  1. I'll take "Nicknames of you high school girlfriend for $500 Alex..."
  2. Welcome from the NW Burbs. You can post local reports and goings on here
  3. It is unlawful to possess live gobys.
  4. @A-Jay might be a better judge BUT my answer remains yes. I'm guessing the 37' is at max capacity and max ballast. Every boat has a sweet spot. The freighter will run at 27' draft, albeit not ideal, when it has to. Goby's LOL
  5. When he's sober...
  6. Name him "Fatso"
  7. Ballast. A ship can pump in and out ballast water as needed.
  8. Someone texted me something similar today.
  9. Life happens when you've made other plans. I don't trust antidepressant meds when the side effects are depression..... I'm 52. Had a career ending injury 10 years ago. The injury cause debilitating headaches 24/7 and I lost 90% use of my left arm. Talk about wanting to put a bullet in my head.... Worked with my hands my entire career and now only one of them works. I kept at it and found a doctor that was able to perform a surgery on my shoulder that made life livable again. I continue to suffer pain and discomfort all day every day...but I've accepted it. It's no longer debilitating mentally, the physical limitations are still in force. I can live with it. Gave up tourney fishing in 2013. It crushed my son as he was my partner. Stopped targeting bass and became more of a multi species fisherman. Guess what I'm trying to say is there are always alternatives out there. I can sit and wallow in my pity or I can get on with my life. I don't post here nearly as much as I did when I was healthy. When I had a "real" boat. Don't matter. I still take my 82yo dad fishing and his arthritis is horrible. I have to help him in and out of the boat and sometimes to get on his feet at the dock. Crawling on all 4's on the dock hasn't stopped him from fishing. I'm not minimizing your physical ailments, just stating where there is a will there is a way, and showing up is half the battle.
  10. I'd never put it in an outboard.
  11. Argonne labs in IL is home to a population of Fallow Deer which are native to Africa. They were given to, or sold to the original owner of the land from the Rothschild family. The deer are all white but are not albino. Do you know if the above deer is a true albino or just a long distance from home?
  12. She's juiced up with E85 at 2.89 a gal. Regular unleaded is 3.89 in the collar county where I fill up. Still 4.50-5.00 a gallon in Crook County and $5.50 in Chicago
  13. You should be able o do it with a single cable. Anything more on the network and you will need the hub.
  14. Don't sweat it. Kids got a great deal and you cleared out your garage for new gear. Win, win!
  15. Where is that located?
  16. It is unlawful to posess live gobies on the Great Lakes
  17. I think Bangs has 1, possibly 2 public piers, otherwise it's private. You can rent pontoons from Wauconda Boat. If you launch your own boat, there is a user fee in addition to the ramp fee. Lake is patrolled by the Wauconda PD and they will ticket you if you don't pay the user fee. There annual fee is more yhan the Chain. I always fished the lake from ice out until the police boat puts in for the season and then from when they pull it out until ice up.
  18. Probably some of the better managed subdivision ponds. I know a pond that gives up 5s and 6s regularly, early season. Fox Chain might give up 1 or 2 7s annually to the tournament guys. Bangs has/had some healthy bass but haven't fished it in quite a few years. Bangs is managed by the village rather than the DNR. I don't think it's managed well. I've seen a lot of cannibalism due to lack of bait fish but the lake gives up some big bass and pike annually.
  19. You know, I truly do fear what the future has in store for my grandson. The degradation of society is what took his father's life. (No sympathy, guy was a POS)The addictive personality in the grandson is blatantly obvious. Doesn't help that the kid is an alpha male, and probably suffers from ADD or ADHD. He's on 100% max speed, 100% of the time. I can only hope my influence steers the addiction gene to to something positive. Kid loves to fish...but I question sometimes whether it's the fishing or just loves to spend his time with papa. I'm probably overthinking this. Took him to bass fish Sturgeon Bay...Not seriously, but I brought the net with because, you never know. He was more interested in netting fish than reeling them in. Would have been fine except, none of the fish were networthy. If I had the energy of a 20 year old, I could handle a 5 year old with no problems. I'm not 20 and this kid wears me out. Take care of those grandkids now. You could be the difference.
  20. I don't like flying but not because of crashing. The entire airport experience should be enough to prevent anyone from flying. The saving grace is the airplane ride.
  21. I have 2 people I would consider best friends, 1 male and 1 female, neither of which I speak to often. When we do speak or hang out, be it a month between, a year between, or even longer, the conversation carries on like we just spoke yesterday. Our lives have all taken different direction yet, I'd give my left nut for both of them.
  22. First brownie and first rocky. Also caught his first of probably many gobies.
  23. When you get out of the city there are some pretty cool diners and roadside attractions to visit on Route 66 in IL.
