  1. Explanation please? I've never heard of rigging plastics backwards. What benefit does this give you? Take a look at this http://reactioninnovations.com/images/Sweet_Beaver_rigging.jpg http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98474____SearchResults The weight actually hits the cover first instead of the lure hitting and just laying on the surface. I made my own weights for this and it works miracles in thick, nasty cover. For scattered cover you can even rig it backwards/weightless.
  2. They have floaters(available at Wal-Mart) but in very limited colors.
  3. It all depends on what you want i guess. I say the X5 for sure. It gives you a lot of options, comforts, and quality components for a fraction of the cost of other boats. My bro just got the Z8 Nitro and i think he got raped on the price! It is nothing special IMO(or maybe i'm just jealous)?
  4. Should have seen that coming!!!
  5. I love them personally! I put buzzbait blades in front of them to add more noise on windy days.
  6. I hear it is but i am not sure because this is my first MinnKota. Are you sure the II will fit the 40lb motor. I read on their site that the 40 is the only one that does not have it.
  7. That is exactly what i was thinking of making on mine man! Can you please post some pics?
  8. Every one of my reels are Revos but i have to give this one to the Curado(as much as it hurts)!!!! The Revos, IMO, excel with lures 1/4 oz and up.
  9. I use to use them because it was so easy to change crank sizes, colors etc. But then i hooked into a nice size fish one day on a trap and it bent out and i lost the fish and my trap!!!! > Needless to say, i don't use them anymore!
  10. Believe it or not i once found a "floater" in the 6lb range with some sort of baby rodent stuck in its throat. It looked to be an otter or something. I am not familiar with the rodent kingdom.
  11. I hardly ever fish cattails on my lakes! I have found them to be quite unproductive. I will beat the crap out of the bullrush though. I would say that 90% of my fish come from bullrush all year long!
  12. Powells may statistically be light, but any rod over 7ft is extremely tip heavy giving it the effect of feeling extra heavy. Thus not feeling as light, nor are they as sensitive as the new Dobyns Rods. I can't speak on the Fenwicks, never used one. Sorry You are absolutely right on that one, the tip heavy part that is. My Powell flippin stick is actually lighter than my previous Fenwick flippin stick but you can't tell do to the Powell being tip heavy!
  13. Hope so! Hey i copied you and got the yellow cool foot like yours. I was going to get red to match the back 1/2 of my boat but i decided to color match the MinnKota letters instead. ;D
  14. I would first try to slow roll a spinner bait in shad patterns. Also, definitely drop shot em too! GOOD LUCK
  15. Yeah i saw that but it lists both I and II. It doesn't specify either. I called MinnKota but there reps are useless! One told me no weedless wedge II and one said yes. BPS also said yes. I sure wish i knew which one it is before i get it.
  16. Question, does the Edge model i got come with the weedless wedge II or just the original one?
  17. Big BassGuy, I don't suppose the pedal came that way from MinnKota? That looks dam cool man! How did you paint it? Tackle Warehouse, its called CoolFoot, comes in many different colors. Scroll to the bottom of this page. http://www.***.com/catpage-TRNA.html Thanks BigBassGuy! I will call TW and add it to my order. The motor won't be shipped till Thurs any way.
  18. LOL, rub it in why don't you! ;D My bro has a new Z8 but for some reason i like these a lot better! Maybe one day bro, maybe one day!
  19. Here ya go bro! Also, keep in mind that the hook recommendations go up with bulky baits. For example, a 3/0 hook is enough for a 6" worm but you may need to go up to a 4/0 if it is a fat/bulky worm. http://www.getsomebass.com/softplasticlures.html
  20. The only time i have used a white jig is while "swimming" one with 1/2 a paddle tail swim bait trailer to simulate a bait fish. Jigs are suppose to imitate a crawdad so stick to colors that do that. BTW, bass will hit a jig even if crawdads are not present in your body of water.
  21. It is the belief that they match/blend into their environment. I have proved to myself that those colors work anywhere though. I use black/blue jigs in grass to be honest. I like the pumpkin for docks and rocks myself.
  22. I've got a 50lb Endura. Lemme know how it works! Sure thing bro!!! ;D
  23. LOL, this is a classic! I did this about a month ago and the reel slapped my glasses off my face! ;D ;D ;D
  24. I found my first boat(Stratos) while taking my girlfriend to yard sales in residential neighborhoods. So keep your eyes open where ever you go. I actually found my second and now boat going to a mom & pop bait shop to look for some lures. It was for sale by the owners son so i got a good deal! Just goes to show man.
  25. There are some great tips for you here man! I always hear that the water is no place to practice but.........to be quite honest, that is where i learned to pitch/flip. I did however practice in the backyard with my bushes, trees etc. I even used my kids trampoline to simulate a boat dock. I eventually had to stop because the neighbors were trying to Baker Act me!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
