Ohio State Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines
PAC 10 Standings Over All USC 9-1 California 8-3 Oregon State 7-4 Oregon 7-4 UCLA 6-5 Arizona 6-5 Washington State 6-6 Arizona State 6-5 Washington 5-7 Stanford 1-10 You don't even want to look at conference play it gets even uglier with seven out of ten at or below 500. USC plays three non-conference games two of which were ranked at the start of the year, their conference games are their weakness. Come on Stanford is not a 1-A team I know high schools that can beat them and their only win was over Washington.

High Tech vs. Low Tech, my last tournament
Traditionally speaking August nights on Toledo Bend are balmy to hot with southerly winds 5 to 8 mph, clear skies, & temperatures in the upper 80s at night. This past week tempetures in the Dallas / Fort Worth area averaged 105 degrees with heat the index reaching 115. But this weekend was completely different with a northern front moving in on Friday, winds shifted north to northeast 15 to 20 with gust to 30. Pat Miller and I arrived at the Sportsman's Marina & Caf é, checked into our room, and then made our way to the caf é for an early supper. The guys sitting across from us were discussing different high tech tactics of boats, tackle, and the like. One leaned our way asking if we were going to night fish, we shook our heads yes and continued to eat. I over heard words of needing more entries fees and us being easy marks, so the same guy asks if we would like to fish their club tournament. After finishing supper and ordering to go bags for later, we joined the others at their table. When they were through trying to pick our brains, we decided to meet them at the Six-Mile boat ramp. When we arrived at exactly 7:00, there were some very strange looks and mumbling under their breath. It seems I forgot to mention my 16' modified "V" aluminum boat. With this strange weather, the bass had a classic case of lockjaw but we managed to land 3 keepers on Friday night. Although we were discouraged, we headed to the weigh in, only to find no one else had a weighable fish. Now all the strange looks were for a different reason, these guys in the tin boat could catch fish. Saturday night's results were even worse with us catching only 1 keeper and a 4 bass total weighing 10 lb. 2 oz., enough for first place overall. The point is every thing is not what it appears! The guys we met were all cut from the same mold; you know the type, fairly new pickup, new boat with all the right high tech gear, dressed in Columbia Sports Wear, talking the bassin game. As for Pat & me a 99 Nissan 4 cyl pickup, aluminum boat with only a 40 hp Tohatsu, trolling motor & depth finder, hardly talking at all. If you met the two groups who would you think could catch fish? These guys thought Pat & I could not catch simply because of appearance! After the weigh in they were talking to the owner of the marina who promptly informed them they were just whipped by probably the best tag team to fish this lake.

Ohio State Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines
USC played Arkansas on September 2nd at that time they were unranked and a very young team with only 7 seniors on the roster. If USC play Arkansas today you think the out come would be 50-14? Not to worry cause LSU will hand the Hogs their second lose I'm not sure who should play OSU for the title; Florida had a very easy schedule Michigan's schedule is above average Wisconsin Huh Notre Dame I don't think their that good Boise State I'd like to see them in a different conference Well it's up to the BCS any way

Re: Cold weather fishing- glove suggestions
I can find gloves that keep my hands warm; I just can't fish with them on The major problem with cold in Southeast Texas & Southwest Louisiana is when it's 35 degrees outside; there is about 95% humidity in the air. From mid December through March is our rainy season and if you are gonna fish plan on getting wet. Then add wind chill from north/northwest winds and running a boat at 50 to 60 mph you'll get a chill to the bone.

Rod For Shimano Calcutta?
I will not buy a rod if I can't put my reel on it and string up the lure I plan using on it. I get some mighty strange looks from the store employees but that's too bad so sad.

Trolling Motor Vibration
Vibration at any depth is unacceptable Like avid said in wind you'll need to lower it & then what deal with a vibration? I don't think so That vibration at any depth aint normal sounds like you have a bent prop shaft so why fish defective equipment, trade in.

Need advice for this time of year.
You're welcome The hardest part when fish aint biting is keeping a positive attitude, you lose your concretion, & start fishing faster. You might think Senko or Wacky

Need advice for this time of year.
As I stated quit changing lures so often, all that does is shake your confidence, and make you want to change even more. What I do is to fish a Texas Rig because that is what I have the most confidence in, I'll have 2 set ups one with a craw worm & one with a creature. Fish real slow!!!
