  1. Nice fish right there!
  2. It won't help. In my experience, if you can get her close enough to net, you should be able to lip her. The easy way out, is to go for a net, but when you think about it, you have to control the fish the same. I don't even have one in my boat anymore. If I was fishing for money, that might change, though.
  3. My PB largemouth was caught Nov 16th, 2009, on a topwater bait. I love that late fall fishing.
  4. Here's a 7 and change from yesterday. It was kinda funny, because I was teaching my buddy how to work a bait, and this happened...
  5. Yeah, those Jitterbugs will catch some bass at night, for sure. Nice one right there.
  6. Well, there were boats in there today, so guess it's not closed for good yet.
  7. It's not because of the flooding. Last time I was There, I was talking to a guy that told me they are draining the whole place. No more Stumpfield at all, except a little river. Too bad, too, I like that place.
  8. Hey, thanks. It was fun, and will definitely do it again if you all do it next year, and maybe I won't forget about it for most of the thing. On a side note... I'm heading out in a little bit with the full moon, and expect the topwater bite to be ON FIRE!!! Good times!
  9. Yup, I do it every time. My partner for the day can't be here until 8:00 today, but I still woke up at 4:00. Good luck to you guys out there today.
  10. Oh, yeah, they're eating! Haven't been on any hawgs in a few days, though, but the action is good. Tomorrow is hawg day, I can feel it.
  11. That worm is probably my favorite, and gets used a ton. I use them Tx rigged (light or heavy, depending on the fall I need), Carolina rigged, cut down and on a drop shot, cut in half and used on a swim jig, weightless, keel-weighted, and especially on a shakey head. I save the big 10" version for muddy water, or when I fish at night or before daylight.
  12. A 4/0 is on the money, or a 5/0 in the screw lock style hooks.
  13. I love fishing with my wife, but it doesn't happen much. On the rare occasion that we have someone to take our son, we will hit the water, and have a blast. She has a good time, I have a good time, and she then appreciates all the money I spend on tackle, gear, and boat maintenance. We even "christened the bass boat"... twice!
  14. nhbassin', that is one thug of a hawg, kid. Nice job!!
  15. Here's one to round out my limit at least before this thing ends. L=14" G=11.25" Weight= 2.16 lbs Caught on weightless Rage Tail Eeliminator, Watermelon Red, tail dipped in chart JJ's
  16. Oh, yeah! I pitch mostly, and not much flippin, but when I'm doing that, a Hawg, Lobster, or a jig with a Craw on it usually gets the call. Had some great success with that this year.
  17. Well, my system, is a hat brim clip on black light for tying knots and stuff, and a head lamp with red and bright white lights for seeing stuff like shoreline cover and obstructions, and for doing stuff in the boat. seems to work pretty good, and definitely doesn't cost much. Of course, your boat isn't blinged out, but you can fish at night.
  18. I don't think Zoom has quality control.
  19. I'm with ya, Fat G.
  20. You might be surprised at the results of that Rage Toad. Bass anywhere from a pound up will hit that thing. Sounds like a good place to toss it, too. Just make sure you use a 5/0 EWG hook to rig it.
  21. I'll be back on the water tonight to round out my limit, and cull all the little guys hopefully. I'll post up the results tomorrow, because it's gonna be a long night. Get on 'em, everyone! Hey, when does this wrap up, anyway?
  22. Swim jigs and topwater stuff (Rage Shads and Toads). I do love the fall fishing, but hate to admit the summer is coming to a close. It's been a great year so far, and I expect big things this fall!
  23. This Morning I figured I'd throw a few on the board. I caught a bunch in the 2lb range, and figured I could cull some of them, but only landed one bigger one, and lost one more monster (probably a 6 or better), all on the Rage Shad this morning (black neon in the dark, and gr pump/chart once it got brighter. Here's my 4 for now. All calculated on the BR fish weight calculator (which is light on bigger fish, because my biggest one today was actually a 5-9). When does this thing end? Anyway, ended with 18 fish today, and 9 of those were on the Shad. Have fun out there, guys! L=14.75" G=11.5" Weight=2.45 lbs L=14" G=10.5" Weight=2.02 lbs L=18" G=15.25" Weight=4.84 lbs (fatty!) L=14" G=10" Weight=1.92 lbs (skinny)
  24. When you keel weight an Eel, you kill the side to side motion of the body part of the bait, so just the tail is doing it's thing. Sometimes that is enough, and if it works for ya, don't stop, but there are better baits for a keel rig, and better uses for your Eels.
