  3. add senile1 GMAN Senile1, all aboard. I'll have food for eveybody. Would that be Boulevard beer you're referring to? One of my favorite breweries. Yes, it will be Boulevard and I will be bringing a few makes and models: Pale Ale, Amber, Pilsner, and Wheat. If you have one you like that I'm not bringing let me know and I'll get it.
  4. My wife is quite often my partner on a lot of fishing trips. I don't fish with any other women except for my daughters and my granddaughter but they aren't into it that much. I've asked my wife if I could fish with other women but she doesn't seem to like that idea. : As for the women's forum, I think that most of the subjects are covered in the other forums and it doesn't leave much for that forum to discuss, unfortunately. And the number of women members would also explain some of the lack of activity as well.
  5. ghoti, I'm not going to the Road Trip but I am dropping by Saturday evening. I'm taking the long way from Kansas City to Sikeston, MO via Kentucky Lake to my Dad's to pick him up for fishing. Since the Lake is only a couple of hours or so from my Dad's I thought I would come over and meet some of you. Don't worry about providing for me. I'll be bringing some Kansas City brewed beer to leave with you guys for the week. (I may drink a couple myself.) Isn't a soiree a greek organization for women in college?
  6. Logically, how can the vast majority of us really have favorites. I'm sure most of us haven't come close to trying every brand that is out there. Maybe someone like Raul has come close. Essentially, we just provide what we use that we like as our favorites. This is the equipment I use right now that I like the most. (Subject to change every few months. ) Rods - G.loomis Reels - Shimano Line - Sufix Performance Braid, Seaguar InVizx fluorocarbon, Yo Zuri Hybrid copolymer, Sufix Elite Nylon Monofilament Hardbaits - Lucky Craft, Rapala, Bomber, Bagley Jigs - GMAN Spinnerbaits - Booyah and Strike King Softbaits - Strike King Rage Tail Storage - Any bag on sale from Cabela's that meets my requirements.
  7. Welcome to the Bass Resource community. Your screen name is a mouthful.

  9. I think the out of balance idea sounds right. You say the brim fishing is excellent. Are you catching nothing but really large bluegill? If that is the case it could indicate that all of the smaller bluegill are being eaten and you probably do have an over-population of bass.
  10. Wow! That is a fish of a lifetime. I wish I had seen this thread before. Most of us will never catch a fish like that. That's fantastic!
  11. Thank you, Glenn.
  12. Wow! That's definitely a bummer. My lakes turned to liquid in the last week. I put line on all my rods this weekend and I'm ready to go. I hope to get my first day on the lake by next weekend.
  13. If I had to conceal the money spent on my favorite pastime it wouldn't be much of a marriage.
  14. Too bad, Chris. I know about wind living here on the Missouri side of the edge of Kansas. My main lake is in a rolling hill area and the wind hits it hard on most days. When it's too bad I will choose a smaller lake with more protection.
  15. These are the generally accepted rules of thumb for the use of the different types of line. Many people have their own ideas that differ somewhat from this. Monofilament Nylon - Use for techniques in which you want the line to float and you want a little shock absorption so you won't rip the hooks out of a fish's mouth. (i.e. topwater, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, etc.) Fluorocarbon - Use for techniques where you want to get lures as deep as possible. (i.e. Deep crankbaits) Use this line or copolymer if you are fishing rocks for better abrasion resistance. Use if you have a concern that line visibility may be an issue. (clear water finesse techniques or as a leader on braid for jigs and soft plastics) Braid - Use for techniques such as jigs and soft plastics where you want to feel the bite immediately. Use in thick brush and vegetation where you need to horse fish out. (Can be used with treble hook baits and topwaters on a softer rod.) Copolymer - Jack of all trades. On a side note, in a recent episode of The Bass Pros Kevin Van Dam stated that he uses fluorocarbon for something like 80 or 85 percent of his fishing now. That doesn't work for me but it obviously works for him.
  16. Welcome to the community.
  17. The Sunshine Showdown starts next week on the Harris Chain. It will be interesting to see how the BASS AOY plays out this year. There's a chance we could see some DD bass. Who do you think is going to be the angler to beat next week? Does anyone have a prediction for AOY this year, other than the usual suspects?
  18. Big-O, you've been killing ém. Nice. I can't wait to get on the water but right now, I'm sitting here with coffee in hand, living vicariously through your accomplishments.

  20. Welcome to the forum.
  21. Finding fish-holding locations is paramount. Once found, fine-tuning your presentation is the next goal. Presentation is useless if fish are unavailable. A large reservoir is a perfect example. When newly formed, fish can be all over the lake on many different structures. As the lake ages the fish slowly find the best structures in each area to use for their daily activities and many parts of the lake became skunk territory. As Senkosam stated, this is when it becomes very advantageous to know the lake, or at least to learn it quickly. Fishing with a buddy who knows a lake shortens the learning curve.
  22. X2 . . . . bathtub, sink, pan of water, etc.
  23. Welcome to the forum, Casey.
