  1. I not a big senko fan but the times I've caught on them the water temperature was in the mid-forties.
  2. I shoot ducks/geese with an Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight pump 12 ga. Chambered for 2 3/4 and #2 steel shot.
  3. K_Mac, I not saying there is anything bad with high tech while my boats were small the electronics and my equipment are high tech. The guys who invited us to fish their tournament thought based on appearance we were easy marks, even more so after seeing my boat. This post was not meant as a cut on tournament anglers but there are those who believe that if you don't fit a certain preconceived mold you can't catch fish. For instance if they were to see Fish Chris or Low_Budget_Hookers they would based solely on their appearance these guys can not catch bass let along big bass. It goes back to that old saying Never judge a book by it's cover even if the book is low or high tech.
  4. I use a jig to fish deep water structure so I cast more than flipping/pitching and my retrieval is exactly as RoLo described. After the jig has settled back to the bottom I'll shake it in place like one would while flipping/pitching. On the opposite side I throw Black/Blue, Black Neon (Red), or Junebug/Blue 95% of the time. Weight wise it depends on the depth of the water, 1/4 to 3/8 for 15' or less, 3/8 to 3/4 for 15' & over. Thick grass regardless of depth 5/8 to 3/4. Trailers: Gene Larew Salty Hawg Craws in 6, 5, & 4 matching the jig colors

That's a Bass Hole if I ever saw one 8-)
  6. I've never owned a big boat, even when I tournament fished every week during the 70's and 80's it was out of a 16' bass boat with a 70 hp Evinrude. We had what was called Shot Gun Starts where every one launched their boat and some one at the marina fired a starter's pistol. Talk about a sight 40 or 50 boats roaring up Lowe's Creek headed for the main lake, all but 1 that is, I would flip my trolling motor into the water and start fishing at the marina. Pat and I won many tournaments out of Fin & Feather, Fox's, and Vaughn's K & K marinas out his 15' Alumaweld flat with a 25 hp Suzuki or my 16' Alweld with a 40 hp Tohatsu.
  7. Which is preferred and why? Front drag or Rear drag :-/

Every vacation mamma let's me bring my tackle and I'll slip off and get in a couple hours in. But next year she said we could plan a trip around me going fishing just no wilderness trips.
  9. Mine stay cocked, locked, & ready to rock They are strapped together with 2 Velcro straps, standing in their own little corner with my tackle boxes and a packed overnight bag.
  10. I believe the term jack potters applies to local anglers who register on tournament day with only one thought in mind easy winnings. We on the other hand were invited to fish their tournament with the sole intention of being an easy prey.
  11. This could go one for ever! As I've stated earlier it's about money, all power house teams schedule non-conference games with one thought in mind wins. Division 1-A teams schedule Division 1-AA teams so the little schools have a chance to make money. I believe that TV networks should schedule more Division 1-AA games, heck I'm a football fan so if it's a good game I don't care whose playing I would watch. I also believe there is too much emphasis put on going undefeated, a lot of 1 & 2 lose teams could beat OSU. Look at the NFL only one team ever went undefeated and they have had numerous Super Bowl Champions who had 4 or 5 losses. We need a college playoff system period, then and only then can a true champion be determined.
  12. Some times my fingers type faster than my brain :-/
  13. Ok I re-read it was originally a center console? I've done several rebuilds and I can tell you that's a fine one, lots of attention to details. Personally I would have welded every thing and use sheet aluminum instead of plywood. What color you gonna paint it?
  14. What Huh Does someone want to challenge the Catt?
  15. I could be mistaken but it looks like a Fish Hawk was it tan in color? That looks like the original Evinrude or Johnson 50/55 hp? I can get the picture to enlarge so it's hard see details
  16. Outstanding Dude It that a Fish Hawk model?
  17. Ok here's the scenario There is a prototype out and it's a replica of a bass 2 ½ to 3' in length, the eyes are equipped with aqua-view cameras that are night vision and infra-red capable. It emits sounds via BioSonix, GPS tracked, and nuclear powered so there is no need for batteries. They will be computer controlled from a console in the cab of your truck so you can sit in comfort at the launch. After navigating around until you locate a world class bass you can pick from a wide array of lures up to and including Hell Fire Missiles for those cases when your tournament opposition moves in on your structure. Either that are we can just put on scuba gear equipped with tasers
  18. We have 5.3 now we need 6.0 8-)

We have been to the Opry Mills Mall and the BPS, heck I loved that mall Dale Hollow & Percy Priest is bass fishing legends can't wait to wet in a hook em. My have to look up riskkid and roadwarrior! Sorry every one else but when on vacation mama rules
  20. I have very limited experience with this end of the Shimano spectrum, my wife bought me a Chronarch when they first came out, and after one trip to the lake I returned it. The reel worked flawlessly I just don't like low profile reels so I traded it for a Calcutta. Got a buddy who has an even dozen Calais they are unbelievable but his pay code is way higher than mine. It's kinda like Ford vs. Mercury vs. Lincoln
  21. Chickahominy that has to be one of the coolest names far a place to fish 8-) Typical cold water bite, not many but nice ;D
  22. Reflexivly Glad we aint playing Scrabble cause I'd have to challenge Y'all ever have a bass just knock the snot out of your worm nearly taking the rod out of your hand and when you set hook nothing. Then you reel up nothing but a piece of worm and your hook left?
  23. Cool 8-) That's a good looking brush pile, catch any there?
  24. cravenfish, That was one of many and will not be the last
