NFC West
Not all divisions are equal in talent, hypothetically a team with a 12- 4 record may not be better than a team with a 9-7 from another division. Having only teams with the best records in the playoffs may not improve the quality of the games. I think the system is fine with the way it is, wildcard births are strictly for revenue, but the games are entertaining.

Public school in Mass. issues permission slips for Pledge of Allegiance.
As a young child saying the Pledge every morning gave me a great sense of pride, but I think times were different then. With the allied victory of WW2 I think all of us felt honored to be American and we felt good about who we were. I can see the similarity to German pride, imo they were totally brainwashed by years of German propaganda preceding WW2 and the holocaust. That brings me to Fox news, over the last year or so I've devoted much more time tuning them in. The spin they put on stories is mind boggling and biased towards a certain agenda, FAIR AND BALANCED......haha pullleezeeee. Not that other media outlets are free of guilt but I don't think to the same extent. I'll continue to listen to them as I need the spin on both sides of any issue. There is 3 sides to any story, your side, his side and the truth.

I hate No-Va-Cane
The last procedure of my so far 1 year of periodontal procedures was a sinus lift in preparation for my ensuing implant. Deep scraping, 3 bone graphs, extraction and mandible reconstruction all done while under the influence of triazolam, slept like a baby thru all of it and never suffered significant pain. The only discomfort was in the healing process which really hasn't been bad at all. Thanks Nick for your expertise.

A must read for Team Pampers!
You never know what those chinese restaurents serve, we were selling them kingfish in Lantana. You've been on the pier or jettie and seen all those restaurant owners catching blue runners, they say it tastes like dolphin.

That's interesting, you learn something new everyday, I wasn't aware that Pennsylvania was exempt from any child labor laws and didn't recognize federal minimum wage in 1981. You apparently never worked for family. I started at my family's restaurant at 11. Your assumption is incorrect. Working for your family is totally different than working for an established business. I doubt very highly that working for one's family that a child gets a paycheck, probably a nominal amount of cash. In my case I cleaned fish and shrimp in fathers market when I was 7 or 8, by 11 or 12 I was self employed with a paper route. As this was a part time job ( couple of hours a day ) it did not interfere with school.

Lunar eclipse
1:50 and I walked outside to check it out, it's happening. Wonder how the fishing will be at 4 this morning when I head out to the ocean.

I hate No-Va-Cane
A routine cavity only requires a shot of novocaine, nitrous does not deaden pain but you don't care about the shot, it's no big deal. The oral surgery I had was done with an IV,. no pain. Worst I ever had was gum surgery, shots of novocaine, then back again the following week for 6 more on the other side. Now it's done differently, have had 5 periodontal surgeries over the last year or so and the method now is to take triazolam an hour before and you sleep thru entire process and never feel a thing, except the money that's being drained out of you wallet. One of the leading causes of heart attack and stroke is gum disease. Bass clary, time to manup

Pawn Stars on History Channel...
Tin is absolutely correct about wearing gloves for many of the items that come across their counters. IMO many of the items coming into their shop are staged events, the normal pawn items like jewelry, watches, guns, golf clubs etc don't have audience appeal for television. I have a few acquaintances back in Detroit in the pawn business, some do exceptionally well, most are 2nd or 3rd generation. In Florida I see pawn shops almost on every corner so to speak, Florida is unique compared to some areas as many " wealthy" people move here and no longer are " wealthy ", lots of expensive cars, furs and jewelry being pawned. Hot item is gold, it's a cash business, me being in the scrap business I bought gold for 35 years.

Ever know anybody like this ???
I'm in complete agreement with Fish Chris, with the exception of scales and cameras, just not important to me. I also use the lightest line and tackle I can get away with. I'm there for good hard battle with a fish, last thing I'll do is horse a 2# fish on b/c gear with 65# braid on a heavy rated rod with the drag cranked all the way down, not my kind of fishing. If I'm fishing heavy slop and lose the fish, it's no big deal, I'm tossing it back anyway. Whether I'm fishing fresh or salt ( bulk of my fishing is salt ) the very few times I've had fish go belly up on me, they seem to get revived just fine and swim away. That doesn't mean a predator doesn't get them, but so many times predators attack the fish on the line before you even get it in. Blood sport, you bet, it's only a fish.

