  1. They are not, they are what you described...plastic craws. Now Hale's is called a "craw worm", Gene Larew's is called a Hawg Craw. I throw everything from Zoom's 3.5" Ultravibe Speed Craw to 6-7" craws of a couple brands.

The Texas Rig & Jig-n-Craw are arguably the #1 & #2 most productive lures in whichever order you put them in. Why would you not want to throw both? I have a Texas Rig & Jig-n-Craw tied on 24/7/365! @Pat Brown there are days when one or the other will be more productive. When I fish an area with a Texas Rig first I follow up with a Jig-n-Craw or vice a versa. A lot of times my Texas Rig is are craw worms of some type.

  4. Calcutta: solid as an anvil, versatile as a pair of Channellocks®, & dependable as a 30/30

  6. Same thing when working heavy cover, use your rod tip to direct the spinnerbait around & through cover. You answered that part, why should I repeat it?
  7. Speed of retrieval + rod tip position = depth of lure.
  8. Graphite framed reels get a bad reputation for no reason...there I said it. Na, na-na, boo-boo! Lew's LFS, best reel on the market in that price range. Lew's Tournament MP, rock solid work horse, capable of doing anything you want. Lew's Tournament Lite LFS, 5.3 ozs ?
  9. Bout two months now, shallow water marshes, water temperatures about 55.
  10. Most of the fish I catch I don't see on my electronics. I see structure, I see hard spots, I see cover, I see baitfish. Drop shot can be used for flipping-n-pitching, not only covering water but doing it effectively.
  11. A question out of curiosity. Do y'all use electronics to find fish or do y'all just randomly cover water with "search" baits?

I have many times over the years but sadly the #1 source Lake Caster magazine is no longer available on line. You're looking at national tournament trails, there are at least 35 local tournaments held yearly with 200-250 boats per tournament.

Over a 4 year time frame on Toledo Bend 60 times it took a 25#+ sack to win.

Y'all are misunderstanding what I meant by "average". Historical data will show a 25# sack on this lake or Rayburn for that matter is the average winning weight. If ya can't put together a 25# sack on this lake you will struggle tournament fishing. I've seen/have weighed in 20#+ sacks & not cut a check.
  16. What do the bass want? If they're chewing a lipless, guess what I'm throwing! My thought process is hook em first, then figure out how land em.

I recently watched Ben's interview on Fish the Moment. Structure fishing 101! Main lake wind blown clay points, Threadfin spawn early in the morning & Gizzard spawn later in the morning. Most productive technique Carolina Rigged lizard, who'd thunk! He's was doing everything we preached here for years. Go look a our thread, So Y'all want to learn Toledo Bend. Detailed the exact places he was fishing doing exactly what he was doing. As for all the Locals, y'all got it handed to y'all on your body of water using standard operating procedures. To add to what locals would have lost besides a months wages. The ability to fish other tournament's. Yes we have tournaments that pay more than 50k. I won almost 40k for one 14" tagged fish. Check out McDonald's Big Bass Splash put on by Sealy Outdoors, they give away millions yearly.

Week later I can almost stand up straight, walking is slow & deliberate. There's still those occasional some beach, some where moments.

My neurosurgeon is one of the top in the world. The ruptured disc are Lumbar L3, L4, & L5, along with torn ligaments in the same area. There is also sever nerve damage in my right hip. Repetition! according my doctor I simply wore it out working construction. I tried steroid injections 4 times, the first one worked for a couple months, after that they didn't last a week. I'm trying my best to avoid pain meds & surgery. The physical pain is difficult but the mental aspect is probably more difficult. Thanks y'all ?
  21. I've dealt with ruptured discs, torn ligaments, & nerve damage since 2008. Saturday for whatever reason the pain decided to elevate to an entirely new level. I'm having difficulty standing up straight, walking is close to unbearable. For those of y'all with questions pending, hold on, I'll be back.
