  1. You can drop shot, anywhere, and any time of the year.
  2. Rod..Diawa Tatula XT Reel...Diawa Fuego. I have both of these...
  3. A mono line I think that is way under rated and often over looked is Sufix Elite. I have it ranging from 6lb to 20 lb, and it has virtually no memory, cast's a country mile, good knot strength. The camo version blends in really well with a lot of water that I fish in, I also use the clear. Comes in 330 yard spools which is nice, and very reasonably priced.
  4. I have never gone over 8lb on my spinning rigs, be it mono, or fluro. 10lb mono or fluro would be the minimum on a baitcaster..I am getting away from fluro, and using more mono. I've tried just about every brand out there, in the last few months, I'm really liking Sufix Elite, both the camo and clear. No memory, it's soft, cast's great and is reasonably priced, and it comes in 330 yd spools..Bit the bullet, and go heavier line on the baitcaster.
  5. I had a 200 Cardiff on my old Dobyns 806 swimbait rig, I had no issues casting it up to about 50 yards. As Tom said, it's the rod and the person doing the casting.
  6. In my trout stocking post, my reason for that was, when they do the trout stocking, the swimbait fishing for bass takes off. I don't fish for trout or any other types of fish. Re: that it brings out the worst in people, well it does for some, like the guys that will catch a trout, then use it for bait to catch bass, But, that is Illegal here. What I found most guys who do this fish from shore.
  7. That is one Slick lookin boat, as is the trailer too..Congratz..
  8. So, after I did some checking, DVL has been stocking trout since 11/03..The last stocking was 12/03..
  9. I'm right handed, all of my reels are LH, and have been since day 1 which longer than I care to remember..
  10. Did they mention anything re: your sciatic nerve..? When I experienced pain, think a Dull constant pain, in my left leg it was due to a pinched sciatic nerve. It's a shame you have to wait until the 31st to find anything out, and ask questions. Re: your disc, that's partially true, it will always be subject to re injury, the good news is, once you find out why is became herniated, you can take measures to avoid doing it again, and with the proper PT, you will feel little to no pain. Tonight while I was at the golf range working on my swing, I made a Stupid move, and my back was hurting, my point is, it may only take one small move to aggravate the disc, as I mentioned before, you have to very careful on how you move, i.e. no sudden jerky type moments, ect. Anyway, I sure hope you get some Good news, and be on the road to some pain free living.
  11. Interesting..I did not know that. Thanks for the info Tom..
  12. I don't do facebook, did they happen to give any dates for the plant..? I don't know, but Castaic and most all the city park lakes/ponds are getting trout plants, and soon.
  13. Great news. Bet your Mom is one Tough lady. Hope she has a full recovery, and gets rid of that forever..
  14. I'll have to give the DFG a call. Years ago when they would stock trout, the swimbait fishing was great, much better than when it wasn't being stocked.
  15. Just looked at the DFG website for trout plants, and it does not include DVL..Anyone have info to the contrary..? Not sure how this will effect the swimbait bite if at all.
  16. This may help too, some good info here...
  17. Totally agree. I learned to do this a looooong time ago.
  18. I'm thinking along the same lines. IMHO, the DC kind of limits the learning curve on getting skilled at using a bait casting reel, oth..I think if a person has a disability, or just can't get the hang of using a old fashion reel, then the DC is probably a good thing. I would never consider buying one.
  19. Man, hope you heal up quick and get back out on the water. Being sick sucks. Sending good vibes your way.
  20. So, over the last 12 years or so, I've bought 12 rods from TW, all shipped in the usual cardboard tubes. None of them were damaged in any way. If these were to be damaged to the point of causing damage to the rod, someone would have to run over them with a USP truck or something.
  21. You owe me 15 seconds of my life back..
  22. There are now certain things you cannot do, and some things you do have to be done without bringing your back into the equation, just a fact of life unfortunately. Your Doc and PT should go over some of these things to help keep you as pain free as possible. Once again, Proper stretching will help a bunch, your Doc and PT will recommend which ones to do. Hope things work out for you.
  23. Did you happen to find out what is causing your back issues..? I've had lower back problems for over 50 years, your posture, how you lift things, if you play golf, ect..My PT recommended a couple of good stretching exercises to help with correcting the bulging disc, ect..At 2 points in my life, I could not even walk, the Doc's put me on some heavy drugs, to relieve the pain, in hind sight those were just band aids, and caused their own problems. I'm 71, and play golf regularly, I can make a 90 degree shoulder turn, and hit the ball fairly well for my age. However, if I don't swing correctly, I do get some pain. I also some years ago bought a sleep number bed, and I have it set so it's really Firm, that helps, if I sleep on a to soft bed, I feel the difference as soon as I wake up. Seeing a Back specialist is a good start, having a really good PT helps a bunch.
  24. If both reels are in good working order, heck Yes, they are worth it..IMHO..
  25. We had/have a rash of porch Thieves during the holidays, and beyond. Ask your neighbors if they are at home during the day if they could keep an eye out for any deliveries you have, and if they could hold them for you..Hope you get this resolved..
