  2. That's darn impressive for Down East Maine the first week of April. In a typical year, when is ice out? hookset
  3. Great close-ups. Beautiful pond as well. Gotta love it! I'd say in the 3lb. range, too.
  4. Flip 'em over, he's done!! fishing fiend... You'll be getting that rush every time you set the hook and the lunker bass barely budges.
  5. that one and many, many more.
  6. That there is a grown one, boys. Lunkers and LSU. Is there really anything else?
  7. Congrats. Gotta love that heavyweight head-shaking. You just know it's going to be a hawg.
  8. Some kinda cabin fever up there. You guys are hard core. I live in southern New England and it never got over 44 deg. today. I said to myself there's nobody fishin' today. Except a few Mainiacs!!
  9. .dsa, nice lunker ya got there. The underwater shot came out really clear.Makes the bass look bigger! After Easter, more photos would be good.
  10. Clarke, first of all, good job on the catching part. If those H2O lures produce, then I say all the power to them! The bass doesn't know if you spent $8 or $80 on your lure. There is a lot of peer pressure to fish the "hot new gotta have" baits. It's all marketing.
  11. Think of a swim jig as a spinnerbait w/o the blades. It shows them something diff. Great day, with more to follow I'm sure.
  12. The photo captures the tiger stripe markings of a smallmouth in stunning detail. Great focus of those mergansers on the fly. That can't be easy.
  13. Yup. those two tips exactly! Taylor-profile says your sixteen, right? By the time I was 16, I was addicted to bass fishing too. I've been sneaking up on pond bass, while wearing ONLY green shirts or jackets for 35 years. Sander313, just act like one of those snipers in the x-box games hookset on 3
  14. Yup! Like another post said, with that thickness in the back, makes me think 10-2.
  15. Big Ole Bama Hawg!
  16. Good job on the landin' a lunker technique. That's a hawg for Illinois!
  17. That's Awesome. I'm psyched for ya!! I have been to Louisiana five or six times fishing. It is my favorite place of any where I've been. I fished in Chicot Lake and it was full of cypress trees and spanish moss hanging down. Very cool.
  18. Ice, That reminds me to put those back in my finesse box. I once caught a 10lber on a plum colored Luck e Strike 4 inch french fry. I was fishing on a golf course pond down in Naples, Florida. To this day,it still stands as my PB. Regards, hookset on 3
  19. Blue Streak - gonna drift off your topic for just a second Thanks for the tip. Yeah - that Koopers perch imitation is just great...but $11.50 for a crank is above my price range (hear that bait monkey). I did just get a couple of Rapala Jointed Shad Raps from Cabelas for only $4.50 each - one was the perch color below, the other was a "hot perch" color. $4.50 I can handle ! Goose, I like that shad-rap color. I also do well with this Rapala: This is the X-Rap Version, which is more translucent.
  20. Right-on basser 89, I also use painted blades in clear water with full sun. Sometimes a real shiny silver or gold blade will spook more bass than it catches. I've been known to take a sharpie to the willow blades that will contrast the skirt and just take the shine down a little. For example: chartreuse skirt- lite purple coloring on a silver blade. citrus skirt - lit orange coloring on a gold blade. looks just like a yellow perch. Try it.
  21. Goose, check these out. It might change your lure arsenal. http://livetargetlures.com/
  22. Thanks BR members. There are some oldies but goodies that even I forgot about. Good Stuff!!!
