  1. I love fly casting. My arsenal of rods on my boat consists of 3 baitcast, 3 spinning, and 1 fly cast. If you are considering fly casting, do yourself a huge favor and order the instructional DVD "Basic Fly Casting" by Doug Swisher from Scientific Anglers at the Bass Pro Shops online catalog. This DVD made learning fly casting a non painful and fun experience for me. I highly recommend it.
  2. I cast with my right, and all my reels (baitcast, spinning, fly cast) have right hand retrieve. Just my preference.
  3. Lowe's sells a camoflage cap with built in leds (2 of them ) in the bill. I have one and they work great. There is an on/off button built in to the bill too.
  4. I'll just be happy if I can get out to fish once a month!
  5. Ray-O-Vac. Has only red led, white led, and white bulb. Three way switch. You do have to turn it all 3 clicks from red to bulb , or back . Costs @ $25.
  6. I use 7 rods, 3 baitcast, 3 spinning, 1 fly cast. 2 tackleboxes, 1 with lures and flies, 1 with tackle hardware, and a soft plastics binder.
  7. When I want baits to have buoyancy, I inject them with air using a syringe.
  8. I found another great use for squid. Remove just the head of the squid with the tentacles and use it for a jig trailer. AWESOME action, plus scent! If you have an Asian supermarket in your area they always have frozen squid.
  9. Me too. I fish with a baited hook while casting for bass and stripers. I never use liver anymore. For flatheads I use live bluegill, the larger the better. For channels I now use frozen squid. Caught my pb in February on squid.
  10. I use Sta-Bil Marine with excellent results. Used Sea Foam once. It costs more to treat a tank of gasoline than the gasoline itself! It's nice to know there people with that kind of money out there, although I personally don't know any.
  11. I like a foam beetle or grasshopper with #8 hook on my 7 weight fly rod.
  12. I would call that an ambitious bass in the second photo!
  13. Wow, I 've never had that problem nor has anyone I know, and I've been using spinning gear for nearly 50 years!
  14. Yeah, that's right up there!
  15. Spirit - The Family that Plays Together
  16. Very informative! Thanks Glenn.
  17. On my own boat I take 7 or 8 rods. On my buddy's boat I take 5. Plus 2 tackle boxes and soft plastics binder.
  18. Ive been a pro or semi pro musician since 1976, electric and upright bass. So it's chasing bass or playing bass. Hence, bass or bass?
  19. As Casca said, the water is super clear, 40 to 60 feet visibility is common.
  20. I run on the freeway at 10 mph below the speed limit, 55 mph. This is Arizona, where everyone drives 15 or more over the limit. I never have tailgaters. They've all pulled over to pass me a long way back because I look like a stationary object to them as they roar up to and past me at 25 mph or more faster than my speed.
  21. I caught a 25 pound flathead while bass fishing too. Awesome on medium action baitcast gear huh? I have yet to catch one larger on my dedicated flathead rig with a Penn Peer 209 reel and heavy Rhino Kevlar rod.
  22. Wow, shows how long it's been since I lived in Florida. There was no season then and no license requirement.
