  1. I typically throw any plastic I would use in the day, but in a darker color. I did really well a few weeks ago with a June Bug Rage Lobster
  2. Chompers jigs have an EWG hook. I love jigs with the EWG hooks, I hope you can figure it out
  3. Ok fellas, I have been out of my lure making for a while now. I have tried to make some Poppers which looked ok. I have tried to make my own designs, which included a frog (Which I think was pretty awesome) a snake (Which had an awesome action) And a few other things. I graduated from college with a degree in Art Education, so I had the opportunity to use the sculpture lab with all kinds of saws and sanders and files and all kinds of cool things. Now that I am no longer in school, I dont have the opportunity to use the tools. So, after that background knowledge, here we go... I am looking to make some poppers and maybe some frog lures that walk the dog. What kind of wood do you all reccomend? A CHEAP dremel tool is all I have, so it doesnt have too much power or attachments to go with it. I was thinking probably Balsa Wood. Previously I have made a through wire becuase i thought the screw eyes would pull out of the soft balsa wood. Also, because I couldn't find any small screw eyes. Is this necessary or will screw eyes work? Im sure I will have another question pretty soon, but this is all I can think of right now.
  4. What kind of wood did you use for the Popper?
  5. If you dont mind working on it a bit, you can use two of the tennis racket handle wraps and make it look like one. I have bought the three packs at walmart for about $3 and I can get 2 rods wrapped easily.
  6. I have a pretty decent backpack that has enough room for 2 big plano boxes, a gallon size ziplock bag full of plastics, tools, a waterbottle and whatever else i need, whether its a camera, long sleeve shirt, bug spray, All taht otehr stuff. It makes it really easy to carry around and if you need a cooler, you can have a cooler in one hand and the rods in another
  7. Mono= Trilene Big Game or Bass Pro Excel Flouro- Bass Pro Flouro Braid- Power Pro
  8. That looks awesome! Stoked. ANy idea of when they will be available?
  9. i would probably do the green pumpkin chigger craw
  10. looks like i will have to try to bend them again. I want that good hook up ratio
  11. Texas Rigged Brush Hog in Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red, or Watermelon Candy. Always seems to work, probably cause I throw it more than anything else. Jigs are growing into my Go To or Confidence bait though.
  12. im afraid when I use braid if I set it into a stump and I start pulling hard enough that bait will come back at me like a rocket. Makes me nervous. I only use braid for my frog fishing, but I try to set it pretty tough
  13. This is actually what I was going to suggest. I have the MH and its pretty stiff. The Medium seems like it would be perfect for a rod that can do darn near anything. If you were looking to use it more for jigs and plastics, I would probably go with the MH, but a Medium would be better for spinnerbaits and the more versitile rod all around.
  14. I tried to bend some one time and its hard as heck! Those hooks are SOLID!

A bunch of people on here use it. I just got one and put some Havoc sick fish on it. Dont know when i will try it, but it will find its way on a rod sometime
  16. I have probably caught more fish on a brush hog and Baby Brush Hog than any other bait. I started off with the baby brush hog and you can catch big or small fish on that bait. With a 2/o hook and a 3/16 oz weight T-Rigged you can catch a bunch of fish. I have done really well on the full size as well. With a 4 or 5/o hook and a 5/16 oz wieght T-Rigged you can beast the fish. My most productive colors are by far Green Pumpkin, Green Pumpkin Purple, Watermelon Red, and Watermelon Candy and watermelon Purple. I have also caught fish with these on the shakey head and Carolina Rig. The Zoom Bursh hog is by far my favorite creature bait.
  17. Ive found quite a few crank baits in garage sale tackle boxes. I also found a bunch of zoom lizards in one. You can get some rad deals.
  18. My Uncle had a fish break the line on an old wiggle wart. He said it was a Giant. Next day went back to same spot put another wiggle wart on in same color and after a few casts caught the same fish. It was 7+ pounds. He knew it was the same fish cause he got his first wiggle wart back. I dont know how long it will take to get the fish to bite again, but eventually it will. Go back to that spot and catch that joker!
  19. Academy has their H2O Xpress Mettle on sale for $39.99. and they have the 7' MH H2O Express Ethos rod for $59.99. I have heard great things about both of them. those would give you a solid rod and reel. They also have All Star Rods for $29.99 which isnt a bad buy either.
  20. White acrylic paint could work as well. just put it on with a Q-tip
  21. Spro frog in Albino White and green tree. I guess I need to try the all black. Thick slop is my best place to catch them on frogs. I try to make the line slap the slop and I feel like that is when I catch most of my fish. Recently started throwing them everywhere and liking it alot.
  22. I would go with a spinnerbait or T-Rig. A spinnerbait will allow you to cover alot of water and move much faster. I would start with either some of the $1 spinnerbaits from Walmart or a booyah 1/4 or 3/8 oz tandem Chartreuse white spinnerbait. You should be able to catch some fish with those. I would also look at getting some baby brush hogs, lizards, and or 7" ribbon tail worms. You can use 2/o or 3/o gamakatsu ewg hook with a 3/16 oz bullet weight with those. Drag those, hop them, or even swim them. You don't need to be as patient because you move the bait quite a bit more and dont have to wait as much as you will have to with a senko. You could also consider getting a Hollow Bodied frog. I like the albino Spro Bronze eye frog. It is a good bait to throw around cover because it wont get hung up and seeing a bass come up and destroy a topwater bait is fun.
  23. I would also look at trying the 7" ribbontail worm or a baby brush hog
  24. With a heavy rod, I would look at getting some baits like the Zoom Brush Hog, Rage Tail smokin Rooster, Rage Lobster, Rage anaconda. You could use a 4/O or 5/O hook with any of these. If you are using smaller baits like a Baby Brush Hog, Lizard, rage craw, Zoom U-Tail worm, I would downgrade to a 2/o or 3/o hook. Smaller baits will be tough to throw on the Heavy rod but you could go down to the 1/o. If you throw a hook that is too big, it may hinder the action of the bait.
  25. I just got a spool of 8 lb XL to give it a go and got a snag and straightend my hook out. I am very happy with it. Probably a bad spool of it you had. Its annoying, but it happens. If you havent had problems with Stren, that is what I would buy
