  1. Id say I set at 2:00 or 3:00.
  2. senok_77 said the most important part of walking. Slack line. You need slack line to make the frog walk. I get quite a few bites just chugging the joker back, without a real walk back and forth. Vary your retreive until you get what the fish like. also, if you are using braid, it should help you feel more comfortable throwing it places other things cant get too. If your line wraps, most of the time it will break the branches. So, I would suggest Braid, but I started with mono. When I was doing best with the frog on mono, I was trying to make the line make a slapping noise on the water, about 2-3 foot from top guide. I knew the line was slack when it made the slap.
  3. 90% of my casts this summer have been with a Spro Bronzeye Frog in the color Red Ear. Once you catch a fish on a Frog its hard to put it down. Ive become so much better at waiting to set the hook that I have a erally good hook up ratio now.
  4. Ive read a whole lot of good things about both of the rods you are interested in. I personally love my Veritas, but I have not had issues with blisters, or I would want a new rod as well. I would probably go with the Duckett if you like your friends rod.
  5. I throw the Broneye and the bronzeye jr on a 6'6" MH baitcast rod with a Shimano Citica and 50 lb test braid. It gives me the comfort that I can haul bass out of the weeds and slop that i typically catch the bass. Most of my bites come from a pretty steady chugging retreive. I hope you catch some fish. Frog fishing is sooo much fun!
  6. I just got a Strike King Frog, after looking at it, I like it alot, gotta try the Booyah still. Ive only really tried the Spro and Love that.
  7. Ive had same issue with a spro albino white and a green tree. It seems like certain frogs have a little something extra that fish LOVE! I dont know what it is, but the legs of my albino frog melted enough to where one of the legs was delicate enough to where that joker came off on a bite. I ended up putting some silicone skirt strips on for legs and it still gets more bites than the others! That sucker walks on any rod movement now, must be something with the new legs. I try to use it only for special occasions now
  8. where are you fishing your frogs? I have tried lilly pads, but I cannot get bit by the pads. I throw mine between bushed and weeds most of the time. I also seem to get more bites while its moving, not sitting still, so I will throw it and make 5-8 chugs before pausing for a couple (2-3 seconds) then go again with 5 or 6 chugs. Seems to work for me. I also get alot of bites in slop. If I miss a fish in the slop, I typically get another bite if I get a good cast to the same area, just work it back to where you had the last cast. I also like the slop cause it has the trail of where you have made casts.
  9. pretty sure mine was a zoom c-tail worm in pumpkin chartreuse tail
  10. Academy has Spro frogs for quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else, just wanted to throw that out there.
  11. I dont have any frogs that look as beat up as those, but I hope some of mine get there. Alot of yall are talking about repairing. I have had the legs melt so i replace them with about 15-20 strands of spinnerbait skirt and those work just as well. They seem to walk quite a bit easier too once that happens. Frog fishing is the most fun fishing in my opinion.
  12. I have about 10 Spros and one of the old Tru Tungsten frogs. I love the Spro 65. Have not used the jrs nearly as much but maybe I will start using them more. The Tru Tungsten frog is much stiffer and I do not really like it. I am interested in trying the Booyah and KVD frogs, but I have been doing really well on the Spro 65 in red ear lately.
  13. I really like Booyah. Strike King KVD and War Eagle are both good too, but a bit expensive. Terminator are nice too. But I go with Booyah most
  14. Has anyone tried this Frog? It looks enormous! I am using the regular sized Spro Frog quite a bit. Have not seen one of the King Daddys, but Im assuming the only thing that will hit it is a monster fish
  15. I have heard great things about the Customer Service, which is the reason I took a chance with the veritas. Havent had any issues yet
  16. I have a bunch of Spro frogs and have caught fish on them everywhere. i like to throw them under willows or on slop more than anywhere. I have an Old albino frog that had its legs melt so I replaced them with about 15 strands of a white spinnerbait skirt for each leg. I dont know why, but that thing will walk the dog like no other. I can jerk my rod hard or soft, doesnt matter, it walks. Catches a bunch of fish.
  17. yeah, line and lure is awesome stuff! Just started using it this year and im addicted.
  18. I use the Spro Bronzeye Frogs and have tried modifying and not modifying. After years of fishing the Frogs, the only thing I do now is cut the legs about 1/2" shorter on the bronzeye Jr. I am looking for more bites when using the Jr. and look to make the profile a bit smaller. I leave the regular size frogs as is out of the box. Frog fishing is so much fun!
  19. Ive only used the spro Bronze eye frog and love it. dont see a need for another kind.
  20. that is like a $6 spinnerbait you got for 50 cents. Good work!
  21. looks a whole lot like the zoom brush hog, which is an amazing bait, so i would try the out. I would go with green pumpkin like the others said as well. That color will work anywhere
  22. Ive seen them texas rigged on both sides and just dragged and hopped around. I think they look really good with the weight on the skirted side.
  23. that is neat. I have never thrown the motor oil color before
  24. One of my fishing partners had rods with 12# vanish and 10# Vanish. The 10# worked great, but the 12# broke and broke and broke until he finally figured it out. I think he lost at least 3 fish. I fish bass pro excel Mono or berkley Big Game Mono, except for Power Pro Braid for frogs and i do just fine.
  25. The higher quality should also add longevity to the reel
