  1. Thanks guys! The lakes i fish are so shallow that i cannot get my boat withing a football fields length(more really) from the bank! I think that has pushed the fish into large schools in matted vegetation making them easier to find. The bite has been absolutely insane these past few weeks!!! Hope yall are catching them too!!!!
  2. Hey guys! I got out today on one of my long forgotten lakes and had an amazing day! Even though the lake is extremely shallow right now i landed 18 bass. Most of which where between 1-2lbs(still fun). Also, one that went 3lb 5oz and a 6lb 2oz as well(both pictured)! They where all caught while flippin' grass mats and cattails. http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc102/luist4498/100_0010.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc102/luist4498/100_0011.jpg
  3. If you dont't like what i post, very simple, stay out of my threads!
  4. I am still hearing that Kistler has an issue with too thin a wall and breaking issues!?!
  5. Anyone here tried the Helium LTA rods? Specifically the 7' EX H/F(HE70XHC) model? How is the sensitivity, strength, tip stiffness on these rods? THANKS
  6. Your current jig rod sounds like a great rod for anything with treble hooks to me. I would recommend a MH/F for the other lures mentioned. If $ is an issue, i would look into the St. Croix Mojo rods. They have a spinnbait MH/F that is perfect for spnnerbaits, jigs, T-Rigs, etc. Just my 2 cents though.
  7. 8lb mono with a M rod sounds more like a crankbait combo man! Just curious, why such small line for a lure that has the potential to attract bigger fish? Maybe its just me but all my jigs are fished on a Ex H/Ex F flippin' stick!
  8. EAT A BASS!?! OH BOY........................DELETE THIS WHILE YOU STILL CAN BRO! OR, LET THE BASHING BEGAIN!!!! J/K man, i want to learn as well!
  9. Most jigs hooks are a heavier gauge than say a regular EWG. I think you need a more powerful rod first of all. I usually give them about two seconds than try to break the rod. I hardly ever miss one(using heavy fluorocarbon as well). GOOD LUCK
  10. My two uncles live/fish in Michigan as well. They tell me Carolina rigs with 6" watermelon/red flake lizards fished right next to drop offs with cover(grass, rocks etc) when the heats kicks up has been deadly for them! Also, a swimbait in baby bass color(MatteLures i think). BEST OF LUCK MAN!!!!!
  11. Put me on a deep lake with no visible shallow cover and i am done for! I have no experience/confidence in deep water situations! I grew up fishing the nastiest of FL cover. I have become darn good at that aspect but never bothered to expand my techniques. Although i would love to find a local, experienced deep water angler to teach me a thing or ten about it!
  12. I use that one and the swimmin' image as well, both are great!
  13. Thanks guys, i think i will keep looking!
  14. Hard to tie for sure! I use only the Palomar knot and you have to go slooooowly and wet it really good(please, no cheap shots at that one)! Like i said, i have wrestled a lot of hawgs in the nastiest cover and it has yet to fail me! I have made it a priority to try and break it on every outing and it has yet to happen! My PB was caught using that line. It weighed over 8lb and was caught in a THICK field of pads and hydrilla mix!
  15. A natural colored Rat-L-Trap works from sun up to sun down in my ponds!
  16. Yes, just one.............can i fish with you!?! J/K, congrats man!!!
  17. Man, that looks really cool! I have ALWAYS wanted a mount but have never had the heart to kill a big one! And i am too cheap to spend over $200 on a replica, LOL!!!
  18. MAN, you got to weigh it before it got off!?!
  19. I always use 20-25lb BPS XPS fluoro in FL slop and have never had a problem with it breaking! I just landed a 7lb bass and about another 7lb of hydrilla over the memorial day weekend with it! The Powell rod i was using snapped but the line never even struggled!
  20. A monster blue catfish in NC while slow rolling a spinnerbait in 25ft of water! Well over 30lbs on my scale!
  21. Confidence is everything for me! If i don't feel confident in a lure, presentation or location, i will almost always leave empty handed! Because at the end of the day, a fish is a wild animal that does what it wants, not what a book or internet forum says it has to be doing at a certain time!
  22. Man, this is too much info for me to take it all in, LOL! Now you are saying there is an RX8+? Geeeez, i will never pick a rod!
  23. You are the third builder to tell me to go with St. Croix! I am seriously considering it. I loved the stiffness of the St. Croix Mojo but it is not sensitive enough for me nor does it have Fuji guides. What St. Croix would you recommend going by most sensitive, strongest and stiffest? THANKS
