I tie a Palomar knot with everything & have zero issues. With a Palomar knot when cinching it down you pull the main line & tag end together. If there is any resistance something is wrong! The knot should slide effortlessly! FYI: Once you pass your lure through the loop you can at this time adjust the length of the tag end. Yeah but Catt that's time consuming! When I tie a knot I'm never in a hurry, the weakest link is your knot. Whichever knot you tie take the time & do it right.

The best teacher is time on the water! Spending more time on the water ain't about learning how to fish a particular lure. It's about learning what's going on in nature!

Y'all funny ? The only thing daylight saving time changes is your clock. When it comes to hunting & fishing I don't look at a clock or calendar. Full moon to full moon is a "month". To know when sun raise is or sun set is I get outdoors. Bass don't care what a clock or calendar says. One reason most anglers/hunters never get a trophy is the6y busy looking at clocks & calendars.

My fish finder is tied to the end of my line. My sonar is a simple Humminbird Helix 5 CHIRP GPS G3 The only up grade I'm planning is a trolling motor with spot lock.

I use "worm juice" for two purposes first as a lubricant because I fish in grass a lot and the "worm juice" helps my plastic baits slide through easier. I use Baitmate (clear) with a ½ oz of 100% pure anise oil added; this is to mast any odor my plastic may have pick up. The only place y'all find 100% pure anise oil is at your local pharmacy, the rest will be 40-70% max.

Ever shoot a bow? While a broadhead doesn't cut its way out it does continue cut with every movement the animal makes. The arrow doesn't have a string pulling back against it! Lots of my buddies throw Trokar with great success but everytime I've used one I look at the "slice" made by the hook & shake my head. Like sharpening hooks, it's personal preference.

Don't know how I missed ya! February 3rd 2007 was a nasty cold morning with Northwest winds at 15-20 mph, a slight misty rain falling, and temperatures in the middle 30's. After having launched out of Jack's 944 Marina I made the short (2 minutes) run to the mouth of Bull creek trying to stay out of the wind and some what warm. Having rounded the corner I dropped the trolling motor, picked up my Rat-L-Trap rod again with the thought in mind of keeping moving and staying warm. My third cast was into the mouth a cut leading to a boat shed which I knew had stumps on the west side, after turning the handle 4 or 5 time my trap stopped solid, I tell Pat d**n to close to the stumps so I push the trolling motor handle towards the mouth of the cut while stepping on the switch. At the exact same instance my line starts zinging towards deeper water rod all bowed up & drag slipping; I immediately scream at Pat get the net. By now the boat is moving off to my left the bass is moving off to my right and I'm nearly on my knees in front of the console with the upper third of the rod in the water. Pat net in hand is now on the front deck killed the trolling motor and with a swift motion netted the hawg; which ends up weighing in at 12 pounds 8 ounces.

Braided line was around long before monofilament it just wasn't polyethylene (UHMWPE). It was Cotton, Dacron, Micron, Suture Material (Silk), I grew up on the Louisiana Gulf Coast where saltwater fishing was vastly more popular than freshwater fishing. Penn reels ruled the saltwater scene & what I used for bass fishing. Rods were all fiberglass, stiff, & heavy (in weight). My Dad had one that was actually made of steel (my oldest brother still has it). My first bass fishing combo was Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5000 (red) Heddon Mark Special Purpose #6271 5 1/2' MH Fiberglass with a cast aluminum reel seat & handle. Total weight about 2# plus!

Y'all gonna have to explain something to this dumb Cajun. If my reel's IPT is say 28" & I slow down does the reel stop retrieving 28"? And if I speed up does my reel take up more the 28"? My preference is 6.8:1 to 7.5:1, whatever IPT that is.
