake has shad. my lakes main bait fish are tilapia and cichlids. so why would i make a big deal to imitate something thats not even there. :-? personally , ive always had success with baits that look like smaller fish in natural colors.
  6. i voted kiss. i think they just plain annoying. never really listened to any of the others besides nickelback. they suck too but KISS takes the cake.
  7. btw , i think my sister has the 638 as well. she has nothing but good to say about it and prefers it over her P2000.
  8. i lol'dddddddddddddddddddddddddd ;D i did too ;D
  9. get the franc outta here....?
  10. i bought a pack of newports. :
  11. check your line. is it worn? old? brittle? check your guides. are they damaged? check your drag. are you swinging for the fences with your drag locked down? check your knots. are they tied properly? where is the line breaking at?
  12. ive been to a few. my favorite had to be the sick and twisted tour. korn just released issues and staind just came out with dysfunction. great times.

most of the lakes around me are pretty clear. same with the c-1 canal. i think they cleared up more with the rains we had too. the water is also noticeably cooler. i was wading around today and immediately noticed when i stepped in compared to even a month ago. im always down to fish lol. im not sure how often you are down in my area , but i should be up by you this weekend. ill shoot you a PM if im heading that way.
  18. sounds fun. great pics too!

thanks. originally , i was going for peas. imo , they like a fast twitched jerk bait on the surface or right below it. they went for it but missed. so i slowed it down some and let it sink for 5-10 seconds before doing a twitch/pause retrieve. she took it right after a twitch. probably 5ft below the surface of the water right past the drop off.
  20. ive always wondered about those smaller SB's and the peas. i kinda figured they would take it , but now we know for sure. the baby shad is looking nicer too.. good stuff.
  21. well , people have won the lottery. and they didnt win by not playing... personally , i dont play it. i have been thinking about giving the power ball a shot though...
  22. ...is brought to you by a fluke. white w/ char. tail in color and t-rigged weightless. i finally got a measuring tape. took this ones stats and shes about 19" long and 16" around. our fish weight calculator says 5.66lbs. 8-) she put up a serious fight. even though its a rough estimate , its nice to finally be able to put a weight with these fish. a scale is going on the x-mas list.
  23. lol @ someone showing up to a job site with one of those.
