  1. I use the lower gear ratio for deep cranking, the 6's for squarebills and everything else. If you can deep crank with what your doing, go for it.
  2. I really used my veritas like crazy last week. I LOVE IT! I dont think I can afford another right now, however, I may splurge and get another.
  3. extreme Rods don't get alot of mention on here. When mentioning rods everyone will say Carbonlite. I love my Extreme Rods. I have had one for about 10 years so far and its still going strong for me! I would say, go for it!
  4. I have a Veritas and the Revo S is a fantastic match. I would reccomend that one for sure. I have the MH veritas and it is great for 3/8 oz jigs and bigger T Rigs like a 1/4 oz with a Brush hog. Using my Revo S, it looks great and works better.
  5. Its the only braid I use
  6. I have had 2 extreme reels. One broke about a year and a half after i bought it, the other has been around for about 3 years. They are not bad reels. Pretty smooth. I dont use mine a whole lot, but when I do use it, its very solid and works pretty well. Most everyone on here will tell you to go with the Pro Quailifier, but I would not shy away from the extreme if it feels good in your hands. not a bad reel. As for the Extreme Rods, I love them. I have quite a few Extreme Rods and I am considering getting another
  7. I just got back from a 4 day fishing trip and we were pitching and flipping about 98% of the time. I used my new 7' MH Abu Veritas with my new Revo S and loved every minyte of it. I would reccomend the Veritas.
  8. good to know about the smell. I will take mine out tomorrow morning and be sure to put some scent on them
  9. The only Screw lock hooks I have are either too big for the 4" or the gap just seems way way to small. I guess I will have to get back to the store to get something that looks like it will work better
  10. How do you rig these things? I have some of the Yumbrella Jig Heads, would those work? They look rad, but they are not hollow, so its got me confused on how to rig them
  11. Goose, as an art teacher, I would call the color Maroon as you said. Its a bright maroon. I also like the dark color of the bionic blade, but the brighter colors are more eye catching, so all these rods and reels will be bright for a while. The color is the thing that does not bother me, but the flat paint on reels is what kills me. I can not stand the feeling on my hands. I need a glossy paint. Great review of the rod!
  12. I think it will be fine. mine had to have been previously damaged to snap on the first cast. I got 2 others that are just fine
  13. I was at the Springfield MO Bass Pro and they had a couple hundred of last years model of Bionic Blade and I remember seeing some pistol grips. Maybe shoot them an email and they can hook you up. Bionic Blades are not bad rods at all.
  14. They dont have the survey up right now.
  15. I remember my first jig bass. I remember the jig and place I caught it. Now its one of my confidence baits. COngrats. Keep it up!!
  16. would taht work for senkos?
  17. I have heard that people love the Revo SX. I have also heard about carrot sticks breaking quite a bit. They say the best way to get in touch with e21 (the carrot stick makers) is through facebook, incase you have any issues. I think they were bought out recently and I believe new managament is better.
  18. I love my Revo S. If you want a Left handed retrieve I would think about the citica. I have an old citica (its a really large reel) so I dont think I can really vouch for the new ones, but Shimano seems to be a solid brand. All I am interesed in right now are revos though. I would go to bass pro if possible to try to see how they would feel on the rod you will use.
  19. I really like the Revo Winch. That reel caused me to get 2 more revos
  20. you tried a hollow bodied frog? It may be something the fish are not use to seeing. Big fish love the frog
  21. I would try them out before trimming anything. Some people will cut one leg an inch shorter than another. If I am having trouble with walking the dog I will trim both legs an inch shorter. experiment yourself before cutting though. You can always cut later, the legs wont grow back. When trying to walk the dog, the key is slack in the line. YOu can walk it with a popper, but I find it to be a bit tougher than with a regular frog. always remember the slack line though. That is the biggest thing for you.
  22. some people say that the baits that have paint falling off are better than the ones with a fresh coat of paint. If they are still catching fish, there may be something about the way it moves that is just a little different than others. A fresh coat of paint may mess that little thing up. Or I could be completely off.
  23. I dont think there will be much diffference, but With those two I would probably go with the Trion because it has so many really good reviews on basspro.com. I would consider going a little smaller possibly. What do you plan on throwing? If I were getting a Trion, I would get the 3.5 over the 4. A big spinning reel will wear you out pretty quick.
  24. I really like the Bass Pro Extreme Rods, but dont see them mentioned on here very often. I have used many and they are nice strong, sensitive, and reliable rods. And actually, they are on sale now for $70 instead of $100. I have heard good things about the Carbonlite rods, but from the way I am seeing things, carbon rods are lighter weight, but they seem to break quite a bit more than graphite. As for reels, If you are looking to try to stay around $130, you need to look at the Pflueger President. My fishing partner has about 6 of them and loves them. Actually, now that I think about it, he uses that combo of an extreme rod and pflueger president reel for his senkos. You should think about going medium instead of Medium Light. I can cast the snot out of an 1/8 oz shakey head or a senko on a medium action rod. I would be concerned of breakage with a ML, especially with a carbon built rod. Just my opinion
