what lures to use for striped bass? (clueless)
Use shad looking lures. Natural silver scale finish, or white bucktail jigs, silver spoons, Storm Wild Eye Swim Shad in shad color, silver Zera Spooks.

treble hook colors
I put them on both ends, Owner Stingers.

Catfish!!!!
My fishing trips are usually @ 30 hours overnight on the boat, time spent between bass/striper/channel/flathead fishing. I caught a 25 pound flathead while bass fishing with a medium action baitcast rig. Took @ 20 minutes to boat it. Loads of fun!

Storm Wild Eye Swim Shad
I also like the Storm lures that are bluegill shape and color.

Dahlberg Diver Frog
I'd like to try one of those too. Their crawfish lure looks cool too.

Storm Wild Eye Swim Shad
I like 'em. Techniques already described. I use them in shad and baby bass colors.

Music to my ears. Ford developing a new GT
I saw one last year at the insurance/bondsman shop up the street from me. Had the engine compartment open. WOW! Always loved the original GT40's in the 60's. I'd love one of the new ones. There is a long waiting list apparently.

Does the brand of oil matter
The XLT is what I run in my old 1967 Evinrude 80. Seems to me that it makes less smoke too.

Not what I was after but....
I love catching flatheads. I fish for them at night on every fishing trip.

How do you store your rods and reels?
I have a rack system that stores all my rigs ( bait cast, fly cast, spinning) horizontally just below the ceiling in my shop. I also keep the reels wrapped in plastic newspaper bags to keep dust out of them.

Left and right handedness
I'm right handed and I'm a musician (bassist, electric and upright). I play bass right handed. When fishing I cast right handed, then switch the rod to my left hand to reel with my right. I do this with ALL my rigs. I even converted my spinning and fly casting rigs to right hand retrieve, so I'm kinda righty/lefty when fishing. I deal cards left handed and shoot billiards left handed. I can shoot firearms with either hand.
-
Do you switch hands when you cast a baitcaster?
Yep, I switch with every cast. Not only that, but I converted my spinning and fly casting rigs over to right hand retrieve for consistancy. Now reeling with my left hand seems really awkward.

What will i catch on this?
Should work for either. Nice looking lure. Where do you live? I grew up just north of Pittsburgh. I also lived in Crafton / Ingram for a few years and my son lives in McKees Rocks.

Can I buy an out of state used boat and bring it to California?
Read the link I posted above. : Thanks for that link. I had been told that I would not be allowed to run my 1967 Evinrude 80 in California should I decide to take it fishing there. Glad to know better now.

green or blue mirrored glass vs regular copper lens?
I have copper color lenses in my Cocoons. I also have prescription lenses in gray. Both are polarized. The copper color definitely cuts water glare better. From the analysis of lenses I've read, copper is the best color lens for cutting water glare with amber second. Gray offers the most natural color perception however. I usually fish from pre- dawn into the night , so I'm exposed to all light conditions of the day.

Can I buy an out of state used boat and bring it to California?
I believe there are severe restrictions, if not outright bans, on 2 cycle outboard motors in California, but I'm not certain about that. Contact your game and fish department about that issue.

Does anyone actually LIKE, or dare I say LOVE winter fishing???
I enjoy it because I can actually fish during the day time. It can be quite cold in the mornings and evenings though. In summer it's just too hot to fish until night time. Of course things are a little different here in Phoenix than the rest of the country weather wise. Spring and fall are my favorite times of the year to fish here.

Music on board?
As I stated before, I enjoy music at times while fishing, at others I prefer the quiet and solitude Of natural sounds. Unless your boat is right next to mine, you'd not be able to hear the music, I certainly don't blast it. Besides, what I listen to while fishing isn't "blasting" music, it's usually either jazz, or new age music that blends in with nature. A couple years ago I fished for several hours @ 80' away from a nesting pair of Great Blue Herons. The sounds of the wind, the water rippling, and the herons squaking to each other, and the sound of their great wings flapping as they flew overhead was the best music I could ask for!

Do you fish right after ice out?
Don't have ice here! Just fish when I want!
