  1. One natural disaster and all that technology is useless. Seen it with Katrina, Rita, Ike, & Laura. The way people act is amazing, after Rita I was working for the Port of Lake Charles keeping the flow of 18 wheelers flowing. One enter section was closed off, myself & a deputy from Kentucky was standing by his car with lights flashing, & a barricade behind the car. This Karen in a Mercedes drives around us, the petrol car, gets out & starts moving barricade! The argument the followed was intense.
  2. The SLX isn't half the rod the Crucial was.
  3. Kistler Helium HE733LMH Lite-Medium-Heavy
  4. Speed: some buzzbaits track better at slower speeds while other like faster speeds. This is true even with in the same manufacturer. Rod tip height: this effect how high the buzzbait runs on the surface or below. Both could contribute to what you're describing.
  5. Not positive but I think it was shut down
  6. Stay warm, chunk-n-reel 😉
  7. I throw a Texas Rigged Zoom Ultravibe Speed Worm & Craw with a 1/8 oz bullet weight. This is fished on the surface in heavy vegation or swam through the water column like a swimbait.
  8. @Bluebasser86 Toledo Bend has 1,200+ of shoreline, most of is open to the public. There are plenty of old dirt road that end at the waters edge.
  9. Don't know why y'all are talking history, spinnerbaits down here are still popular & productive. When I'm fishing a spinnerbait its either slow rolling, near the surface, or helicoptering. Speaking of old techniques I still catch a few waking a spinnerbait.
  10. @FryDog62 & @Bluebasser86 Most of my time on Toledo Bend was out of a 12-16' Jon boats. What I learned real quick was where all the public boat launches are. I also have a number of community launches I can use. Depending on predicted weather patterns I select where I going to launch.

  15. They take every lake seriously Every lake is Texas is man made except Caddo Lake.
  16. @garroyo130 not really 😉 Some people are born with it, some people never ever get it! When prepping wood or metal for painting I can feel imperfections with my fingers tips that others I've worked can't. There's plenty of crafts that require "sensitive" hands. You can however increase your feel with a quality rod & night fishing.

  24. There isn't many things in bass fishing I haven't experienced. While at a high school weigh-in a friend of mine who is one of the boat captains & me were standing near the release tank talking. My back was to the tank while the game warden was putting fish in the tank. Suddenly I felt something wet hit me behind the head. I looked down & there was a 2# bass. Guess I'm a bass magnet 😉
