While I don't particularly care for site fishing my #1 bait for late pre-spawn to early post spawn bass is a Texas Rigged Lizard.
  2. While Russ if a fine nomination I think the first BR Elite-member profile should Glenn
  3. At 56 years old I remember the 1960 NFL Championship Game, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers. I have seen some of the greatest games and player in the history of Professional Football but if Bret Farve isn't the greatest player ever I don't know who is. I don't mean just at quarterback but as an all around player there is no one who plays for the pure enjoyment of the game. If he ends up playing the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas next week where he hasn't won since his rookie year I'll still take Farve.
  4. Gray the rules 1. The female is always right. 2. The rules are subject to change at any time. 3. No male can possibly know all the rules. 4. The female is never wrong. 5. The female can change her mind at any given time. 6. The male must never change his mind without the consent the female. 7. The female has every right to be angry at any time. 8. The male must remain calm at all times. 9. If the female has PMS all rules are null and void. 10. If two females have different opinions, they're both right.
  5. The problem most people have with fishing deep structure is converting a 1 dimensional image on a depth finder screen into a 3 dimensional image in their brain. For some people it's really easy while others simply don't get it. 3D imaging and side imaging causes that little light bulb to finally click on.
  6. Cajuns in Iraq no wonder the violence has dropped off
  7. Petey boy better stay at USC where he can hide behind the PAC-10; his combined NFL record as head coach was 33-31. New England finished with a 106 record and took first place in the AFC East. The Patriots defeated the Miami Dolphins 173 at home in the opening round of the playoffs before losing against the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 76. In the 1998 season, the Patriots finished 97 and lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the playoffs. A subpar 1999 season followed in which the Patriots jumped to a 6-2 record but collapsed after their bye week to finish 8-8. The second half of the season resulted in Carroll's firing. After Carroll left the Pats won 3 Super Bowls and went 16-0 this year under Bill Belichick.
  8. Braided line wrapped around the tip of any rod could break it; I really don't worry about what might happen.
  9. There's duck season There's goose season There's deer season There's football season Fishing season there aint no such thing
  10. Yup, it's a back and forth debate. Zillions are equal in price to the Curado's and Chronach's, but they weigh a lot more. Calais are way more. The Sol vs. Chronarch mg and Curado 100 tend to be a wash, though the mg is light for the price. The 2 less bearings on the Shimano's is concerning too. I can see between 6 and 8, but between 4 and 6 screams "bushings in key area's". Like the worm....[/quote] That's funny right there I don't care who you are, I fish with Calcutta's which only have 3 ball bearings and don't have any problems landing big fish in both fresh or salt water. So how is this a disadvantage?
  11. Try comparing the zillion, fuego, sol to Curado, Chronarch, & Calais

  13. Y'all are aware that conifers (Christmas) trees contain turpentine which isn't exactly a fish attractant. I've fished Toledo Bend since 1972 when there were still trees with leaves on them; the last trees to hold fish were the conifers. Every Crappie angler on the Bend sets out brush piles and every last one of them use hard woods of some kind with willow being the #1 choice. One would ask why place brush pile on the Bend when it's already full of trees? The smaller branches have long since rotted away leaving only the branches in the 2 diameter are larger. Adding trees with small braches offer hiding places for minnows and other small bait fish which in turn attacks large fish. When I fish boat dock I usually don't target the dock itself but rather look for signs that show the owners are crappie anglers insuring a brush pile is within casting distance.
  14. You will need to buy a trailer anyway; then call a Hot Shot Service they will delivery it any where in the USA; it will also cost you to have it loaded on the trailer.
  15. I have complete records of every fishing trip since 1972; it's just something I like to do and has become very helpful when planning a spur of the monument trip. I have these records in both Micro Soft Word and Excel; with Excel I can sort by any tangible and come up with a solution. Thank Y'all for the complements
  16. When you decide be sure to use at least .125 thickness you'll avoid a lot of oil can effect
  17. I probably own less tackle than anyone on this web site but will match my accomplishments with anyone under any conditions. While I have my personal favorite lures I firmly believe finding the bass is the key to catching them. Here are a couple simple quotes to keep in mind It takes a rare breed of fisherman using simple techniques to perfection to consistently catch big bass. Doug Hannon You can't catch em if they aint there Elwood L. " Buck" Perry The #1 key to consistently catching bass is between your ears not between the folds of your wallet. Catt

  21. Last year my time on the water was greatly limited but for what ever reason I was on big fish all year starting with a personal best back in February of 12 lbs. 8 oz. I think it was a combination of limited time on the water and the fact Toledo Bend was 15' low for almost a year before returning to normal. My limited time on the water had me relaxed and concentrating harder while the low water concentrated the big bass. 22. Not only are hook ups increased but with a straight shank hook you worm will slide up the line separating the weight from the hook which doesn't allow the bass to use the added weight to throw the hook.
  23. This is the way Shaw Grigsby put it to me, its call the three tap theory. The first tap the bass has inhaled your bait The second tap the bass has exhaled your bait The third tap I'm tapping you on the shoulder asking you why you didn't set hook! Drop the rod, reel the slack, & set the hook
