New Curado
Just asking a question, no need to be a smarty pants..

Do you really need super heavy line?
Like RW, I use 12lb yozuri us on my bc'rs..1 is a swimbait/jig rig..I don't find that the line stretches that much, but then I've never used braid either. Also have 6 and 8 lb yozuri on my spinning rigs. I find that this line is pretty strong, and has good abbrassion resistance..cept for sharp rocks..lol

Bad on the lake habits
Just don't do those things again... Try to plan your attack, upper water..no bite's then mid level water, then bottom..no bites..move on. I find that I really need to Concentrate hard and remain focused, otherwise I can pretty much waste a good day of fishing.

The Curse of The Spinnerbait
Never had that problem. ? could what Glenn discribed be caused from a violent flip of the wrist while casting..? i.e. the bait goes backwards, then before it gets going forward, the line get caught between the wires..?

Dead beat partner!!!!!!!!
Just my 3 cents..but if someone in this case it was Dink, ask's someone if they'd like to fish on his boat, the Least that person could do is chip in for 1/2 the cost of the trip..NILIF..I know if I was offered a trip, I'd spring for more than 1/2 off the cost, but that's just me. IMHO it shouldn't be up to Dink to scrutinize (sp) a person that's gonna be going, it should be up to the guest, to MAN UP, and pay his share, then again there will be a$$hats out there. Better luck next time Dink.

Moving back to So Cal from the East. looking for spots...
Welcome back..and thanks for your service.. 8-) Also in Escondido is lake hodges, open wed, sat and sunday only..if your willing to hike a bit, you can shore fish, they also have rental boats. Then in SD there s a few lakes down there too. If you want to travel a bit, you have lake Skinner, and DVL, although I'd recomend Skinner, as it has more to offer, like camping, and a bunch of related activites..it's in the city of Winchester.

bps extreme reel
I have an older Extrem..If this is yourm first baitcaster, set the brakes on the highest, the spool friction knob which is on the same side as the crank, tighten it down, with a 3/8 oz lure ties to the rig, Slowly loosen the spool friction knob until the lure Slowly drops, and leave it there..Your cast's won't real long, but it will help with backlashes/ birdnest's..Use your thimb as a brake i.e. feather the spool, apply pressure as soon as your bait hits the water...and the word of the day here is..Practice, Practice, and more practice. Until you can cast alot without any problems, you can then slowly back off the brake if needed, and you can do the same with the spool friction knob..Be aware if you back off the friction to much, it creates a space between the frame and spool, and there's a chance your line can get wraped up in there, so take baby steps when making adjustments. Have Fun!

Bakersfield fishing
Also keep in mind, big bass got that way for a reason...they usually are conditioned to seein lures, and noise's ect will spook them. Throw baits and use patterns that others don't..be Stealthy, try to fish in low light, i.e. real early in the morning, or late afternoon IF the lake/pond is a Shallow one. Also fish where there's cover and flowing water/ current if they exsist.
