hm , they look pretty nice. they have one thats just what im looking for as well. how is the sensitivity on these?

also , my scale says the c801 is 8.25oz. ffo tackle says 7.9oz. :-? ..i may open it later to see where this weight is coming from...

i just wanted a reel that would stand whatever gets hooked on the other end. this seemed to be it within my budget. ill post up pictures later since i know everyone likes to look at reels.

i got both of them in front of me. i do prefer the 801. the 601 has more of 'gear-y' feeling to it. the 801 feels more solid and smooth. heavier to the hand than my previous president 6725 , but still comfortable. this will be my UL rig untill i get a light action spinning rod. btw , ffo tackle was quick with both my orders , and both included some freebies (some berkly wacky crawlers and a #1/4 spool of 25lb blue trilene big game). i would order from them again.

apparently , once your order is processed (not shipped) , they wont cancel it. i was told that i will have to return the c601 once it arrives to get issued a refund. : i went ahead and ordered the c801 as well so i can compare the two and see which one i would like to keep. once my floogers are gone , ill be down to one baitcasting and a UL/L rig.

after a nights sleep , i decided to send them an email asking if i can get the 801 instead and be charged the difference. they havnt sent me an email saying my order has been shipped , so i would imagine it shouldnt be an issue. :-X

from what i understood the 601 has all metal construction and hcpr bearings as well. at $20 more, would you suggest i get the 801 instead? what ever reels i buy next i want them to last as long as possible and be able to pull in what ever i hook on to. and my 6725 will be posted for sale tomorrow.

just ordered a reconditioned c601 from ffo tackle. everyone seems pleased with their baitcasters , so i bit the bullet and went with this. i noticed they also had a c801 for $20 more. is there that much of a difference? the reel MIGHT see saltwater one or twice in its life , but thats a big maybe. ill be coming from a pflueger president 6725.

The X-rap isn't a crankbait. :-? sorry. jerk*bait , but it is still a rapala product. cant recall which one of their baits was having the broken lip problems..

i mean , i will continue to buy the origonal floating rapalas (countdowns , shad raps , and a few others). those also catch me fish when nothing else will. tons of ways to fish them. the crank in question was the x-rap series and whatever ones with the internal rattles. ive also read about some of the lips getting damaged easily. ive never seen this personally , but i am always open to trying other brands with the people on a budget in mind. i will check out the bomber , bandit , and normans since those seem to be recommended the most. thanks guys. (raul , if you ever wanted to get rid of some of those 700+ cranks at a deal of a price let me know ;D)

after reading about people bad experiences with rapala's , i was wondering what cranks are at or around the same price range and quality (or what rapala's quality used to be)? say ~$5 a piece? i tried a couple rebels and would much rather watch their action as they are being flushed down the toilet.

iirc , i tried adjusting the knot position and it still wasnt what it was supposed to be. ive only fished it once , and after seeing its action , i threw it back in the box. ill try it again though. rapala site said they were size 10. i noticed VMC makes a long and a short shank. should i go for one over the other? thanks.

i still have to get my NC state license so i can get the resident fishing license , but when i do , ill be ready.

i have a this jointed floating rebel minnow crank that swims like poop. it always goes to one side. i bought it at boaters world when they were going out for a buck and some change so im not too worried about it , but i was wondering if there is any way i can correct it. i also have a jointed rapala (size 5 , iirc) that has a broken rear hook. what hooks do you guys use to replace them?

instead of using a snap , why not tie a loop/rapala knot? i personally dont tie them because ive never been able to tie them right , but every crank i cast , the action is just fine with a uni or palomar knot.

since i dont have a vehicle at the time (using my fiances), im looking for the closest spots around. we went to benson when i was up her this past winter , but it was pretty dead from the spot on shore we found right before the dam. and from what ive heard , they mainly do jon boat rentals. i plan on picking one up from craigslist soon though. we're still very new to the area (just got here friday) , so we still have to venture around and see what looks good. :

not too sure if ill be near charlotte , but ill def let you know. well , in miami , if we ever got bored , we went to the beach. lol. but im looking forward to going to some car shows since im really into car audio. but other than that , fishing is my main thing since its ALOT cheaper.

just moved here from Miami , Fl. what do you NC guys do up here? and is anyone down to meet up and do some fishing? ive been looking at google maps all day and alot of places dont seem accessible , but im sure they are. just dont want to be driving around getting lost and wasting gas for nothing.

i use 6 lb xl on my UL rig and 10lb big game on the baitcaster. no complaints. and after some line butter? there is very little memory.

theres tons of mullet down here by black point (i live less than 5 minutes from it). i know one of the tackle shops on old cutler used to sell shiners , but i havnt been into one of those in years. if anyone is down around my way , im always down to fish.

i have both the 6725 and 6740 pflueger president and they are great reels for the money. i never hooked onto any larger fish , but ive had plenty of peacock bass run out some line and the reel will pull them back to you with no problem. both have seen saltwater , and after a good rinse , i wouldnt of been able to tell. smooth as butter and pretty solid.
