Cranks: Rapala Best?
One thing I like to do with cranks when fishing them is to use a Rapala knot. It is a loop knot tied on about 2-4 inches up from the lure, frees up the lure to a more realistic action. Ok, with all this talk about fishing, where is my rod and reel? Let's go catch something boys!! Wdy PS Darren, I sent you a PM.

Cranks: Rapala Best?
Yeah, I do have to agree the color selection on some Rapala lines leaves something to be desired. Xcalibur, I cant believe I forgot that line of cranks. The blue back w/ chartreuse side, a real killer in VA. Well, I stunk with cranks, as in never catching a bass on a crankbait. I needed a cologne shower!!! hahah! Mr. DT fixed that problem. After I caught some fish on them, I was able to piece together rights and wrongs fishing a crank to become better. It also seems to me, everyone "learns," a crankbait. Meaning, we get better at fishing with it and become efficient/productive with working the lure and know how the lure will behave.

Best Spinning Reel For $80???????
yeah, I have an old Sedona from about 5 years ago, the gold reel. Worked great! Also maybe a Pfluger President, I think that is in your price range, not 100% sure.

Cranks: Rapala Best?
As much as I hate to say it the Rapala's just seem to work too well for me! (The reason I hate saying it, kind of feels like the Curado vs. Revo discussion.) I have had good success with Bandits, great crank. Also, the BPS Nitro series I have done well on. Those brands, and what "Bait Monkey," has told me to get, haha! I use to STINK at crankbait fishing! I mean, I might as well been using a Flying lure to catch an Alien. Then, the DT's hit, I tried them and knocked them out. For me, it seems to be the color patterns are what pull me to one brand over the other. I really like the Rapala colors, they seem to be a little "Sharper," then other brands. My two favorite colors are the yellow perch and more importantly Helsinki shad are just DYNAMITE! The darker back of the HS with a tint of purple almost at 4 plus feet on a fast retrieve! (Oops, I mean dont pay attention to that last sentence.) Funny store real fast, i was fishing a tournament with a DT6 Helsinki shad, I was committed to that lure for the day. First cast, 5lb bass, my boater was shocked with I yelled for the net right away. Caught a couple more bass on the HS DT6, and I knew I needed one more good 3+lb. Well, as I finished that thought a good size shadow came up close to the boat and took the HS DT6. I was soo exicted because that was the size fish I was looking for. Well, it ended up being a catfish, I could not believe he chased it that far. I have faith in the Rapalas and their colors, that's why I like them. A lot of fishing is being confident in what you are using. I think BPS has the DT's during their Spring Fishing classic for $5, if I remember correctly. Wdy

Curado Or Revo Sx?
Stick with the Shimano, you are familiar with that brand. You dont want to have to adjust, or have "variables," when switching reels. You should be able to just pick up the other reel (new reel) and cast the bait right into place. The number of bearings can be mis-leading. Bassmaster magazine did an article of reel bearings a couple of months ago, I cant find the exact magazine to give you the month to look up.

Lews Reels
I'm a Shimano posse member (Curado E family) and I have never heard anyone say anything bad about Lew's reels. The guy that cleans my reels always praises Lew's reels! If something happens to my little green family, I'm switching to Lew's for sure. For the money and what people say about them, and my experience handling them in stores I doubt you can beat them for the $$. Having said that, I think you will be pleased with a Lew's, enjoy it and post back what you think. Here's to good knots, and dumb fish!

Shakeyhead Rig, Stand Straight Up Or Lean At An Angle??
Rooster, thank you for making this post! I was having the same problem with shakey heads. I was using 1/8oz football and thought that was too light so, I got heavier ones. I am trying to learn this method and drop shot fishing before I go live and work in Lousiania.

Which Should Be Prefer River Or Lake Tomorrow In Va?
I've been fishing in local Richmond ponds and lakes this week. Drop shot, shakey heads and a weightless senko (4"), the hits have been pretty light. Letting you know what I experienced. I would fish lakes, I think they warm up faster. let us know what you do tomorrow.
