Last month to fish
Ah, out there below Pittsburgh (had to google it). You're probably a little too far west to meet up with me for an outing. The closest I've fished to where you're moving is out by Bedford at a little lake called Shawnee. Not a bad place to fish and there are (or at least were) some good ones in there! That's gotta be tough on you living that far away with a little one on the way! Hang in there!

Maryland's Who's who!
Are you referring to Middletown Park as you were discussing earlier in this thread? Yep! Same one. Wasn't sure how much of the thread you may have checked out. I was there a couple days ago. The upper end of the pond had a TON of slop floating on the top and the grass can make it a challenge but it can be a rewarding place to fish. I've been told, never saw, there have been 6lb plus largemouths caught in there. My biggest out of there is 4 1/2lbs. As I've told others, if you happen to see me out, be sure to stop and say hi!

Maryland's Who's who!
VAfisherinMD, Since you're new to the Frederick area, there's also a pond over in Middletown that I fish for bass from time to time. There's some decent sized largemouth in there too! Thought I'd throw that out there for you too.

Thanks for the assist there Brian! Sorry to hear about your truck too!

Maryland's Who's who!
Welcome to THE boards VAfisherinMD! Are you familiar on how to get to Dickerson? If you need exact directions, let us know and we'll get you hooked up! The spots that Boett is referring to are the C&O canal and the warm water discharge area for the power plant. For me, I typically don't fish the warm water area after it starts warming up in the spring (love fising the in the winter!). I really just started fishing the canal this year (I've only half heartedly fished it in the past a handful of times). But there are plenty of bassy looking areas all through the canal (stumps, laydowns and plenty of grass)!

Tattoo design
I don't know what you're talking about SPEED! When have you ever seen me throw a spinnerbait? LOL! And I'm surprised you don't already have a swimbait tattoo! And let me guess, that customer trout one you were telling me about? I already have the shop picked out. Once I figure out how much the truck is going to cost me to get fixed (finally), I'll get this ball rolling! Can't wait!

Raystown lake 6-01-09
Nice work Mike! I was camping at Raystown over the weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't get a lot of fishing in. Didn't have a boat with me either. Sunday morning, I managed to get out for a few hours below the spillway. While I didn't have any takers, I did see a keeper size musky and (the highlight of the morning) a bald eagle! Very cool! Had I knew you were going up monday, I would have (cough, cough) figured out a way to stay there another day! LOL! Wish I was still there actually!

Can a St. Croix Mojo 7 1/2 be used for flipping?
I bought a Quantum Energy 7'6" earlier in the year and really like it. TW has it for $110.

What cars have you owned or leased?
1982 Ford EXP (owned 1 year and didn't make it through the whole year) 1976 Pontiac Firebird (loved this car! wish I still had it!) 1977 Chevy Nova (eh, it served its purpose) 1989 Chevy Beretta (ditto as the Nova) 1990 Toyota 4Runner (ended up with 300,00 miles before the computer went out on it) 2000 Dodge Dakota (still have it, wishing it didn't but with 255,000 miles, I can't complain too much) Next vehicle will be a Toyota Tacoma!

Tattoo design
Signifcance in the design itself? Not much really. Any one that really knows me, know how much I love fishing so I wanted one fishing related obviously. The design, as mjhutch mentioned, fits me. What most people don't know is that I use to do a good amount of outdoor activities: hunting fishing, softball, volleyball, etc. When I was married, the wife wanted me to cut out most of those activities. Well, fishing was the one that survived you could say. So while typing this, I guess you could say the arm band does have meaning to me. Its a symbol of part of my life that has stayed with me throughout everything I've been through and will continue to be a part of my life (and yes Brian, it will be a complete band) .

Tattoo design
Yeah bass wrangler, I know it'll be with me the rest of my life but I've thought about it for several years. I think I'm WELL old enough for one! LOL! Bassn Bvld, I tried that idea out too but I liked this one more. mrlitetackle, I have a few pennies to save up yet so it'll be a little while before I get it either way. ;D Matt, I have no clue what you're talkin about. ;D I never remember any cousin of mine saying that before! LOL! bassdocktor, you may be right about that. The last one I remember saying about a design like this is LBH and that was quite some time ago. Pitchinkid, go easy on mjhutch! He is my cousin. 3 days should be plenty!

