  1. Way to go LR and Avid! Keep that mojo flowing! Can't wait to see where it ends up next!!!!!
  2. Congrats to the winners and hats off to Kevin and Mrs. Lovins!!!!!!!!!
  3. Some of the maps are old. I know of one 500 acre lake that doesn't show up and I've known about this lake since '93 and I'm sure its way older than that.
  4. Hmmmm, can't say I've heard of that one. There are a lot of guides in Florida that use shiners. I've even seen anglers using crawfish, nightcrawlers, minnows, bluegill and helgramites and catch bass. For me, I enjoy the challenge of catching bass on artificials!
  5. I have to agree with Way2slow on this one. The AC air pump won't work on a DC source. I believe, Wal Mart sells a battery operated aerator that realitively cheap (around $20, I think its called Mr Bubbles) from what I remember. That would probably be the easiest way to go!
  6. Welcome to the boards EdgeofThorns! You've found THE BEST bass site on the net bar none!!!!! Like Glenn has provided, read the articles! There's tons of information there! Read up and that will give you a place to start! Then, if you have any questions, don't be shy! Ask away! There are a bunch of great anglers here that are willing to help out however they can!
  7. Hey Will, I fished a tournament two weekends ago and the livewell we used was a cooler that we filled up first thing in the morning. We caught our bass kinda early and weighed in our catch alive and healthy! We ran the aerator on and off throughout the day, used Rejunenade and added ice as well. You should be fine doing the same! Good luck! What aerator are you using? If I can see which one you're using, I may be able to offer you some advise on how to hook it up! We'll see if I can put my tech school knowledge to use again! LOL!
  8. Welcome to the boards! Glad to have you here! Make yourself at home!
  9. This is a tough one for me. Right now, I'm undecided. Here's why...... Two years ago, while fishing with my partner, he landed a state record musky. Now here's where it gets complicated. The current state record tiger musky is held by an angler that was from Williamsport, MD. The closest certification site to us was, well, you guessed it, in Williamsport. Now my partner caught a pure strain which you could clearly tell from the markings. He took it in and had to wait for DNR to show up for the certification. While he was waiting, a HUGE crowd gathered in this small tackle shop and the rumors started flying from there! They were saying everything from it was a tiger (which for some reason, the current tiger record is larger than the pure strain) to he gaffed it (which would disqualify it from being a state record) as well as he and I work for DNR. Rumors continued and my partner and his wife were harrassed (including phone calls) and we even heard that a petition was started to try and have it overturned. This all still baffles me to this day since "thier" precious tiger record was still intact! Musky fishing in MD is not anyway near as popular as bass (I think catfishing is even more popular according to a DNR pole I saw) so I can hardly even begin to imagine what might go on I were to land the next state record bass here, go through all the proper qualifications by the state and so on and so on. I just don't know if the money (if any) would compensate for the possible harrassment. :-/
  10. Welcome to the boards SnakeMover! If there were bass under the shad, two baits come to mind. One would be a shad colored 4" Senko (wacky rigged) and the other would be a white or smoke colored 3-4" tube (rigged weightless). I'd throw either bait right into the middle of the shad and just let it sink down through them. If there's bass under them, they maybe waiting for something to trigger a feed and seeing an injured shad float down through them. If the water really start erupt then go to more active baits like the popper or RatLTrap. Hope this helps!
  11. Hey BigGameHunter, First, welcome to the boards! Check out the top of the page under tacklebox. You'll find a free fishing log there! I've modified mine slightly to suit my needs and I also made mine in an Excel spreadsheet.
  12. "Can I be on his show? " I'd love to be able to fish one of his ponds!!! ;D
  13. I can add another catfish hitting a spinnerbait to the list. Was out musky fishing this evening and was throwing a 1oz spinnerbait and had about a 20" channel cat hit about 10' from me. I almost launched it into my chest on the hook set! LOL! I had just lost a small musky shortly before and I wanted to land what ever hit next! ;D
  14. Welcome to THE BEST bass fishing boards on the net! One tip with the techniques, read through the articles and pick one or two that you'd like to learn. Don't get bogged down with too many techniques, you'll just fry your brain! Any questions you have, ask away! There are a ton of great anglers here that are willing to help out however they can!
  15. With a tough bite last evening, I was able to get this one to break in my hat!
  16. I'm with Will on this one. Use a tube with a bullet weight (pegged, tungsten would be the best bet since they're smaller) just heavy enough to get you through the grass. Shake it in place and be ready! Natural colors work best for me and I usually add a small red bead for a little extra sound. Good luck!
  17. Glad to hear you're ok FlyRod! I've come close in the past with my hands (prepping the boat before hitting the water) and that wasn't a comforting feeling! Hope the day got better!

  19. Got my hat and sweatshirt last week! Both are awesome! Can't wait to break them in!
  20. Keeping with the theme, LOL, c-rigging!

  22. Most times you can't hear them talk, other times you can.... Bob Seger: Turn the page. Ever since you left me I sure feel all alone A little misunderstanding I can't get her on the telephone.....
  23. In the tournament I fished last sunday, we had about an hour all day that it didn't rain (and I'm very glad I had my rain gear on!). The bite was slow and the majority of the bass that we caught were on a finesse bite! I've fished other times before, during and after the rain and have had mixed results. Water clarity does help dictate where and how active the bass are. Take your time and figure out what mood the bass are in and don't rule anything (lure and presentation wise) out until the bass tell you otherwise!
  24. I like it LBH! Send it my way and we'll put some MD magic in it with a Potomac smallie or I'll take it to the farm pond and get "ole cut tail" to give up some of her mojo!
  25. Spots like that can be a little overwhelming! Look for spots that offer the best ambush spots. Start with the logs that are out next to deeper water and cast past your target and bring the bait past. Don't forget to try from different angles (are they holding on the sun side or the shady side?) and vary your retrieve until the bass tell you what they want on that day. If there is vegatation, the logs with the more dense grass or a variety of grass (ex. hydrilla and lily pads) will be more productive as well. Sometimes it takes multiple casts to the same spot in order to frustrate them enough into hitting. Hope this helps!
