Any women or girls on this site?
There have been a few here that have come and gone. Not sure why it matters one way or another. I work in a male dominated trade. Don't know what the real numbers are but if 1% of the tradespeople are women, I'd say that's a lot. My personal opinion, is if dad was a fisherman and dad took daughter under his wing, we'd have more women fishing. No different than men. Had my father not introduced fishing to me when I was young, I probably wouldn't be fishing. Nor would my son. Dad used to drag my sister along with us. She never fished, she just played with the minnows. I inherited all of my dad's sisters fishing gear when she passed a few years ago. She fished her entire life. When I was a kid, if dad wasn't taking us to the lake, my aunt was. I am grateful that all the women in the family don't have issue with the men fishing or hunting. If I'm going fishing, I'm going fishing. Mom had no problem with it. The ol' lady has no problem with it. My daughter is thrilled I'm taking the grandson away so she can get a break. While I don't hunt, my daughters biological father is a hunter and I help him butcher his deer and I get 1/2 the meat. If he gets a deer or two or three this year, we are going to let Eric watch/help out.

Old Photo from the big "O" in Fl.
You'll find the same with immigrants to the US. Fishing is not a sport, it is for sustenance. A bass life is no more or less important than a walleye life, than a crappie life, than a salmon life, than a carp life. If the harvesting rules are being adhered to, doesn't matter what anyone thinks.

Career changes
I can relate. You're very fortunate, after your accident, you are even able to walk. I got hurt at 42. I'm now 52 and I'm working for my 4th company in that span of 10 years. I've been here 4-1/2 years and I love my job. Can't say the same about the other 3 companies I worked at the 5-1/2 years prior. There is nothing more difficult than waking up in the morning, knowing you are going to a place you hate going to, day in and day out. My whole thing is/was I worked alone my entire career up until the time I got hurt. I have always had a problem with authority figures. First job, the pay sucked. I was making 40% less than when I was still in the trades. 2nd and 3rd jobs were in corporate America, using my trade knowledge in a different capacity. They paid decent and the work was easy. I couldn't deal with the people and the policies. I don't need to be micro managed. You hired me to do a job. Let me do it. If my performance doesn't meet or exceed your expectations, then fire me. Couldn't be happier than where I'm at. I run a HVAC supply house and can do whatever I want as long as the store is making money. I'd think, if I saw my boss or the owner of the company, more than once a year, I was doing something wrong. They hired me to do a job. They let me do it. After getting my own store to run 2-1/2 years ago, and by run, it was just me and the customers, management hired me an employee. He's been with me since the end of May and he's been pretty good. I can deal with (what I consider are) his personality flaws...Maybe I'm the one with the flaws, who knows? There's something out there for you. Jobs are like women. Plenty of bad ones. When you find a good one, ride it to the end of the line. I love to go to work. Company is a 3rd generation family run business and they treat me like family.

Decent boat cover?
If you don't want to spend $1500 on a custom cover with a 10 year warranty, you can get a Bass Pro/Cabela' for under $200. I bought a BPS cover for a temporary when I was waiting for a custom one to be made. Pretty heavy duty material they use.

Thank You Mobasser
When people think Mepps, they think trout. I don't recall catching bass on them, but I've caught many a pike.

My favorite meal? The one that's in front of me. Food is like music. Lots of good, lots of bad, and few fantastic.- 2 Stroke 15 HP Johnson Starts Cold But Not Warmed Up
Maybe a vent issue with the fuel tank?- Tackle Manufacturing - Why can't I get this hook!?
It's been very tricky the last couple years. It's also been very profitable. My company has an advantage in the industry. We tend to hire people in the industry rather than a body with a pulse. Not sure if I mentioned it but, and I know, you know more than most, I have almost tripled the sales in my store over the last 2 years. Won't get into the numbers. If you need a new hvac system, get it before 2023.- Fishing Etiquette
Do tell...- Tackle Manufacturing - Why can't I get this hook!?
Can't get stuff because there ain't no stuff to get. I'm a wholesaler. I'm waiting on orders placed over a year ago. Current lead times on some items are anywhere from 8 weeks to 2 years.- have you even had a package stolen from your front porch?
Had a microwave stolen last week from in front of my store. My purchasing girl ordered me a microwave off Amazon. They delivered it after the store had closed for the day. Driver left it out front. Get a call from the purchasing girl on Wednesday. "I got confirmation the microwave was delivered. You haven't received the PO"...Didn't receive it because it wasn't there.- Turtles and bass

May not mean much. May mean a lot. My heart is with you. I may not know you but you are my brother.- Gentleman I found the lake Menderchucks
If you're referring to Momma as HR, that's one thing. I work for a family owned company. The owners exact words. "If I ran HR, we'd be sued and out of business." He's a few years my junior. I love to push his limits. As long as I make him money and I'm not a liability, I can do whatever I want. When I worked in corporate America, as a crippled tradesman, the HR girl despised me. Don't know what se had against me. She was a dyke and I was a.....forgot how to use English. She had a bug up her ass* against me.- In Honor and Remembrance ~
