1/16 to 3/8 for me. always unpegged.
  4. flukes , ive used 3/0-5/0 ewg. the tiny flukes , i use 1/0 ewg. both t-rigged weightless or unpegged with 3/16 to 3/8 oz. baby bass , watermelon , and while/char. tail is what i have. ive also picked up a bag of DOA's jerk shad and a coworker out fished me that day using the doa's while i used the zoom. could be the attractant doa uses , but they do work in freshwater.
  5. original floating rapala. add a split shot 6-12" in front for more depth.
  6. all i use is trilene xl 6lb in green on my UL reel. no complaints here./
  7. i have the 201d. the profile doesnt bother me at all. i actually think its quite comfortable on the compre rod. the E is lighter in weight , has the smaller profile and i think less line capacity (correct me if im wrong). id say , just pick up a used D since they sell cheap and wait untill the E's come down some.
  8. i <3 tackle. everytime i go into a tackle store , i have to walk out with something. a $4 pack of plastics , bags of weights or a rod/reel. if i dont , i wont sleep well. i am coming to the point to where i know what works for me but there are so many baits out now , that im sure one will work better than the other and im trying to find 'the one/s'. i am getting better at my spending since my financial advisor (fiance) has been on my case about all my fishing crap. but im sure once she gets her pink trion spinning combo , she'll be alright.
  9. nah , theyre all over here. ive fished quite a few lakes from south dade on up to broward and all ive really cought were peacocks with the exception of the few LMB's. im thinking the warmer climate down here really gets em going since they seem to be more aggressive than the LM's. they are native to south/central america so it makes sense to me. im really going to miss the peacocks when i move to NC.

also , how does the ardent line conditioner compare to the others? i put some on the line i have and im going out tomorrow morning, ive just never used any of these line products before.

the store is on sw 136 ave and us1. right across from the falls mall. exit the turnpike at sw 152nd , and head east to us1. go north to 136st and its on the right hand side in the corner. youll see a panera , checkers , gap and marshalls all in the plaza. the store was pretty bad. the only thing they had alot of was the saltwater berkley plastics like the smaller crabs , some storm plastics and some others i cant recall. they did have some rattle traps , yo-zuris and the giant rapala magnums. next to no terminal tackle. not too sure about boat crap since i dont have one i didnt look , sorry. id suggest giving them a call soon to see if they have what youre looking for.
  12. hm.. good thought , but wouldnt the roughed up paint/lead that is left be a problem for the line? obviously you'd smooth it up some. ill find a way. thanks guys.
  13. interesting , this just came to me... of alllll the bass i cought down here in south florida , i have landed very very very few LMB's. they are almost all peacocks. im not arguing since they do put up a heck of a fight and are a hardy fish , but id like to see more LM's hanging on my hook as well.
  14. if rick astley uses a hook , then im all for it. ;D last time i tried the hook , i almost snagged my finger. ill try it again with a steadier hand.
  15. if im by myself , never. if im with someone else and were not getting anything and are just in the BS'ing mood , maybe. but i really prefer silence or some light talking with the partner.
  16. today i left with: 1x heddon zara puppy 1x rebel jointed minnow 1x rebel minnow (5/64oz) 2x mini rat-l-traps 1x original rat-l-trap 1x zman 6" swimbaits 1x ardent line conditioner 1x pack of doa jerk baits ....$23.xx i dont think i did too bad. what was left of the store was a mess and it was hard to find what i did. i never fished any of these cranks before but they looked good in the packaging , lol. whats the running depth of the rat-l-traps?
  17. ah , maybe i have a terrible choice of words. not the eyes that are painted on the sides of the jig , but the eye (if thats whats its called) where your line goes through. the paint they use on these things are super thick.
  18. is there an easy way? i bought some cheap-o jigs at boaters world just to try but all of the eyes are painted.

ive never fished a painted weight of any kind. the lead color works just fine for me and not one fish i landed complained about the color. so im with the others when i say , they really dont care.

if i do fish minnows/shiners , ill always hook through the lips. you want to do directly behind the lips , but stay in front of the eyes. make sure you have a SHARP hook and the fish will stay alive and swim around. ive noticed , whenever i hook them through the tail or back , they dont want to swim around and be lively. with a smaller sharp hook through the lips , they have full motion of their tail.
  21. Citica 201D on a Compre 6'6" M President 6725 on a Fugly Stick Lite 5' UL i fish from shore.
  22. cant comment on the rod , but the citica d's are excellent. i have mine on a compre 6'6"M rod and its just lovely.
  23. 2 of the 'heavy' brakes on , on my citica 201d.