Meadowgrounds T's
If I'm not mistaken, I believe the first one is June 27th. Well, if you're just going to be donating $$$$ this year, just get me a couple of swimbaits and we'll call it even! LOL!

Tattoo design
I've been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo (arm band) for a couple of years now but I hadn't found one that I really liked. Well, I was bouncing the idea around with a couple of my friend over the weekend and I think we came up with the one I like. Check this out....

Maryland's Who's who!
Hey Boett, I was just at Black Hills today at lunch (no luck). I was fishing the back wash area again and it was pretty stained. The main lake down by the ramp had a good color to it though. The water seems to be up about 6-12". If we don't get a ton of rain this week, I'd say you'll be fine. Can't help with Pine Run, it's been WAY too long since I've fished there!

biggest fish.
Mine is a 45' 25lb musky caught on the Potomac, on top water. Now that was fun! ;D

quantum reels - just recieved reel that i sent in for warranty
Well, this kind of highlights the way a lot of people view Quantum: Disposable Reels. : While I am a Quantum fan and have only had one issue with one of my reels, I'll throw this out there from a servicing side since I've been in the repair department for the company I work for (telecommunications field) for the last 12 years. We've had products, still under warranty, that come in for repair. From a cost effective point of view, its financially more effective to replace some units than simply repair the ones that come in. I will add this though, when a situation like that comes up here, the replacement unit is ALWAYS in as good of condition (if not better) when we send the unit back out to the customer. If I have a warranty repair with a Quantum reel I buy, I'll expect that same level of service.

Maryland's Who's who!
Mostly numbers down by the boat ramp Boett. I've managed a couple of 4 pounders but that's about the biggest bass I've caught in that area. A few years ago, I used to get into the musky in that area too (some BIG ones too) but only landed a few of them. The bass in my avatar and the two book ends in my signature came from the stick ups area. That's usually where I get my bigger bass out of Black Hills. Although I have seen a few monster bass holding by the tubes on the main lake side but haven't hooked into any of those, YET!

Maryland's Who's who!
Since Boett was nice enough to post a short report here, I will too. Popped over to Black Hills at lunch today. WOW! Talk about chocolate milk! I hit the backwash area down by the boat ramp and managed 2 today. A dink and a nice 3 pounder. Caught them both on a chart spinnerbait w/chart blades and burned it past the stumps and laydowns. Had a good little reaction bite going on until it was time to head back to work.

Maryland's Who's who!
Thanks for the heads up Boett! I fished the C&O canal at Williamsport on and off last week on vacation. I was there yesterday afternoon before the rain came in. I checked out the Potomac and it was MUDDY!!!! When I checked the river gauge last evening, the river was on its way back up. We'll have to wait to see how far up it comes. Actually, I hope it comes up pretty good! I have a spot or two I hit from shore that produce really well for me when it gets up super high! ;D Welcome to THE boards warwickforlife!

Quantum PT Rods
Which model PT rods are you looking at? I own 2 Energy PT's and really like both of them! The two I have are the 7' MHF (QEC706F) and the 7'6" HF (QEC767FT). The 7' I use for soft plastics (worms, lizards, creatures) and the 7'6" is for flippin and pitchin tubes and jigs. Check this out: http://www.quantumfishing.com/prod_pages/EnergyRods.htm That should help you out! If you have any questions, let me know.

Maryland's Who's who!
There's a couple spots I hit, besides in the park itself. One is off Wynnfield Dr. Looking at Black Hills, with Lake Churchill (a private lake) behind you, park on the left hand side of the road. There's a path that'll take you down around the lake. You can fish on the rip rap but BE CAREFUL! There's been a lot of snakes in the rocks there! Another spot is up by the bridge on 121. The other spot I hit on occassion is back off Old Baltimore Road (across 121). You go back Old Baltimore Rd a little ways and look for Ten Mile Creek Rd. Its a gravel road that only goes back a little ways. Its a little bit of a hike back there! Hope this helps!

Maryland's Who's who!
I haven't been to the Dickerson area of the C&O canal since before Brian and it was getting close to what Brian described then. The only other section of the C&O canal that I know of that has bass in it is right at Williamsport. Unfortunately, the conditions are about the same there as well. :-/
