  1. Gentleman and ladies. The outdoor event for kids, posted previously, has been cancelled due to lack of registration and the Highland Park shootings. Maybe next year.
  2. Tomatoes are doing well, still waiting on the cucumbers.
  3. Phone party lines...
  4. Not even My Space? LOL
  5. Spare me the moose knuckle in the yoga pants... I'm 52 and I like working. While I'm hoping to retire in 10 years, I'm looking for a side gig right now educating folks in the commercial/industrial hvac/r trade. Our industry is hurting for qualified techs. Silly me, I'm thinking about the future of the trade and not my future... The trade has been good to me(minus crippling myself) I'd love to see others reap the benefits. Robust is both a physical and mental state. I may not be so robust physically, as I once was, my mental robustness is at the top of it's game. I've realized my physical limitations post injury. I imagine you've realized your physical limitations post 55 years old, although you hide it very well. It's all about what you have going on upstairs. Keeping the brain sharp and keeping the brain positive is the key to a happy anything.
  6. My second cousin. His grandfather is(was) my uncle(moms brother). My uncle moved from Chicago to Austin in the late 70's. Kids name is Giuseppe. Probably the only person named Giuseppe in the entire state of Texas. LOL His mother Gia is my first cousin and his father William Robert(yes, Billy Bob) is Texan.
  7. Fish was brought to the official weigh station today. I'm hearing he may have set 2 records.
  8. Before or after cracking a beer?
  9. and I'd be happy with that.
  10. The unofficial Lake Travis TX junior angler record caught last night by my cousin. 30lbs, 37"
  11. Caught last night by my cousin. Previous junior angler striper record was 18lbs. This one weighed over 30lbs and 37".
  12. In Chicago proper, 87 is still over $6
  13. He spent the next 2 hours telling me he's a better fisherman than me.
  14. Well, i tried. Gas station is out of all grades of flex fuel ethanol. I'm still saving $1.00 a gallon driving 15 minutes to a different county. 5.49 for 87 octane in my county, 4.49 in the neighboring county, and E85 in the neighboring county is 3.49
  15. What I do is take a pic with the phone and email it to myself. That process reduces it automatically. Then, I save it to my phone or laptop and then attach to the post.
  16. Poor habitat=small fish
  17. I believe it takes a gallon of oil to create a gallon of ethanol. Don't know if there is truth to this statement but I have heard if you fill up during the daytime during the heat of the summer, there is more "air" in the gas because of expansion in the underground fuel tanks. During the evening the fumes condense back into fuel so there is less air. Again, don't know if there is any truth to that.
  18. If I recall, @Jigfishn10 is the BR expert on the subject.

The walleye at the beach front restaurant was sold as fresh. Fresh is negligible. I freeze all my fillets in water. Takes up a lot of room in the freezer but no risk of freezer burn and the fish tases just as good as the day it was caught.
  21. Real world problems. Where there's a will there's a way.

You know what's funny, we went walleye fishing on Erie in May. We ate lunch one day at a restaurant on the beach in Port Clinton. I didn't get walleye but my cousin and my son both did. Both of them said the walleye we caught and cooked tasted better than the walleye they ordered at the restaurant.
  23. Miles of weedbeds = miles of topwater

My brother has a friend in New Orleans that owns a restaurant. Every Christmas Eve he ships us an oyster care package to celebrate Feast of the Seven Fishes. As far as being filter feeders, Same reason it is not recommended to eat fish over a certain size out of the Great Lakes. Zebra mussels filter the contaminants from the water. The goby's main forage is zebra mussels. Bass, walleye, and salmonoids eat the gobies, people eat the bass, walleye, and salmonoids. That which does not kill me makes me stronger
