  1. after a nice weekend at universal/islands of adventures , we went back to the cousins place in broward to do a bit of fishing. i brought out my UL rig since it fit in the back with the bags and such. first i tried a weightless brush bug t-rigged , nothing. next , a beaver craw t-rigged and weightless , still nothing. so i brought out the origonal floating rapala , black and gold size 7. after a few casts and a minute long fight , i brought in this guy... my first 'real' fight on the UL. i think im going to start to stick to the hard baits since i never seem to have any luck on plastics but id hate to give up on them since theyre so cheap and apparently people have great luck with them. i was trying every retrieve i could think of. fast , slow , stop and go , hard jerks , soft jerks , twiching and i never brought anything in on them in a year or so. maybe ive lost my touch? also , fighting that fish on my 5'6 fugly stick light , i realized - while i did land the fish , the rod has NO backbone. just thought id share.
  2. lol. believe me , i do. but when it comes to unloading 600-2000 piece trucks two times a week , you can get a bit careless with the lifting skills. also , after 2.5 years of being with the company , im still part time. and whenever a position comes that i want , i always get the shaft and they give it to someone else because they dont want me to leave my current position because i do such a good job. meh.
  3. well , this kinda took off. ive come to the point where i absolutly do not want to go to work at all. but i have bills to pay , so i have to. also , my back and knees have been acting up and at 22 years old , so i think i need to find a less physical job before it gets worse. lifting lawn mowers and propane grills over my head gets very old very quick. :-/
  4. ill be in the fuquay area then over to cary shortly after. being a cop is out of the question , especially with my record , lol. ive thought about the IT feild...
  5. where do you guys work , for how long and do you actually enjoy it. to where you like going into work and could work 12 hour shifts if you needed to. currently im working at Sears as a Preventative Maitenance Tech. but i do 5 other positions as well due to the economy and our company refusing to hire the people we need. ive been with them for 2.5 years and i dont hate work , just my current position. im just trying to get some input on jobs that maybe ive never concidered applying for. when i move to NC , i plan on applying for a park worker/maitenance guy. maybe even a BPS or Dicks, but im open to whatever. so....
  6. seen 'em live before. they were good stuff , havnt heard any of their newer stuff though.
  7. i love my UL rig.. Ugly Stick Lite 5'6" UL ( i know , i plan on picking up another rod when money allows , but it works fine for now.) Pflueger President 6725 Trilene XL 6lb. im also growing to like my baitcaster that i just got into.. 6' Shimano Compre M Shimano Citica 201D Trilene Big Game 10lb.
  8. ive never had problems with trilene xl. i have that in 6lb on one reel and big game in 10lb on the other. i plan on trying out sufix elite soon..
  9. like i said , ive never had a problem with them since i fish on a budget. i guess i can pick them up and worst case , im out a few dollars. shoot , ive wasted more money than that on other things , so why not. and personally , ive never broke a hook in my life.
  10. is there a general rule of thumb for swivel sizes? as small as possible? or can you never go to big?
  11. bah. i guess its hit or miss with 'em. well , i currently have around 7 of each size (1/0 , 2/0 and 3/0) and a few octopus hooks. when i go take a look at the store , ill see if i can come across a deal. i guess worst case , ill save my change and order from TW and get the free shipping.
  12. when i was in NC , i used size 3 and 5 floating and jointed rapalas with a split shot just heavy enough to slowly sink the lure about 16 inches up. cast and let the weight touch bottom then slowly bring it in. i use a president 6725 on a fugly stick lite 5'6 ul rod with #6 trilene xl. we were catching them left and right in the early morning. t'was very fun times.
  13. i think thats what it is around here also. i dont think ill be purchasing $50 worth of hooks and sinkers to qualify for free shipping at TW so online would be out of the question if i have to pay for shipping..
  14. wondering how you guys would compare them to the other brands like gammys and owners. personally , im a cheap-o and ive never had a problem with them. on the other hand , i havnt used them long enough to come across an issue. i see that they have 'kits' that have 60+ hooks of various sizes for around $10 that seems right up my alley. avoid? great for the money?
  15. i had my first baitcating practice session in the backyard today....and im terrible. after reading though these posts and the links in them , i have a few things to try. and ill have to agree , they are completly different from spining, but im determined.

ive seen it .... but not in theaters. minus the terrible sound quality , it wasnt bad at all. not THE BEST , but i liked it. in no way does it compare to the professional , but it was still pretty good , imo.
  17. love both of em. i have the 6725 and the 6740. VERY smooth and ive taken both of them to the local marina for a bit of shore fishing and i have no complaints at all. i picked up the 6740 combo for a steal at a sports authority and the 6725 off ebay. id suggest to anyone to check them out if theyre on a budget.
  18. regaurdless , it does have zombie/demons in it as far as i can remember...
  19. ive always liked Army of Darkness....lol. "shop smart. shop 'S-Mart'."
  20. lol. ive used google earth before and the street level view gets a bit grainy. the 'birds eye' on this looks much better and seems to have the same satillite images as google earth. i didnt see it posted anywhere and just thought id share since i know people always like to mess with 'new' things. here is this guys view of google maps as well... http://www.drewgregory.com/archives/911
  21. http://www.drewgregory.com/archives/148 http://maps.live.com/ i thought it was quite nifty.
  22. very nice....moar?
  23. ive seen a clip of some of the training and its intense. i thought about conditioning myself for it but not actually doing it , but my knees , wrists and ankles screamed "no!". i also thought about getting into breakdancing .... nope. yes , im 22 , but my body feels much older. :-/
  24. i have 3 now. one 5'6 UL with a president 6725 one 7' M with a president 6740 (its a bit too heavy for my liking and i think ill pick up a MH rod to throw it on or trade for a 6735) and just got my citica thats going on a 6' M compre.
