  1. Only the fish are mine, the buckets belong to another. The walgreen bag had sardines in it, they will take it home and freeze it for later use. I only carry 1 pliers, 2 rods one with a surgical tube and the other with a bomber lure that has been on it for 2 days. The latter has caught 6 snook and 2 cudas with out a change and it's still on there for tomorrow. Most pier casters only carry 1 rod with a lure on it, I'm the exception with 2 rods. Bait fisherman carry all kinds of crap, they generally catch the bigger fish.
  2. No time, just grab the rod or 2 of the day and drive 20 minutes to the ocean, gear is in the car.
  3. I fished much less during high school and college, my focus was golf. Toned the golf way back at around 26 and really got back into at 40, in the 80's the course was the "hot spot" for business.
  4. Bite is still on for me 3 snook( 31") 1 cuda and some moonfish
  5. Come on down.............if you can catch bass you can catch snook, well sometimes......... ;D
  6. I prefer 1 rod at a time even from the bank. I want that rod in my hand at all times. I have seen (happen to me too) being to far from 1 of the rods that get a strike and I'm not there to react.
  7. Not according to their web site which I would assume has been looked over before posting by their attorneys. The way I read it was they pay the sales tax, you don't. http://www.boatersworld.com/help/shopping/Shopping.htm?bct=sWhy+Shop+Here+BW#anchor3 Would a law abiding person knowing that a company has done a legal wrong, even after the fact, still want to be part of their illegal misdealing? I'm not sure if aid and abetting would apply (one is just as guilty as the principal, before or after the fact)? I know one is an online purchase and the other an instore purchase, but both under the umbrella of the main company. If I felt that strong I would have returned the merchandise or at least donated it to a church or worthy organization to clear my conscience of any act of wrongdoing that I unknowingly was part of. In my eyes this would turn a negative act into a positive one.
  8. I reshafted some of my persimmon with graphite, I loved them, but by todays standards they were weak. 22 deg 5 wood and 17 degree 3, driver was about 11. I never hit a long ball(Ben Hogan never hit over 250 yds either), I'm built like Corey Pavin and played that type of game, cept not nearly as good.
  9. I really don't know about a figure 8 motion. What we do from a pier is to use a surgical tube that is suppose to resemble an eel. This is not rocket science, just cast and retrieve at a very quick speed. Generally it's all about timing the tide, they seem to come around mostly within minutes of the tide changing from in to out. They may eye the tube and not hit or just chase it then swim away, actual hits don't happen everyday and they miss the hooks a lot. This is a very difficult fish to catch, then the fight is awesome. I caught one on light tackle this morning using a jerk bait, one of the premier battles I've had in a long time, it only went about 10#. I been on a great roll, getting one almost everyday lately.
  10. I met this nice young man from North Carolina the other day at the inlet trying to catching snook to no avail. I had pulled in a few in front of him and I felt bad about it. He was back again and I wanted him to catch one so I told him to follow me and I would guarantee( I'm not one to protect secret spots). We took a five minute walk and started to fish, I pulled in 2 right way and he was still strikeless, then at last he caught one then another and they went about 7-8 lbs. I get more excited over other people catching fish.
  11. Yep..........sure is.
  12. We have lots of grass carp down here (white amur) and from what I understand they aren't carp but the world's largest minnow,, weighing up to 100# in china, but around 30 in the states. They catch them on bread here,I would use a bonding agent molasses or honey. I have caught 2 on xraps, very rare feat.
  13. My Golf story is quite similar. Started playing at age 9 and it became my passion and by the time I hit my mid teens I was a very low handicap (1) golfer playing competitively. For some unfathomable reason I gave up the game for about 15 years. Now I'm 40 and my dad wants to play on father's day.....I'm hooked. Played solid for the next 22 years never getting better than a 7 handicap index, I lost it, even with advance ball technology and club design........I'm a traditionalist, bring back the old game. I discovered snook fishing 3 years ago and haven't played golf since. I did go to the range teaching my son in law and I still hit the ball like a laser right out of the box, but no way could I bring that to the course. Kinda looks like I will never play again.
  14. Out of about 50+ hours a week of fishing I spend about 15 of them bass fishing, so I do not consider myself a bass man. #2 is my regular style of fishing. To me the weight is irrelevant( I don't weigh them anyway ), I want the best fight from whatever species I'm fishing for on the lightest tackle possible.
  15. That's fishin! Happens every year about this time when the rains come, I fish for what is hot now and we have a very strong bite. Average fish is about 6#, many much bigger.
  16. Do a search, there is a correct way using a scale. I just go by feel
  17. Whatever I do I jump in with both feet. I've been a golfer for 55 years and a fisherman for 60. I put in 5 hours of salt and about 2 of sweetwater every day thruout the year. Have cut back on the golf and I live on a course.
  18. Choice is not cut & dried. Supreme $30 less and lighter, but I'm not sure of the durability over time. I own a supreme 8030 & 8035, both very smooth and drag is more than sufficient. I use the 8030 for bass and I moved the 8035 for saltwater inshore use(just rinse it off and the mag frame is no problem). The 8035 has more line capacity than the saros and it's lighter and I've handled sizeable fish on it, larger than LMB. I do not own a saros, but I do own a stradic fi4000 which is a very fine reel and a stronger drag. I don't spend anyone else's money, but if I could not afford a stradic, I's buy the supreme or wait and save up for the stradic.
  19. Could be Ie 8, my pics are just fine. I didn't like ie8, went back to ie7, which wasn't easy. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700/#ALTWin6 I'm using google chrome now instead of ie and it's faster.
  20. Surf is not producing much so far this year, another couple of degrees of warmer water and there will be snook on the beach. There are times when every cast produces off the surf, best is last hour of the incoming tide. Once I caught my first jack around 5# I pretty much gave up bass fishing. If my mind serves me marina is on federal backing up to the icw, I have heard of people catching fish there. Snoo have been real slow this year I have only caught maybe 40 or so, biggest only about 18#, but it's starting to get better
  21. I live on Polo Trace golf coursemin Palm Beach County and the bass fishing ins't as good as that course. What course are you fishing at?
  22. I switched from flukes to using saltwater D.O.A.'s or mirrorlures paddletails with a 1/8 lead jig head and my bass cacth has increased. They pull thru the weeds ok and color doesn't seem to make a difference. I have used rootbeer, silver fleck and yellow.
  23. I've been buying a lure for the past year called the blaze minnow for 2.99 and I catch as many fish on them as any other lure regardless of price. I also use saltwater plastics that seem to out perform zoom or bass assassins flukes. I'm not saying that I out catch anyone but I have caught many hundreds of bass this year(quite a few over 5#)on them and I'm not even a bass fisherman, I'm looking for peacocks. I have an unlimited budget
  24. I never liked it, line would occasionally wrap around that appendage, whatever you call it. I took if off.
  25. Buying from a store that is giving a nice deals, then turn around and backstab. There may be some extenuating circumstances. Bad karma ! There a stores that I don't care for, deal or not I just don't go in. Sorry to them go I liked their shoe department.
