Cold weather fishing- be prepared
*Winter, spring, summer, or fall always tell someone where you are going, & when to expect you back. *To retain body heat, keep your kidney area & head warm *Alcohol will not keep you warm *Playing Mr. Macho with cold water can get you killed!

Differences in high and low priced fish finders?
LCD's & Flashers are not fish finders, the rod & reel in your hand is a fish finder never confuses the two. I pay absolutely no attention to the fish symbols on the screen, 90% of the time I catch fish when the screen shows no fish at all.

Mostly for New Members
Excellent again I also keep information on a micro soft word document, along with every trip I've made since 1973. I get madder than a wet hen at people telling younger/inexperienced anglers they have to have all the high end products or they can't catch fish. There are lots of guys here that bank fish or fish from jon boats that are very productive. The key to consistently catching fish is not found in a rod, reel, boat, or bait; it's in knowledge and wisdom. The knowledge is found in this web site, you just need the wisdom to take this knowledge and apply it. Sorry RW I just needed to vent a little pressure Tommy T.

Local Super Bowl Champs
I was fortunate enough to send all my kids to a private school in Lake Charles, Louisiana. While they have received an excellent education at this school it hurts their ability to play college sports because private schools sports get little recognition. But I'll take education and family values over sports any day. Tommy T

Differences in high and low priced fish finders?
BASS fisherman #1: Lowrance Cuda $69.99, I have the EX slightly large screen still under $100 #2: Hummingbird 525 $129.99 I like the quick disconnect of these units. I have the 535 #3: Garmin 140 $119.99, no longer have it but had no problems I see no need for high dollar units when all I want are the 3 items on your list. Depth finders are tools required far locating structure and cover on said structure. Some argue the high end units give you better details, I say details of what, if its 10' foot deep its 10' deep.

trolling for Bass
Avid, The distance behind the boat is a judgmental call; take the distance of your longest cast and add another 1/3 to 1/2 of that distance. Had to talk to some salt water guys far that tip, hope it helps. Tommy T.

You guys aint listening the wife will not be fishing! That means I'll be losing money at the local shops Wife hates cold so the trip will be in late spring to early fall We send a week just south of Mansfield Ohio, we both like it, and so what larger city would you recommend near the lake. We have been to Nashville Tennessee; it's that near Dale Hollow?

Texas Rig Old School
When to set hook This is the way Shaw Grimsby put it to me, its call the three tap theory. The first tap the bass has inhaled your bait The second tap the bass has exhaled your bait The third tap I'm tapping you on the shoulder asking you why you didn't set hook! Drop the rod, reel the slack, & set the hook

Texas Rig Old School
Dink, I do the same maybe I should add #11 Senile1, my father-in-law taught me this technique back in 1972, 34 yrs later I still use it, & still catch. If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you always got

*Sigh*...Here we go...again...
Hung in there dude it'll get better 2002 Reduction In Force after 9 ½ years with Northrup/Grumman & six months before retirement 2003 back into construction self employed December 2004 contractor I was subcontracting from took the money & ran September 2005 hurricane Rita December 20th 2005 on my birthday hurt my back on a construction site 2006 has been a string of small jobs with layoffs in between, lost my boat (that hurt). But I'm still smiling cause I know God will provide! Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Philippians 4:11

Opinions on the Following rigs, Please!
What I'm gonna say will start an argument but here goes, anything over 18' is simply bragging. A smooth ride in rough water is accomplished by the driver not the boat plan and simple. I fish Toledo Bend out of an 18' Skeeter and if it's to ruff for an 18' a couple more feet will not help.

I have driven/fished both boats and this is my comparison. Design & Construction: Both rates excellent Layout & Room: Above average (6 is no big deal) Attention to detail: Both good Rough water ride: Edge to the Stratos Outboard: Evinrude E-TEC
