  1. The bluegill and smokey shad are two of my favorites!
  2. Never had any knot issues with it either. I found it had WAY too much memory for me!
  3. Ditto Falcon. Congrats to those that did.
  4. I'm conducting a class on "Netting Your Partner's Fish" if you are interested. The cost is two 30's of Miller Lite or a big bottle of the Captain. Thanks for the offer but I'll pass on that! Just reading that "M" word beverage gives me one heck of a headache!
  5. Someone hasn't been keeping me updated on when they are! Let me know when the one in September is! Please!
  6. Not sure what your price range is but my suggestion is the Quantum Energy PT 7' MH (model QEC706F). I bought one back in the spring for t-rigging and I love it!
  7. Really Robby? It's a waste of time this time of year? I've faired ok at Sayers this time of year. It looks right now that I'll be making a trip there this coming weekend. Fishing with my cousin to help him become a little more familiar with the lake. There's a local club that has open team tournament and he wants to fish a couple of them. If you can hold off on your decision to fish there for a little while, I'll post a report sunday or monday.
  8. I was a fan of Vanish until the Transition crap started. I tried the Transition (either 14 or 17#) and lost 3, 3/8oz spinnerbaits on 3 consecutive casts. After the first one, checked the line for any nicks, retied, snap, checked the line again, retied, snap. The last 2 casts with that stuff, I did not load the rod, brought the rod back, stopped, slowly brought the rod forward and SNAP! The line never broke at the knot, it was always several inches above the knot. Took the rod home and checked the guides (initially thought I may have had a damaged guide which wasn't the case). I tried going back to Vanish and started having the same issues with it as I did the Transition. I just can't bring myself to even try the Trilene 100% after the Vanish issues (no confidence in Berkley lines anymore). The flurocarbon I use now is BPS XPS. I've had no issues with it was so ever.
  9. Cool pic. Like Eddie, I had a different thought too. I was thinking musky though.
  10. No worries wv! The batteries I'm using right now are Wal Mart's Ever Start. I've had good results with mine. Just keep them charged up after you use them and they'll last 5-6 years easily! Hope this helps! If you have any questions, let me know!
  11. Hey wv, The current at normal levels isn't that bad at Williamsport and Shepardstown but 17#'s sounds a little lighter than I would use. I have a 16' jon with a 43# on my boat and that gets me around fairly well under normal conditions. Since you only mentioned the trolling motor, I'm guessing that's all you have? No outboard. right? You could try putting in at Snyders Landing, the current isn't bad at all at the ramp and see how you do. Careful though going down around the bend! It gets shallow and swift and you may have to walk your boat up along the WV shore line to get back up around (if you're trolling motor only). Dargens Bend may be another option for you as well. There's a deeper water close to the ramp so you may do better there. Hope this helps!
  12. I have a pink and chart spinnerbait that's killer during the prespawn! I've caught more 5+ pounders on that bait during that time than any other bait!
  13. Popped into Middletown this evening for a while. Looks like the slop is starting to come back again. Wasn't terribly bad (yet) but you definitely had to pick your casting lanes. Only caught 2 on a lipless crank again. Talked to another angler there and from the way he was talking they treated the pond again for the algea so I'm surprised I caught those 2. Just figured I'd give you Frederick guys the heads up!
  14. I'm with MALTESE FALCON on this one. Double silver willowleaf blades with a translucent skirt. I'll either be throwing a 1/2oz and burning it or I'll drop down to an 1/8oz or 3/16oz size for slower conditions.
  15. X2! Smallies and largmouth both like them!
  16. Wow! I was expecting it to take a lot longer than that! The fish hook arm band I had done two weeks ago took 2 hours.
  17. Cool deal! By the way, if you don't have one, I have a map of Pinchot. Heading out now to try my luck at muskies on the Potomac. Hopefully, I'll be able to post a pic or two later!
  18. Haven't been there lately but would like to get back over there sometime! As long as I don't have my daughter on the weekend you go, I'm game! I'd be up for a Cowan's Gap outing too. No, I got it! MG! ;D I'll even throw this out there, let me know if you want to come down here too.
  19. Decent amount of smallies I'd say, I manage a bonus walleye once in a while too. I'd say my most productive bait would be a Smithwick Rattlin Rogue but the Bandit 100 series cranks aren't far behind. I'll add a 4" tube in the arsenal as well.
  20. Looks good! How many hours did it take?
  21. Yeah, Snyders is definitely trolling motor friendly. I have a 16' jon with a 43# trolling motor and like I mentioned before, was pretty much limited to there if I wanted to fish the river when I was without an outboard. As long as the levels aren't up above 5' on the Hancock USGS river gauge I've run Snyders with out any problems.
  22. 4evermarine0311 and wv, Welcome to THE boards! 4evermarine0311, If I remember correctly, there's a smalll community pond behind the library that's set up for kids fishing only! That may be a good spot to get your little ones into fishing (and its close to home for ya!). With the river levels right now, dam 4 isn't real productive for me (fishing below the dam that is). There's a small pond is Sharpsburg that has bass and bluegills but it gets pounded pretty hard and they can be rather spookish. Greenbrier has some good fish in it as well and that's not too far from you either. Over in Middletown, there's a community pond there as well. There's also a pond on the Antietam battlefield that holds smallies but I'm not exactly sure where its located yet (it is on the visitors center side of the battlefield but that's all I can tell ya right now). Hope this helps ya some!
  23. Yeah, sharpsburg pond is definitely on the small side! I've seen some good ones in there too. The best I've landed out of there is a 4 1/4 pounder. That place gets beat up pretty bad (mostly by trout fishermen) which is why I think the bass are pretty spooky. As for the battlefield pond. Its supposed to be back behind the visitor center side on one of the farms back there. There's either 2 or 3 farms back there but I think only one of them has a pond on it so it should be too hard to find googling it. I haven't had a chance to stop in to the visitors center yet to ask about. One of my friends has fly fished it before and has managed a few dinks. I don't think many people know about it so my guess is there's probably some good ones in there! Let me know how you do if you make it over there before I do!
  24. Wow! They can't fit you in sooner? That's crazy! When I got mine done (several years ago) it was literally a 10 minute deal! Part of that time was the guy trying to find the tag to get the information off of it.
  25. Personally, I like Plano's flip sider box design better. I think they are a little easier to organize and hold 2 more baits! http://www.***.com/descpage-P3714.html
