  1. i noticed neither one of these is very popular here, but i dont have a choice. my condo acc is going to fine me for having my 12' jon. i need something i can fit in my shed and load ON my car. which one is more stable? i like the fact that i could mount a foot controled trolling motor on a jon, but the bass raider only weights 85#'s with seats. most of the places i fish are under 100 acres. i had more than enough room on my 12'. i know i can get a used jon for less than the raider. the jons im looking at are welded with a 36" botom. i like how high up you sit in the raider. i would apreciate any advise from people who have owned or used either or both. pro's and con's please. thanks in advance.
  2. rocky pond? only been there once myself.
  3. count me and the wife in. we were suppossed to have a tournament earlyer this year but it got cancelled. was really looking forward to it.
  4. went out to the merrimack for a few hours with unhbass. fishing was real slow but i managed this monster. this fish had "alot of heart".
  5. when we going? also, if you want to hit the merrimack in my boat let me know. shouldnt be a problem. me and the wife made it 2 mile up.
  6. thanks. she usualy outfishes me. im a better guide than fisherman.
  7. i cant seem to find any over 1.7 pounds. are they in a particular part of the water(deep?) thanks in advance.
  8. one of my favorite places to fish. when the bass aint bitting the big pickeral are. deepest spot is 6-7ft deep. we usualy fish the edge of the pads with spinnerbaits and any color senko type worm. my wife caught a 2.12 and a 3.12 there in the same day. we have had the best luck fishing from the left of the ramp to the house with the lighthouse on the dock. also had some luck fishing the side with the houses back to the ramp. we had better luck early in the year. never had too much luck in the nashua river.
  9. thanks. caught her on a black/blue mini spinnerbait. got back out with the wife around 4:30 on the merrimack. d**n, its shallow. we made it about 50 yards from the island and decided to fish our way back. we hit every pile of rocks sticking out of the water and my wife caught 2 smallies. i had one come off and the wife had a couple come off.
  10. got out for a couple of hours today with the wife. we both did good. i caught a nice four pounder.
  11. im pretty sure you wouldnt want to use bondo on a boat. it is hydroscopic and absorbs water and swells/cracks. maybe marglass(fiberglass filler). i personaly prefer something more flexible. the bedliner also has a slight sound deadening effect. if your boat has a bunch of holes in it i wouldnt invest alot of money in it. i would fix it on the cheap and save for something better.
  12. where do you fish the merimack when its high? ive been told that from the nashua launch to the island in litchfeild/ merimack is best when its low.
  13. the bedliner works fine if you prep the surface correctly and its probably cheaper and more available than some specialty sealer. drag??? lol. who can tell and who cares at less than 5 mph. makes sense why i cant get up one plane when i padle or use my trolling motor. : not everyboday can afford a truck or a trailer. i use foam pads in between the boat and my roof. ill do whatever it takes to get on the water. i paid $1400 for my CUTLASS over a year ago and if it gets scratched who cares. its a beater.
  14. i used "roll on" truck bed liner. if the back corners are worn from dragging the boat this wont help. for sealing corners ive had luck with 3m 5200.
  15. im back to report from my weekend trip to moultonboro. we got up there thursday night after work and i got out on the water in my 12' jonboat friday morning with my son. we fished from the suissvale launch up to about the lees mill area. i caught a decent bass and a large pickeral before the the storm clouds came in so we left after about an hour and a half of fishing. my freinds came up with there 16' alumnim v-hull that night and we piled everyone(6 of us) onto it satuday morning. my daughter forgot the map in the car and we found a bunch of shallow rocks(the hard way) down past twin islands. it was soo windy and choppy we were thinking about filming it for a new reallity show(x-treme bass fishing) for the discovery channel. my kids were so traumatised from all the rocking and the waves crashing into the boat so we decided to head back, wich took us forever becaude any time we got any speed up the waves would come crashing into the boat and everyone would get soaked. about an hour or so after we got off the water the waves and wind subsided, but the wives had already made plans for us so there was no more fishing that day. sunday morning i woke up early and grabbed my son and my boat and headed out to fish. it was 39* outside. we fished around the 3 islands in front of the suissvale launch and i got a small pickeral and a really small sunfish. we headed back in for brunch and by then everyone was awake. we headed back out(just the adults) on my freinds boat and fished the weedbed outside hemlock cove and my buddies wife caught a yellow perch. we hit the cove next to it but didnt have any luck so we headed back towards lees mill and fished around the big island. my wife and my freind each caught a big pickeral and my freinds wife, who says she never catches anything other than sunfish caught a nice bass. we ran out of time so we had to head back. i wish i could have spent a little more time on the water. there are alot of rocks at that lake that come out of knowhere. place is so big its overwhelming. we never even left moultonborough bay. good time anyways.---tom
  16. heading up tomorow after work for the weekend. any last minute advise would be greatly apreciated.
  17. nice place to go birdwatching. unhbass, i got my motor today. i just had to flush the tank and clean the carb and points. i couldnt get it to idle without the choke on so i moved the clip on the carb needle down one slot(has a dirtbike slide style carb.) and now it idles half decent. there was also a restricter plate behind the carb that only allowed it to flow about 30% wich i removed. makes sense why i had to richen her up after i took it out. i sent you a video on your phone. heres a pic without the covers on. me and my son are making the maiden voyage tomorow. not bad for $50, eh?
  18. fridays are good for me. it took forever in my boat to go any distance up river. the water is high again and the current was swift so we never made it to the hot spot.
  19. got out twice today. once with unhbass and later with my wife. me and unhbass caught a few bass and pickeral but no lunkers. my wife caught her first smallmouth today in the merrimack river. it was only 14oz, but it put up a good fight. heres a pic;
  20. i wouldnt bother with musquash. i doubt its even fishable this time of year with all the lilypads. my wife caught a bass there in april though.
  21. me and my son went to robinson tonight after the rain stoped. sure was windy and choppy. water temp has gone from 81* last week to 70* today. we each caught bass and i also caught a good sized sunfish on a senko. it was nice having the pond to ourselves but the wind made it a little frustrating. unhbass, just a heads up, my boat has a slow leak where the transome meets the floor. i ran out of the good sealant so i put some "shoe goop" on it for now. should be ok for tomorow.
  22. thanks for taking me on your tratcker. that thing is awsome!!! looks like the rest of the weekend is going to be a washout, wich sucks 'cause i still got alot of fishing in me.
