Lucky, it's your choice, but the reason I would never buy these combos is due to the abuse. Although it may work for you for years, and I really hope it does, but when a high modulus graphite rod gets hit in any way, it will become significantly weaker on the spot of contact. I can't tell you how many broken rods we're brought in from customers for warranty because the tips snapped off. When customers pick up rods and test them out, 50% of the time the tip makes contact with something. Therefore, whoever buys them has a good chance at breaking them. The way these "Pro Qaulifiers" will be treated, there is a good chance they will break. They come in bundles by the 50 and are lashed together by twine and large zipties. At the bottom of the packaging they are wrapped in are dozens of broken off tips and guides. Like I said, buy them if you want. But I just want to make sure you are not getting robbed of your hard earned dollar.

I gotta throw in my 02. so no one will get robbed. I got to experience all the wonderful things Bass Pro does to get more sales last year when I worked for them. These ARE NOT the true Pro Qaulifier combo. I actually think the Pro Qaulifier series by Bass Pro is a very good setup and I own a few. These combos that there advertising are massed produced just for this sale and are delivered in massive bundles to the warehouse. When they come off the trucks, about 1/4 of the rods are broken from abuse and the ones still intact are put on the sales floor. So for $69.99 you get a cheap version of the Pro Qaulifier that has already been harshly treated and damaged. IMO I would NEVER buy one of these combos.

I had the wonderful experience of working Thanksgiving day last year at Bass Pro Shops. Nobody was there, and I had to eat lunch at a chinese resteraunt ( the only place open ). Geez I hate that place. I think I've been there once since I stopped working there. Go to local mom and pop tackle stores. They carry more and actually have a soul.

true that jimzee! after having woken up one night with a wolf spider on my leg and a bite mark that easily had a 1/4" spacing between the fangs, everytime i see one i will absolutely cower in the corner. for some reason, they are extremely common where i live, and i usually see 10 or 15 every year. i had one in my garage that was so big, i could hear it's feet hitting the ground when it ran away. i scream like a woman when i see them.......ughhhhh (shudders)

I had the same exact thing last winter. The cast SUCKS!!! I broke my left hand too, and I'm left handed. I think I had the cast on for 2 months, but I was able to fish. Only problem was, I couldn't palm the reel in my casted hand, so I had to buy a few left handed b-casters. Setting the hook was the weirdest thing ever. Heal quick!

that pic is too cool. im guessin you were pullin on the line with your hand and the fish came unbuttoned. The lure jumped up and flipped over and the fish slid back in. If that guess is right, then you have an AWESOME photgrapher in the boat with you.

I do the same thing as Matt. Rat-L-Trap has gotten tons of reviews from customers saying that they catch just as many fish with a blank trap than a new one. Take a brand new chrome/black trap and scrape it up. It looks AWESOME in the water.

Man some people are hard to please. Whats wrong with a nine pounder that I called the exact location on (Thanks to my buddy Senko77 ;D) Guess you wanted a ten and for me to tell you which cast you would get it on. : Need I remind you that you got your PB twice while fishing with me. : You did have a few trips on tough days though. The one at Sweetwater was one of the worst ever. Lightninrod hasn't seen any days with me anywhere close to that yet.

Right on Hookem!! This site has been such an important part of who I am now. Like you, I first used this site more for learning new techniques, but it has become more like a club like LBH said. I post most often in the Outings and Everything Else section. I love how fast you get answers. Answers that aren't one or two words, but whole paragraphs full of good info. I just made a thread called "major dilemma" and in 24hours I've gotten some of the most imformative answers I could have asked for. I love this site and do think of it as "home"

+1 on that. Please be extremely careful when your using the muratic acid. it is very strong and if it's mixed wrong, will spit out and sizzle. also, it can seriously burn your skin in just a few moments if it gets on you. wear eye protection, and if possible, a respirator...it will choke you up good if you get to close to it

So far you've got some great info! If I were on the bank, I would continue to hit those points and the cover you said you have already found. Although the shad are migrating, there are still a majority that will stay on your spots. I would also just cover water. Although the surface is calm, WW3 could being going on underwater. The more water you hit, the better chance you have of hitting the awesome fall feeding frenzies. Also, keep an eye out on the surface. Sometimes you can see bubbles rising together. And while sometimes it's just the bottom, if the group of bubbles start moving, it usually indicates that a school of shad are below. Also, shad will come up to the surface and sorta "nip" at the top. You will see little swirls. These are shad feeding on the plankton on the surface. Anywhere you see these schools of shad, there will be bass close by. And lastly, use the wind to your advantage. I've caught so many fish on the bank by fishing the windy side of a point or hump, or paralleling a wind-blown bank. My favorite bait in fall is a lipless crankbait. I would suggest a Bill Lewis Lures Rat-L-Trap in 1/2oz in the Diamond Dust color, or the Yo-Zuri Rattl N' Vibe in Baby Bass. I throw these to baits almost exclusively in fall Hope this helps and good luck

I agree with Chris. The 4x4 crankbait made by Whittler here on the forums is absolutely awesome at combing shallow water. I CANNOT get it hung up in even the gnarliest shallow cover. I've got some real good un's ever since I've been throwing that bait. The other thing about Whittler's baits are the custom paintjobs. I had a tournament last March where I knew I would need a shallow running crankbait. I found a color I liked for the lake and Whittler had it to my door before tourny day.

The advice you've gotten so far is all good stuff. I just wanted to add one more thing to it. Sometimes a fish will inhale your lure and it will feel really "mushy"....sorta like your in grass. That just goes along with the, if it feels different, set the hook. Another thing to is sometimes a fish will be running at you and it feels like you have to reel up alot more slack than you did the last time you picked up your worm. In that case, set the hook also.