More Dead Peacocks!!
That video was shot in a controlled environment, an aquarium. I'm not saying the bass would fare any better but in the wild there is more and water in which to try and escape. I'm not too keen on these snakeheads.

Who's hungry?
My business partner owned an Italian restaurant and it's true about steak quality, hotels & restaurants buy from packing companies, completely different grade you can't buy in a store. If any Detroiter's read this and have been to Lelliies, Mario's ( downtown ) Como,s, Larco's & Coangelos ( my partner's) all offspring of the same family with identical food. They marinate them in " Zip Sauce " MMMMM.

BPS Filing For Bankruptcy?
My wife and I were at the mall the other day and it was dead, I'm talking Boca Raton Town Center, upscale stores with upscale clientele. The only packed store was the Apple store where I saw lots of boxes being carried out, my wife tells me this store is always crowded and their stock history reflects it, I bought at @20, too bad I sold at $90. I'm seeing lots of boxes walk out of Best Buy too.

Is it just me...
Looks as though your dad has different priorities than you. I'd be willing to bet his life experiences have taught him that there are far more important things than the latest and best fishing gear. You on the other hand probably watch too much tv where pros are you using the best and pay way too much attention to what you read. I think your father is giving you a lesson on life that goes way past the boundaries of fishing. Pay more attention, you might learn something.

What kind of tennis shoes do you wear?
Have a bad arch in one foot, I find it difficult to find a premium sneaker that is comfortable. I mostly wear deck shoes, sneaker style, the 2 that are most comfortable for me are Sebago fathoms's and Teva helm2, which are now discontinued > I have several styles of Crocs and they are very comfortable.

BPS Filing For Bankruptcy?
Outward appearance based on a retail customer's observation does not tell the story. Stores can be crowded but that doesn't mean they are making profit or people spending as much money as they once did. An average retail customer is not privy to expenses, debt service and day to day overhead. There is no retailer that can't fail, so bankruptcy is always possible, but until reports come out from expert analysts and insiders this is a mere rumor and I would pay no attention to it. If they close some outfit will always come along and take their place.

Rambling gunman dead after opening fire at Florida school meeting
How many more unstable people are out there bearing arms? Several months ago a man shoots his mother's doctor at John Hopkins Hospital as he was unhappy with his mother's medical care. He then murders his mother , then shoots himself to death. 2008 a Texas man unhappy with wife's surgery shoots and kills wife's doctor. I'd like to see better gun control not more guns, even the most rational people are capable of being highly irrational give the right stimulus.

A must read for Team Pampers!
Bassn, you had it too easy....lol! For the members of the OFC, no tv until 1948, then it was 9" or a big 12" B & W,only 3 channels. Very true about the teachers, they were allowed to kick arse, parents always took the side of the teacher ( knew it was always the kids fault ) and never sued the school board. Phones hahah, we had party lines. Stamps .03 and post cards a penny. My father told me I had it too easy. He quit school in the 8 th grade during the depression to help support the family, there was no unemployment compensation, or food stamps. He walked the railroad tracks picking up coal that bounced off the coal car so they could heat the house. Worked 3 jobs and took the bus from job to job, his nick name was 1 shirt Harry cause he only owned 1 shirt and washed it everyday. As bad as the economy is today, it didn't come close to the depression, 25% unemployment then followed by WW2 when everything was rationed. Under 40 crowd....weenies !

Medicare does not start until age 65, enrollment begins on the 1 st day of the month that you turn. Anyone born Dec 31, 1945 automatically qualifies to be an OLD FART. I'm off to see the doctor and make an appointment for a colonoscopy.... no sheet !
