  1. how is the cxx on spinning reels? i picked up a small spool of the 6lb to try out , but i havnt spooled it up yet..
  2. two in front , two in rear. casting reels is a different story. i also find that i have no coordination when i cast overhead. sometimes it goes 10ft up and 15ft forward other times i can cast across the lake. sidearm is my casting method of choice though, im pretty accurate that way.

    i chuckled. ;D
  4. florida weather is nothing to mess with. i remember i was working at sears taking a break out side during a rain storm and a lighting decided to strike the building about 50 feet from me. shook everything in the store. funny thing is , the power didnt even go out. but on a day where the sky doesnt have a cloud in sight , the power would go off , systems would be down etc. thats one thing i dont miss about florida. i always thought some jerk was at the powerplant just leaning on some control panel and making everyones day a pita.
  5. the 300u is a step up from the 100 series. i found it at around $30 before shipping. ill check out wally world and dicks to see what they have on display so i can play with them
  6. i did a quick search for the reel and found nothing. i did find a cardinal 300u for $30. cant seem to find a deal on a 6720.
  7. i feel dumb now. i have owned the 6725 and 6740. they are great reels. ive looked at the 6720 under the president section on pfluegers website , but it didnt show it with a rubber handle. just the 50 and 60 models. http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/products/products.php?p=12
  8. thinking about picking up a smaller reel that will better suit my UL rod. i stumbled across an older abu reel , the cardinal 600u stamina drag? reel. is it worth ~$40 or is it junk? i would go with a president 6720 , but after using my c801 with the full rubber grips , i dont want another rosewood handle. if that c600u isnt worth it , what about the newer 300u? http://www.great-lakes.org/reviews/review-11-18,25-02.html any suggestions for something under $50?
  9. 6lb trilene xl on my spinning 10lb big game on my bait caster. both are pretty cheap and will stand up to big fish if it has been stored right. ive always wanted to give sufix elite a shot , but i decided to pick up a spool of p-line cxx instead.
  10. it is a copolymer , correct? i ended up picking up a small spool of 6lb cxx because i can never seem to find the hybrid in any stores i go to except BPS which is a few hour drive from me now. is there any other copolymer that compares? and as far as line color , i made the switch from clear colored line to green and havnt had any problems. i can barely see it when it hits the water. clear line i can easily see it making me think the fish can too. i also think it looks great on my reels.
  11. hold onto it for now. im still cleaning out things trying to put funds together for the yak. when i get closer to getting it , ill let you know. thanks alot for the offer though.
  12. the one im looking at is a used SOT pelican castaway that dicks sporting goods seems to always have specials on. from what ive read, it seems to be the heaviest in its size 'class' as well. oh well , whats a few dents and scratches here and there?
  13. ah , that would make sense. when you load/unload it , do you put on one side at a time and adjust once its on there or just pick the whole thing up? im kinda smaller at 5'7 and 150lbs and lifting a 60lb kayak sounds like a mission. someone recommended this paddle http://www.bendingbranches.com/whisper.php for something under $100 and didnt really have anything negative to say about it. sorry for all the questions but im just trying to think of anything that may be an issue so i can save myself the headaches/embarrassment lol.
  14. something that crossed my mind about those foam pads. when youre loading it onto the roof , do they shift around alot? or are they those closed cell type that stay put when a little weight is put on them? i just pictured myself trying to put a kayak back on the roof and those foam blocks sliding all over the place. also , what length paddle do you use?
  15. Flukes! the super fluke or super fluke jr. i almost always catch fish with them. next would have to be swimming senko. havnt had as much bites on any other plastics ive tried than these two.
  16. i hear ya on the driving. i just moved to NC from miami , and it seems like im in a different country. people use turn signals up here! anyways , those pads would be perfect. im not trying to spend $100+ on a roof rack for something that i may not do for long. i like Franchos rack , but the price...eh. maybe if i get more into kayaking which im sure i will. ill keep that in mind when i go PFD shopping. i was planning on ordering one from cabelas , but i really dont know what to look for , so ill shop in person. btw , how do you like that little accent?
  17. how do you transport your yak? im planning on picking one up in the next few weeks and just trying to understand how ill do this. ill either be using a 4 door accord that doesnt have a roof rack , or a minivan. i know there are the purpose built kayak racks that go for ~$200+ , but i was wondering if anyone has rigged something before that was highway safe. also , what PFDs do you prefer? the high back type for support , or something with mesh shoulders/back for comfort.
  18. i got a pack of the zmans swimbaits but i havnt tried them yet. i can say that they are super stretchy though.
  19. only pink in my tackle box is a couple rattle traps that boaters world sold me for a buck and some change. my fiances cousin seen me pull out the pink and chrome trap (yes i said it) and was almost in tears. but it did catch fish and thats what matters.
  20. ive been all through the FAQ's. you didnt know? i stocked my tub full of bass. most of them were from the dents and dings specials. ive fished them quite a few times and got nothing but as soon as i throw a fluke , they nail it. im going to give them another shot since they obviously work. i just find it odd that everyone and their mother has great luck with them and i dont. ...now that i think of it , i did use them when i was in miami and the ratio of peacocks to largemough is like 20:1. maybe ill have better luck here in NC. now swimming senkos ... thats a whole different story.
  21. i have seen these on the shelves but always wondered if they leave rough edges ...
  22. i have something like 30 trick sticks in 3" , 4" and 5". i havnt cought a single fish on any of them. >
  23. that sucks. i have had similar experiences and i always tell myself , the thieves or whoever will get what is coming to them one way or another.
  24. i found this apex , which seems to be the castaway without the front storage. and it seems they goes on sale for ~$350 at times. how often do you kayak guys even use front storage when you go for a few hour outing?
  25. double dose some immodium and hope for the best?
