  1. It will work anywhere you would throw a spinnerbait or swim jig. I like to run them down edge of laydowns. I think chartreuse white or black blue would work best in stained water and I typically use a steady retrieve with varying speeds. I have heard some people say that they hop them and crawl them back like a jig too. If you caught 2 nice fish, I would just continue as you were
  2. try using a heavier jig maybe. Since you have so much more momentum on a cast than a pitch, the bait will gomuch much further even if the bait is a bit light. a heavier jig/bullet weight may help quite a bit. Just a thought before respooling.
  3. I did the first one for looks and had to do all the rest cause I liked it so much. I only do it on my corked rods. I dont think I will do the foam handles. They dont get as slick or need the padding.
  4. Does anyone else use a rod wrap on their rod handles? I always saw them at Bass Pro and they were so dang expensive. Anyway, I went out and got some Wilson Ultra Wrap for tennis rackets. I got 2 packs of 3 for the same as one rod wrap. Some handles are a little too big for one, but you can split the rest of it on multiple rods. I think it feels much more comfortable when fishing all day, I can still feel all the bites and I think it looks pretty cool.
  5. 2" chartreuse curly tail grub on a 1/16 oz jig head
  6. If you don't like the feeling, you should get some Wilson over grip for tennis rackets. At walmart you can get 3 rolls for $2.99 and it is awesome. I have it on all of my cork handles. YOu get a good grip, even in the rain. Its alot cheaper than a rod wrap and I think it probably works just as well. It also looks pretty rad. And when you take it off, its not sticky on the cork. Just an idea if you are not liking the feeling.
  7. Yum Sooie. Caught me a bunch of fish
  8. an hour and a half away for me, but I have been trying to go at least once a month
  9. This is the reason I do not want to take a reel apart to give it a rad paint job. Im afraid I will screw it up too much
  10. I got some lizards as well. $2.99 for Brush Hogs and $5.99 for Spro Bronzeye Frogs is pretty solid too
  11. What kind of wire do you use to tie? I have been using thread because I dont know the kind or size of wire to use
  12. I use a 6'6" Berkley Lightning Rod. It was a cheap rod that is pretty heavy, but its a stiff MH. I got it cause I had one more reel than rod and didnt want to pay much. Anywho, I find the 6'6" rod to work just fine and think its easier to walk the dog with the shorter rod. I fish the frog while walking the bank more than in the boat and I find it way easier to navagate the shorter rod while walking the bank. I dont think you need a high priced really sensitive rod for frogging. I figure, if this Lightning Rod snaps, its not a huge deal cause it was pretty cheap.
  13. You can't go wrong either way. I got the Revo S because I like how solid an older Revo felt and I am really happy with it. Feels solid, smooth, I can pitch awesome with it. I love it and wouldnt go any other way. That being said, you will find a bunch of people who will say the same thing about the Citica. Like others said, you should put the reels on the rod you will use to try them out.

Thats wicked! Let me know if it works cause I may need to make one
  15. What kind of hook are you useing? If you are not using a wide gap with a thick bait, there may not be enough gap to effectively hook the fish
  16. I dont have any Heavy rods. I throw my frogs on an old 6'6" MH Berkley Lightning Rod. Its a heavy weighted stiff rod that I only use for frogs because its really not that sensitive and wouldnt feel comfortable using it on much more except maybe an alabama rig. I dont see the rod as being nearly as important as it is fro jigs, plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits, but that may be just me.
  17. BigAL, I would go with more than 12# Mono. You can throw the Spro Frogs anywhere without getting Hung up cause of the weedless design. Therefor, your line is going to get beaten up pretty easily if you are doing this. I switched to 50-65# braid because it can hold up to the wear and tear. The fish you will catch on Frogs typically are of good size and losing a big fish stinks hardcore. I would go with at least 17-20 lb mono if you are throwing the frog on mono. If you really wanna throw on the 12# I would be feeling the first few feet of line every few castts to make sure there are no gashes in it. Just my thought. I would also suggest the 7-7'6" MH rod
  18. Ive never had an issue with Big Game. I think its a pretty good cheap mono.
  19. Those suckers are BIG! 2 oz bait. I dont think my crankbait rod can handle it. Most fish will be monsters that bite it
  20. Aquatic Ninja, that would make an awesome name of spinnerbait or Soft Plastic. You need to get with Big O and have that be the name of the next Rage Tail bait
  21. I was considering getting one, but I don't think I will anymore. I have two Daiwa Excellors and they are pretty dang nice. I dont think I will get another spinning rod/reel for a little bit though.
  22. I like mine, but i have only used it for some small farm pond fishing so far. Paired with my Revo S, I can cast and pitch further than anything else I have. I would suggest it. And like someone else said, there is good customer service and a 3 year warrenty. It is a bit stiffer than other rods I have used, but I like the way the 7' MH feels for jigs. Feels just about perfect. Im going to tournament fish with it soon, so I hope it will hold up to the all day tournament use. I have heard great things about many different rods in the same price range as well. Its going to be up to you. I decided on mine becuase I wanted the Revo S reel. They pair up perfectly and the customer service + 3 year warrenty are the other things that sold me. If a $100 rod holds up for 3+ years and does what its suppose to do, it was worth it. One dude at Bass Pro was telling me that when he uses his he loosens his drag a bit becuase they dont have as much give as other rods
  23. Im thinking I may get one next year. Got a Revo S this year. Its gonna be hard to pull away from the Revos. but I hear ALOT of awesome stuff about the Lews
  24. Awesome! I think I like the 2nd quite a bit!
