True Grit. (No spoilers!)
My wife saw it yesterday and she felt Jeff bridges was fantastic Couldn't make up her mind as who was better Jeff Bridges or Christian Bale in the "Fighter ", for best actor.

They call it "sagging"
It is a pretty pathetic look. Gets it's origin from prison inmates where belts are forbidden ( for fear of hanging themselves) and pants falling to the knees.

Keeping records.
Old timers unite. Gotta say in the early days of biz long before computers, Franklin planners, fax machine and cell phones, I jotted appointments on restaurant napkins. Had scores of accounts and never missed or was late in servicing them. My records were kept in a looseleaf binder, which I much preferred before using computers, looseleaf binders don't crash.

Keeping records.
When in business I kept meticulous records, not only of my transactions but in detail regarding the exact conversation. Not too often did I have to look back in time, most of the really important information stayed in my mind. In fishing I keep no records at all, either for fresh or saltwater, again most of what I need to know is in my mind. The majority of my fishing is done with just a few different baits, always saltwater in the morning and freshwater in the afternoon, makes recall much easier. A large or personal best fish is always easy to remember, the others don't matter to me.

How do you choose a rod length??
My freshwater rods are 6'6, I get more than enough distance and handle whatever I encounter. For saltwater I mainly use 7'6 & 8' but when it's super windy I drop down to 7', easier to handle in the wind and I don't see all that much difference in casting distance.

scrounger fish pb
Hit the ICW at around 6:15 Sunday morning, wasn't too bad at all then, windy but I fished the west side so I had the wind at my back.

PO'ed at my soon to be EX Opthamologist
I was not complaining, only mentioning my dissatisfaction with the entire process that took place with this doctor. It isn't worth the time and effort to do anything but pay the bill and move on, I vented and I'm over it. I'm sure there are many horror stories out there regarding medical procedures and treatments that have gone awry for some reason, we have had them in this household. This thread is about my disagreement in how a doctor runs their office, not medical complications, whether it being the doctors fault or one's body just not responding as intended.

Old school.
They still do. What's better than a Penn International? Southbend is still around, they now own my rod of choice, Hurricane Redbone.

Total Rip-Off
LOL. Whatever helps you sleep at night, my analysis is pretty accurate. Your trying to inconvenience someone over a $6.00 purchase in hopes of maybe saving a few bucks on shipping. Your "friend" has to drive to the bike shop, lay the money out for you, then pack it and label the package, take it to the post office or make arrangements to have it picked up, then wait to get reimbursed. I hope when you get into the real world you will look back and see how foolish this is.

PO'ed at my soon to be EX Opthamologist
As I'm out only $30 from my own pocket, it doesn't warrant taking any legal action. or filing a complaint. The only thing that I may do is hand deliver the check and give the billing department a piece of my mind, I'd probably be unable to see the DR. and give her a piece of it too. The dr is probably not aware of the billing, but should have made new lenses as her cost is quite nominal.

PO'ed at my soon to be EX Opthamologist
My guess is the doctor is totally unaware as the billing department tends to these matters. My wife likes the doctor and even more doesn't like rocking the boat so I'm just standing pat, as for me I'll be making a change. I don't think contacting the insurance company is worth the effort in this case. As far as malpractice goes, my son in law is a malpractice attorney in Indiana, tells me most doctors in town know him and his personal treatment is stellar, I guess it's easy to figure out why.

Two Piece Rods vs. One Piece Rods
I don't care for 2 piece, have had them come apart and I don't need for that to happen again. My freshwater rods easily fit in my car and I don't see saltwater rods in 2 piece except for surf rods. My 8' fits in my trunk thru the pass thru, looks like I could get a 10 footer in there.

PO'ed at my soon to be EX Opthamologist
Go to the opthamologist several months ago for a heath exam and eye test for a new prescription. After getting the new script I tell my wife that I didn't think the Dr's subordinate did it properly but I go ahead get 2 pair of glasses made. I gave the new glasses a trial period of about a month and I never could get used to them. Made a new eye appointment to see if script was filled properly or the script just wasn't right in the first place, the script was wrong at I was issued a new one. This doctor has an adjoining optometry shop which she owns, would not make new lenses for me even though it was her mistake, expected me or the company that made the glasses for me eat the cost, that in itself ticked me off, but my optometrist gladly re made them at no cost to me. Now this really adds insult to injury, the first appointment was covered by insurance, upon leaving the second appointment the office staff said no charge to me, I thought I was done. I just get a bill in the mail for the second appointment, billing my insurance company also billing me for the copay, only $30. but it's the principal, after all it was their mistake to begin with. I had a good mind to send a letter of complaint however I'm just paying and forgetting it as my wife sees this Dr for her glaucoma and this Dr is a specialist in that area.

Total Rip-Off
Fishing Rhino is 100% right. If you want it........buy it, that is their company policy, not talking major money here. For a college boy studying economics you don't Jack Sh^^t about business.

Do you use line conditioner?
Braid, no Mono, copoly soak in hot water works good. Sprayed some kvd on a spool of copoly, the lined definitely softened up, have yet to use that spool so don't know if it's really better than hot water.

Spinning reel poll
The handle design on the c 14 was an immediate turn off for me. Staying in the spirit of the thread I'd pick the Abu and that is based on my experience with their customer service. In reality I wouldn't buy any of them.

Pawn Stars on History Channel...
I don't think Pawn Stars rip people off, people come and expect top dollar for an item, in reality they are selling wholesale not retail. For example, an individual may want to sell a piece of jewelry valued at $5000, the wholesale cost probably is more like $1000-$1500 if that. Why would a pawn shop buy that item at retail when he can buy it from a manufacturer for a lot less. In addition gold, silver, diamonds, etc. are on a fluctuating market, 1 year it can be high, the next year they can be very cheap, like any other commodity. There is a cost to the cash they pay out, under normal conditions most use a line of credit, some are probably are using cash out of their own pockets now as cash borrowing is tight. Items don't immediately sell, sometimes it takes months and months and sometimes the items just never sell, all this is figured into what their purchase price will be. The pawn shop is the last stop, if the items were so hot people could easily just sell them off ebay or put an ad in the paper, pawn guys know that.

Interesting!
Electric reels may tad big for bankfishing, how about a battery operated one, it's Daiwa too, only $600.

Interesting!
I like the pink, it represents breast cancer awareness........

The Steez Reels ARE worth EVERY penny.
From some of the fish stories I have read , the snoopy combo may be more fun and challenging, especially since most of the fish don't seem to be over 3#. If it were me I'd buy more affordable gear and invest the rest of the money in fishing lessons.

Did anybody catch anything decent this weekend???
Not too much in the way of bass, but have fared well with other species. Despite the cooler water I've caught some nice cuda over the last few days on my home made cuda tubes, lot's of fun for me.
